NOT GOOD!!! 3/27/2008

Yes the atmoshphere at the Resturant inside the Hyatt is nice...will give it kudos for this, but that is were the buck stops. It took approximately 25 minutes to place our drink order and about another 15 minutes to get the drinks. We were there for 40 minutes before we even had a chance to order our food. Our server was slower than slow and they were not even busy!! i have dined at fine resturants from NY to LA and this place came highly suggested. It was such a pricy dissappointment. I had a dish that included duck, chicken, and i believe a filet. Unfortunately everything was overcooked and very dry. I asked for medium rare on the filet and it was well done and then some. When i questioned the staff they claimed they would fix the problem and the second steak came out even more cooked than the first!! The chocalate bar was interesting but not good......overall i would tell people to run, run, run...to another of the great resturants in KC!!! Pros: the atmoshphere.....thats about it Cons: too many to list...ie overpriced, bad food, bad service, must i go on more

It has lost a little zip! 6/25/2006

I once had Skies listed as the best place to eat in the K.C. area, but have had a change of heart as of late! The last several times we have gone, the food has been very very bland. The service has always been great, but other than cocktails and the great view of K.C., I don't think I'll be back for the food anytime soon! Pros: Revolving restaurant, service, great drinks Cons: Bland food more

Very Romantic 2/24/2006

My fiance took me here the night he proposed. The food, atmosphere and service were wonderful. The duck was mouth watering and the chocolate bar was divine. We will definitely be visiting the Peppercorn for years to come! Pros: Attentive Service, Delicious Food, Romantic Atmosphere more

Service please??? 11/7/2005

The service left something to be desired here. It took our server about 10 minutes to even GREET US, and another 15 to bring WATER, let alone our wine. We spent $2000.00 on dinner here with a group of 8 of us, and just expected more. The steak was cooked incorrectly, the server was brash and abrasive and obviously didn't want to be there, and we just felt like we were treated terribly for someplace that has such a stellar reputation. I will NOT go back, ever. Nor will any of my mates who dined with me that evening. A chunk of change wasted on a lackluster event. Pros: view Cons: service, food, price more

Awesome Place To Impress The Ladies!!! 2/3/2005

I like to take my dates to skies because it impresses them with the view as well a the food. Every time i go i get the T Bone Steak served with a couple of fresh veggies! It's too good to try anything else. ooh and the dessert is awesome! Pros: View, Food, Service more

Love this place! 1/25/2005

I have been to Skies a few different times and have always had a wonderful time. Sure, the prices are a little higher than some establishments, but the view is phenomenal. It's not just a view for the visitors, but it's great to those of us from KC as well. The service you receive from the staff is excellent and the waiters/waitresses really know their stuff. If you're not sure what wine would taste great with your meal, they can definately help you out. Honestly, I have never been sorry after eating there and I will continue to visit Skies whenever I want pampered. more

Gimmicky fun, good food 10/7/2004

The whole spinning restaurant is gimmicky but fun. We have always found the food better than the reviews would indicate, and the service has always been great ... hey, it's in the Hyatt. I recommend going with the chef's special ... I've always liked whatever it was, and never felt like it was leftovers they were hustling out of the kitchen. :-) Pros: View, Fun, Service more

Peppercorn Duck is a 10! 5/19/2004

I've been to Peppercorn Duck many times over the last 25 years and it has always been wonderful. The attentiveness of the wait staff, the perfect meal and the wonderful chocolate bar at the end. Along with the rose and chocolate covered strawberry -- who could complain! Pros: Good parking, Excellent service more

Ultra Romantic 2/12/2004

When you go be prepared for an atmospheric experience. Enter the hotel and look up and around you. The ambience will take your breathe away. You begin to enhale the fragrance from the restaurant before you enter the door. Inside the low lighting and furnishings invite you to slow down and stay awhile. The tuxedo'd waiters with their white toweled arms inspire trust that this will be an awsome evening. Begin with the Lobster Bisque or a Spinach Salad, followed by duck if your palate favors or any of their other entree's. Be sure to leave room for Ultra Chocolatta - the ULTIMATE dessert bar experience. Peppercorn is my favorite romantic dining locale. Pros: Duck done right, Ambience, Ultra Chocolatta more

Great View 1/24/2004

Skies has an awesome view of the city. I like to go there to relax. It's a great place to go after dinner for desert and drinks. In my experience, the server is happy to re-seat you if desired. Pros: romantic, great view Cons: expensive more

Romantic Skies 10/12/2003

I had heard of but never been to Skies until last night. It was a beautiful view, and the waiter was very nice. The food was good but not near the amount of portion one would expect for plates that start at $29 each. I thought for sure there'd be enough for a takehome bag afterwards. There was a loud group nearby, I believe sitting in a lounge area, which was bothersome, and kids were allowed to run free which was annoying. Pros: Good view, Courteous staff Cons: Expensive more

It could be much better 8/24/2003

It took more than half an hour to even place our order after being seated due to the inattentive staff; at dessert we got a new waiter and he was very good. The foie gras was great, and the lemon sorbet between courses was a nice touch. The signature dish duck, though, was slightly overdone and a bit disappointing. Also surprising on the negative side was the much heralded chocolate bar, which is not very good at all, except for the fantastic fondue. Pros: Ambiance, Foie Gras, Fondue Cons: Service, Duck, Chocolate Bar more

Highly Recommend 6/9/2003

Regardless of what other people say, Skies is a wonderful place to go for a date. The waiteresses were extremely nice. The food was good and gave more food than I expected. But the main reason to go there is for the atmosphere. So guys, if you want to guarentee that your date will love you, take her here. Might set you back a bit but its worth it. Pros: Atomsphere, Quality Food, Romantic Cons: Expensive, Not good for groups more

Not So Great Night At Skies 3/16/2003

My husband and I went to Skies to celebrate a late Valentines Day a couple of weeks ago. I was very pleased with the atmosphere, it was beautiful, but we will never return there. The food portions were not even enough for a small child. My husband and I are not big eaters, but we left there hungry and with a debit of $125.00 from our bank. Never again, they did not even acknowledge our special evening. Cons: LACK OF PORTIONS, SERVICE, PRICES more

Don't listen to unhappy ovr eater 2/5/2003

My wife and immensely enjoyed our visit to this resteraunt. We celebrated our fifth anniversary here and were treated lavishly by the staff. Pricey, yes, worth it for a special occaision, absolutely. It is why it is special. more

So not romantic! 1/21/2003

My husband and I dined at Skies for our anniversary, and we were seated practically in the wait station, so between the waiters banging my head with trays, and having to deal with them coming over behind our table all night and chatting, and the cold food, we were turned off. Never again will we eat there. Cons: cold food, rude waiters more

Romantic Atmosphere 11/25/2002

The atmosphere of Skies is wonderful. It's a unique treat to dine by the peaceful twinkle of the KC lights. more

Short on Romance 11/8/2002

If Skies is the most romantic restaurant in Kansas City than we deserve our reputation of being a cow town. Skies is just another hotel restaurant that revolves displaying the lights of downtown KC on one side and the freeway and distant suburbs on the other three sides. more

SERVICE IS IMPECCABLE, RESTAURANT BEAUTIFUL AND NOT GETTING BY ON JUST REPUTATION. FOOD IS ALWAYS WONDERFUL AND CHOCOLATE BAR PHENOMENAL!!!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING A REAL LEGEND, NOT AN URBAN LEGAND! Pros: AMBIANCE, SERVICE, DESSERT more
