Awesome. This is my new favorite spot! My favorite thing is the Super Tortas. Their meats blow Anna's out of the water plus it's healthier! Also the tacos are fantastic and never ...

Good but little on the dirty side 5/30/2006

Tacos Lupita is the only place in som/cambridge where you can get some authentic food. It's very tasty. Mind you this is a taco joint - in & out. However, I don't think the owners are that pre-occupied with hygine and cleanliness. I guess it's part of the charm that gives off that "authentic feel", but still.... more

satisfying Salvadoran at a bargain price 5/16/2006

Tacos Lupita is certainly one of Somerville's hidden gems. The small, sparsely decorated Salvadoran restaurant is inconspicuously tucked away at one end of Elm Street, and holds some of the most delicoius food inside. The gorditas are a favorite, filled with the meat of your choice, along with lettuce, cheese, and two salsas (skip the red and stick to the fantastic salsa verde). The pupusas are also great and a real bargain. With a selection of Mexican sodas and such to wash down your food, a full meal can be bought for cheap here, with quick, friendly service to boot. However, don't plan to bring your vegetarian friends here, as the menu consists solely of meat items! more

This place is authentic! 3/17/2006

I used to live very close to this little "Mexican" restaurant. It is in a somewhat out of the way location, and, to be honest, you probably wouldn't find it unless you were looking for it (or lived right next to it!). It has a really authentic feel. The TVs are playing Spanish channels when you walk in, and on your left, inside the restaurant, there is a pretty large shrine that looks to be Catholic. The decorations are paintings and photos with a Mexican feel to them. The food is great! You can get a "traditional" burrito or you can be more adventurous and try something exotic, like tongue! The staff is extremely nice and make you feel welcome while you are there. The food is reasonably priced. Enjoy! more

Perhaps the tastiest burritos, etc. in Boston 9/16/2005

This is Salvadoran food, not Mexican. It's spiced differently and has a different texture. And it is freaking excellent. Along with the usual choices, they offer tongue (lengua) and, depending on the day of the week, a delicious soup. The chicken soup is great - fragant and savory. The menu is hard to follow and varies a little depending on which board you look at and the language you read. I recommend the pupusas, which are corn tortilla, pork and cheese, with pickled cabbage and sauce. Yum. Tacos Lupita is on the main drag coming out of Porter Square on the Somerville side, close to the crossover to Beacon Street in Cambridge. more

It's no La Taqueria, but it will have to do for Boston 9/24/2004

If you can't get to The Mission in San Francisco, this is the next best thing in Boston. The pork tacos are quite tasty and far better than Anna's or Boca Grande. more
