i went out of sheer desperation after a string of bad haircuts. it all matters of course, space, attitude of personnel, trendy, wow even serve wine, but bottom line is the finish...

I moved here from Miami... and left a great hairstylist there.. Thank God I found Mario! My cut has never looked better. I always get compliments on my cut and have referred many of my friends to him. more

Style & Savvy: Solution 5/20/2007

I was so forunate to be recommended to Solution for Hair and Mark Horn when I moved here 1 1/2 years ago. Walking into Solution - housed in a sunlit River Oaks home surrounded by Magnolia trees - makes me feel like I have entered a fashion haven. Contemporary artwork fills the white walls that surround the comfortable sofas where clients lounge with the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar or Houston magazine. What I love the most about coming to Solution (besides knowing that I will walk out feeling and looking fabulous) is that there is no pretense - everyone there is so friendly and fun. My time at Solution always flies and, in this instance, I wish that it wouldn't. \r \r Mark is savvy about hair unlike anyone I've met - he's a color genius and an honest consultant (he knows all of the runway hair trends and will tell you whether or not they will work on you). Before going to Mark I had to use a mask on my hair twice a week. The color Mark does leaves my hair so soft and healthy that I haven't used a mask since. I recieve compliments on my cut and color daily and have sent a lot of people to Mark (including my fiance) - and they are all regular customers now and more stylish for it. I know all of the other guys in the salon, too, and I can vouch that they are all excellent. Your hair is in the best care at Solution - and now you can even take home their incredible shampoo and conditioner! Pros: Skilled stylists and incredible atmosphere. more

An oasis of calm in the city 5/15/2007

I went to Mark on the recommendation of a friend and I have to say it's the best haircut ever. It's the kind of salon that men are comfortable walking into. I told my girlfriend about it and she's a client as well. Incredible art, great music and glass of wine. Great location, just off the beaten path between Montrose and River Oaks. AWESOME...the first word that comes to mind when hearing the name Solution For Hair. Mark Horn has been my stylist for over 15 years and he is the BEST! He's passionate for what he does and proves that in his work. The atmosphere of the salon is another reason to try it out...from a hot cup of coffee to a cold glass of wine. You can just let yourself unwind while you are made over. All of the staff welcome you with smiles & love. Solution For Hair is an amazing salon!! Mark Horn has been my stylist for over 10 years and he is the greatest! He has a true passion for what he does and it shows in his work. I have never walked away an unhappy customer!! The salon is very hip and cozy and overall just a great atmosphere to be in. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOLUTION FOR HAIR TO EVERYONE! FInally, someone you can trust! 4/1/2007

I've only been living in Houston for two years now and struggled to find somewhere to get a great hair cut. I used a number of high dollar salons and many times left hating my hair, until I found Casey. I can plop down in his chair and completely trust his decisions on color and cut. I give general guidelines and he does the rest! Everytime I leave I am totally satisfied!! I have refered many friends who have been completely pleased as well. I just got back from Solution after reading about it on Citysearch, and I couldn't wait to get home and tell all of you about it. Heather cut and colored my hair, and I really do ""feel like a million bucks!"" I can not wait to show off my hair to my friends and especially my boyfriend. I don't think I have ever looked HOTTER!!! My hair is super difficult to color because I am really a brunette, and I like alot of highlights. I have been all over town trying to find a stylist who doesnt turn me into Carrot Top. I look FABULOUS!!! My highlights are perfect. No brassy tones at all. My Haircut looks healthier than ever, and I really like the style that Heather recommended. I can not say enough about this salon. I would pay double to get these results!!!! Iam so happy. Still loving Solution! 3/26/2007

I had the Brazilian Keratin treatment from Mario and it has changed my life - LOVE IT and will never go without it (lasts 3+ months!). My hair takes 1/4 the time to do now - easy blow-outs - so shiny and healthy looking. I have my color done there every four weeks ... excellent work with Davines color. Great cuts. Great styling. Love the NARS makeup with Jennifer, too! Pros: Great new location on Westheimer - love the color area! more

I have been going to Mark Horn at Solution for several years and I love him! He is a fabulous colorist and stylist!! Everyone there is extremely talented and also very nice and welcoming. I always feel at home when I go to the salon. I would highly recommend it to anyone! Pros: talented stylists, warm, friendly atmosphere Cons: pricey - but worth it! more

She Loves It I love It You Will 3/12/2007

The measure of a good haircut for me is how often she has to ""fix it"" before we go out. Since I found Melissa Noble I haven't had to be fixed once. SoLuTioN's elegant, low key atmosphere coupled with Melissa's intelligent and soulful conversation make this an experience to write home about, or CitySearch if you're already home. Worship the Hair Goddess! 2/23/2007

Melissa Noble is not called the Hair Goddess for nothing. She gives great haircuts that have mileage, and that often cause people to ask, ""Where did you get that haircut?"" Great Haircut Experience 1/20/2007

Melissa Noble has cut my hair (as well as the hair of many of my friends) for years, and despite how much hair I had left for her to cut (much less now) she has always produced a consistently terrific, well-shaped cut that earns compliments and looks great. She has the eye of an artist and shows a fabulous instinct for how to cut and shape a variety of styles--but more importantly, knows which ones best fit her clients. She is equally adept at cutting men and women's hair and ALWAYS has a good story to acompany the time in the chair. I highly recommend Melissa Noble to anyone in search of the best haircut in Houston. more

I get compliments about my hair all the time. One woman even followed me to my car to ask who cuts my hair. Melissa Noble is the finest hair dresser I have ever had. She takes the time to understand what you want and works hard to satisfy the customer. Also, I like that she explains how to care for the haircut. She is always prompt, pleasant and caring and her suggestions always turn out to be right!! I now have a favorite lipstick that she encouraged me to try, so not only do I get a fantastic, stylish haircut, my makeup looks better, too. \r Highly recommended! more

Best Place in Town! 1/9/2007

The salon is very relaxed but the staff is very professional. Casey has been doing my hair for the last 3 years and I can't imagine going to anyone else. He always keeps my hair up to date and my color goes with each season. It's so nice to finally have someone I trust and each time I let him do what he thinks will look good.
