Editorial review from Citysearch 12/18/2012

I have been a resident of six forks station since December 10, 2010. I cannot wait until my lease is up in June! The office and maintenance staff only care about their priorities (making things look ""pretty"" for new tenants) instead of things that actually matter. For example, I have a window in my kitchen where there is a 1/4 inch gap between the window and the frame. This gap is on the side of the window, and it lets all of my heat out of my house. When I contacted them about it they informed me they would have to get a contractor out to fix it. It has not been fixed in the two years I have lived at this location and they cannot give me an update on this. Furthermore, we are not allowed to caulk the window or otherwise fix it because that would be a permanent change which is not allowed according to our lease. They would rather focus on painting porches and railings instead. Approximately two months ago they replaced some railings on our stairs leading to the front door and left the unfinished wood exposed, unpainted. Last night I received a notice that they would be painting my front porch starting this morning. The problem with that is its a week before Christmas and we have decorated our porch with lights. They expect us to take our lights down immediately, but they cannot give us an exact day when the painting will take place. They are basically grinches! They also expect us to use our back entrance when they paint(since it will be wet out front). This would be fine except our back stairs are rotted through, with loose boards, and our back door doesn't lock properly (we chain it and latch it from the inside but its nearly impossible to lock from the outside). The back stairs and the back door have been like this since we moved in in 2010. They do not care about the safety or security of the residents, they only care about making the front of the building ""pretty"" for new tenants that they so desperately need. I have watched at least 3 different people move out in the past month and haven't seen anyone new moving in. This is only ONE example of their poor planning, poor communication, inconsistent work, and inconsiderate attitudes. It seems to me they would like an empty apartment where they can come and go as they please, and that's what they're going to get!\r \r As far as the actual neighborhood goes, the walls are extremely thin. I can consistently hear what my neighbors are watching on TV, what they are talking about, and I can smell what they're making for dinner. They are not loud people on purpose, the walls really are just that thin. We might as well share an apartment with them. As far as safety, we had a random man walk into our house at 2am on a Wednesday. Luckily, my fiance was awake (which is why the door was unlocked)and scared him off. The office staff didn't even blink an eye at this. We have had to call the cops for numerous domestic violence cases and people sleeping in cars in the parking lot. We are not usually the type of neighbors to get involved like that, but we genuinely feel our safety is threatened. I have considered getting some sort of weapon as protection and that is very our of character for me! As far as grounds, they do a good job keeping up all of the leaves and things, but we have so many extra construction dumpsters in the parking lot, along with ""PODS"" that its an eyesore! The pool was not open all summer due to problems it experienced the previous summer, which in my opinion could've been fixed in the off season.\r \r Truly I could give many more examples, but I'm sure you get the point. If you are considering six forks station, DON'T DO IT YOU WILL REGRET IT\r more

North Raleigh Ghetto at Six Forks Station 10/14/2009

If you're looking to live in Ghetto quality housing and neighborhood, yet pay outrageous rent, this is the place for you! New management has let the buildings run down and rent to ""friends"" of the manager's. I pay almost $900 a month and live next to a Hud person who lives here for free. Enjoy the boomboxes, pot smoking and skateboarding at all hours. Fondly referred to by tenants as the ""North Raleigh Ghetto"". Can't wait until my lease is up! Pros: Good Location Cons: Run down and crime more
