Best

This is a place I have passed by many times but never really considered. A friend asked me to meet her there and I was so surprised. It was cozy and dimly lit, a nice crowd inside...

Worst

Food is bad, service is ok, and the wine is definitely overpriced (and not that good.) Don't wast your time and money, there are thousands of better places where to take a date.

Unwind at The Grape 7/18/2010

After long hours of work and a stressful week, my friends usually look for a place to unwind and what a better way than to go at the Grape to drink wine and have conversations with friends. more

Great wine, atmosphere and service 3/12/2010

This is a place I have passed by many times but never really considered. A friend asked me to meet her there and I was so surprised. It was cozy and dimly lit, a nice crowd inside. We sat at the bar and were served by Bobby. He was awesome. He made sure we had as many tastes necessary before we made a wine selection. We had a few tapas and finished the night with Bobby's signature drink. Great choice for a night of wine and casual conversation. If you are passing by stop in, I dont think you will be disappointed. Pros: wine, ambiance more

Great Meeting Spot, nice selection 10/22/2009

This is great spot for a afterwork happy hour Pros: Convenient, classy Cons: parking more

Good spot for a glass of wine 9/16/2009

I like to sit at the bar - the bartenders are usually good about directing me to wines I might like. The menu is light so if you just need a bit to eat with your drink, it's a good spot. They also offer a specialty cocktail periodically, so ask about that next time you're there. Pros: Good wine selection more

Awesome place to relax with good wine and food 9/16/2009

I visit the Grape regularly and it is one of my favorite places to stop in for a bite to eat paired with a great glass of wine. To add to the great wine and food, the service and atmosphere are fantastic! The quesadillas, grape chops, and soft tacos are great! And now with a full bar, it is a great place for happy hour after a long day at work. Pros: Great wine selection with food pairings more

Awesome wine selection and great food 9/16/2009

The Grape is like a home away from home for me. When I am in Atlanta, I HAVE to stop there. The food is wonderful and the wine selection has a very low markup and the staff know's their art. The patio is beautiful, when weather permits and the events, I just wish I lived there to enjoy them all (lamb chops, YUM!) Thanks Bari, Eddie, et-al! Pros: Staff Cons: Not in Chicago more

Looking for a decent hangout? 12/1/2008

I have visited several "Grapes" and this is by far my favority, and really proves that the experience is all about the service, atmosphere, and people around you. The friendly staff will make sure your glass is never empty, and you can sample whatever you like, as much as you like. The quesadillas are pretty decent, and the wine isnt too bad either! Pros: Friendly staff, great service, decent wine, good food Cons: Closes early on weekends more

Great Place to Meet Friends 11/3/2008

This is a great place to meet friends for some vino and delicious light plates such as the capri pita pisa, hummus or triple cream brie - perfect complement to wine. I enjoy most wines so I love that I'm able to sample a unique variety and the servers are always helpful in recommending a glass that suits my wine palate! more

bad-bad-bad 7/31/2008

Food is bad, service is ok, and the wine is definitely overpriced (and not that good.) Don't wast your time and money, there are thousands of better places where to take a date. more

Overpriced wines from a bottles that were open several weeks ago. 7/9/2008

We ordered a glass of wine but you do not see a bottle that it comes from. This happened for a reason. Some wines they serve are clearly bad because the bottle was opened a while ago. This is cheap. Pros: ambiance Cons: Wine that went bad because it stayed too long in an open bottle more

A Fun, New Adventure in tasting Great Wine! Beautiful place to dine. 10/15/2007

The Grape is different than any other wine bar in the best ways!!! It is comfortable , relaxing and very purple and plush in its decor. It really gets away from the old cigar smoky-looking places that tout wood crates everywhere and a bunch of the same old wines you see at your grocery store. It has a very large menu, but broken down into sections according to taste so it makes it easier to make your selections. and the wait staff is very eager to help as well. The wines are not as familiar, but I am not worried about the labels. I just want to enjoy a great glass of wine! If you are up for great taste, great wines and want to impress a date or anyone, I would bring then to The Grape. This is a place that is interactive and gets you involved in your experience. Not just some boring guy bringing you something in hopes you may like it. They even let you try the wine before buying it! REALLY! Their food is fantastic and paired suggestions of wine are even on the menu. Must tries are: Steak Sand., Hummus, Chicken Club Sand., Chicken Quesadillas and the desserts! Great for a date, a parent , girls night out as well as showers & parties! Pros: Beautiful , plush, great tasting wine, not intimidating more

Great spot 9/18/2007

This is really great place for tasty wine and appetizers. I recommend the Chicken Quesadilla and Vegetarian Pita. The staff is always friendly and you can buy a bottle at their store. Great atmosphere for quiet conversation. more

It's ok. A good way to waste some time. 7/11/2007

The Grape has a pleasant atmosphere, although not as appealing as the Tavern at Phipps. The waiter was knowledgeable, but not very attentive and more than slightly condescending. After taking our drink and appetizer orders, he completely disappeared. After a 30 minute wait, we just decided to leave. We never even got to order our entree. The hostess was excellent and the guy who refilled our water was outstanding! I probably won't try to have dinner there again, but I would go back for a quick glass of wine. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Poor service more

