Best

I live in West Hollywood, but it's worth the traffic and the drive to Silver Lake to visit The Kitchen. I have to say, I have been going here regularly for three years, and I hav...

Worst

After enjoying years of enjoying many meals, the party's over! The wait for a table was 45 minutes, which is OK if everything else works. But the strange service, the mediocr...

The first time I went to The Kitchen, I loved it. The second time, not so much. The food was still great (I had the calamari appetizer as my entree), but we sat at our table for about 15 minutes before anyone bothered to uncork our wine. We had to flag down a busboy to get some water. Then, after we ordered, we watched people who had been seated long after us receive their entrees while we were not even offered bread. After about 30 minutes our waiter came by to say ""someone"" lost our ticket and wanted us to remind him about what we ordered--no apology!! We thought he would offer to comp us something or at least give us a free dessert...nope, he even charged us the $3 corkage fee. I was furious. more

dish duty 3/21/2004

Kitchen suffers serious space issues (so, so tiny...you'll probably wait regardless of the day you visit) and a tendancy to bland-out much of what they make, no matter how zesty it is in name. The roasted chicken soup is their crowd-pleaser and is, in fact, pretty fresh and filling...if bland. Big plusses = the supernice wait staff, closeness to the Vista theatre and decently-priced entrees. Pros: affordable, healthy more

Can't go wrong 3/17/2003

I've been to The Kitchen a number of times, and always had good experience. Though, if you're not in the mood for meat, you may want to opt for a different locale (not to say they don't have a few veggie dishes -- that's just not their strong suit). Last time I was there, I had the meatloaf -- good stuff. The place is *tiny* so be prepared to wait unless you get there during a non-crowded time. Pros: Inexpensive, Good food, Cozy atmosphere Cons: Crowded more

Delicious but small 3/17/2003

The food was really great and the servings were quite large, which makes up for the fact that it's a small space that can get kind of loud and cramped. Still, the meal was worth it. I really enjoyed the mashed potatos and the vegetables that came with my meal. The pan-seared chicken that my friend got was also great. The only weird thing is that their cornbread is kind of gross... But I guess it's hard to be perfect. Pros: Big portions, Great sides Cons: Crowded, Loud more

Miss Lunch to Latenite 5/20/2002

I miss the old Lunch to Latenite Kitchen. The food was sooo much better when the original chef was around. His macaroni and cheese was to die for. His pasta dishes were excellent as well. In fact, I don't think there was anything on the menu I didn't like. Now the food is all pretty bland. I think they've gotten too big for their britches, so I'm back to Fred 62. Pros: parking lot in back, next to akbar Cons: food bland now more
