I'm sure I will ruffle more than a few feathers with this review. After all, when you say "re-sale" shop in the area most people think of STUFF ETC. and to be honest I used to also. But in the past couple of years, the quality of merchandise for sale here has become less than stellar.
What do I expect in a re-sale shop? you might ask....well, I'll tell you. i DON'T expect to see rips, tears, smell old, unwashed clothing, see toys with missing parts, clothing with stains.......but I have seen all of these things as well as overpriced garage sale caliber JUNK in this store, and that was a just a short time ago.
I was looking for a piece of furniture to re-finish, since I enjoy that sort of thing and by May I usually have found something to re-finish. It was early August and I had not come across anything so I decided to check out STUFF ETC.......what a mistake!
I had been in the Coralville store a couple of times since it's move near by "Wallie world" and those times it hadn't impressed me either but I thought this time might be different. I was wrong.
Not only did I see all the items mentioned in the 2nd paragraph but more....and I wasn't even through half of the store.
Now, I leave it you, if you could choose between a new, unused item on sale at a neighboring store (see paragraph 4) why would anyone in their right mind go to an overpriced re-sale shop and buy lower quality goods?....I certainly wouldn't!
It's obviously up to you but take it from a shopping guru......there are always sales to be found in the nearby mini-malls or mega mall (if you know what I mean) so shopping here simply isn't worth the drive to me.
good luck....hope you find a bargain......:-)
P.S. if some items seem to be "brand new " with red clearance stickers still affixed...they probably are....there is a woman (whom will remain nameless) who likes to buy clearance from up the street and "consign" STUFF ETC to re-sell it for her....interesting huh!?!