Frou Frou Wine Bar! 6/26/2007

While we were shopping at Phipps Plaza this past weekend for a wedding gift at Tiffany's, we stopped by this boring wine bar. It was on a Saturday afternoon, and only two people were in the place. We should have known something was wrong. We felt sorry for the poor lady behind the bar. We looked over the wine selection, and we didn't hardly recognize anything. And the prices. Looked over the mini-menu, and nothing caught our eye. Maybe we are just too young for this frou-frou bar, we are in our early thirties, but maybe not. We had a glass and left. Went around the corner to the Tavern at Phipps, and it was packed. All ages. Good food, and wine selection. In the future, we will just return to the Highlands, and our fave the Vine. No offense to the older crowd, but they were at the Tavern, also. Very funny reading previous reviewer, who gave five stars, sounds like it was written by an employee. LOL! Pros: Boring, Empty Wine Bar! Cons: Appeals To Older Customers? more

the best wine bar in atlanta 6/24/2007

Went to the grape at phipps and had a great time. The food is really good and the champange brunch is super yummy. my friends and I went there twice in one week. They are offering good deals on wine in retail and every wednesday they have happy hour specials and free appitizers! the decor is really cool and is very good for people watching and a goood social scence. I read other reviews that it was expensive and is totally disagree!!!! i got two classes of wine and appitzer and dinner for $25..... and it was great! I definitely recommend going there. The vinings location is great too! good date place too. They have new menu items with good desserts and french press coffee The grape is first class and the staff takes the time to make sure your experience is a good one. I have been to Eno and othe locally owned wine bars and they are snobby and hard to pick wine for yourselfand way too expensive!!!! the grape has it all! I will definitely go back. Pros: decor, food, wine, service, music, patio, dessert, brunch Cons: crowded more

Generic Wine Bar Good For Tourists, Not The Locals! 6/5/2007

We remember going to the orginal Grape in Vinings a few years back. Now it seems, they have become the McDonald's of Wine Bars. Everytime we look around, there is another Grape. Maybe the unique concept has just grown old. The servers just seem to repeat a printed manuscript. And the wines by the glass, are far too expensive. It's probably good for tourists and shoppers, but nothing unique like Eno, Ecco, and The Vine. Locals prefer nice locally owned independants. Still like the Hummus, though! Pros: Free Parking! Cons: Boring Generic Wine Bar & High Prices! more

The Grape just got better! 3/30/2007

Wow, I have been a fan of The Grape since they started in the Vinings. When they started to expand I got concerned that The Grape would loose the feel of being my "Cheers". Not so I have found that I am always made to feel like I am welcome. The staff really lets you know that you are the reason that they are there. On my most recent trip to the Grape my server Susan couldn't wait to show off the Grapes new menu. She was quick to point out how they have streamlined their glass prices; 7,9,11 &13 dollars for a generous glass of wine means they will be seeing alot more of me like it or not. The Grape also has something they call a 3sum...Hahaha...It refers to the deal you get if you buy three bottles of the same wine in the retail shop. Basically the discount is about 20% off. I got 3 bottles of the Perludio Syrah for 50 bucks! Normally I would have spent 20 bucks for just one bottle. I hope the 3sum is something that stays around but I'm not taking any chances I'm stocking up and I suggest you all do the same! If you go to the Phipps location Caroline is the manager, her and her staff will take great care of you. Oh and by the way the new food items kick butt! Try the Baked Brie or the Creme Brulee cheese cake! Pros: The variety of great wine ofcourse but the food will really surprise you. Cons: Totally non-smoking unless you want to sit on the patio. more

A Nice Alternative 1/26/2007

This is a rather pricey, high-end spot not far from my very favorite mall on Earth. I suppose when I want a change of scenery I'll browse around this place a bit. I've become rather fond of the food court here, and the candy shoppe. The chocolate in there is divine. more

Best Wine Bar in Atlanta 12/25/2006

I'm a wine newbie, and the bartenders took care of me with a complimentary "taste." I now have a newfound love for wine. It may be on the pricey side, but it's definitely worth the experience. Pros: Wine selection, complimentary taste testing, bartender knowledge Cons: Expensive more

Forget Rodeo Drive, & Fifth Ave.! 10/27/2006

I've been shopping here since the destination opened, with only Sak's, Lord & Taylor, and a group of Atlanta's best hometown merchants. Lord &Taylor, Snootey-Hootey, and others are long gone, and with The Peasant Uptown, gone also for lunch. Today, it could be Beverly Hills, Fifth Ave. or any other power shopping destination. And still some of the best associates in the city waiting to help you with that special need. Saks has done a complete makeover, wow! Specialty boutiques throughout the hot-pink neon store. Nordstrom has come on board, with a chic little "Cafe Bistro" overlooking Peachtree, for a quick nosh, and a glass of vino. I love Armani Exchange, Gucci, Georgio Armani, oh man!, Mednikow Jewelers, and casual wear at Tommy Bahama. If you got the gelt, and can't find it here, you do not know what you want. Let me be your personal shopper, and I will gladly show you! Cocktails and small plates at Twist, will complete the venture. Pros: Sak's, Armani, Nordstrom Cons: Not Enough Time & Credit Card Limit's! more
