The only restaurant I have found in Houston with quality comparable to the Seafood Shoppe is Mardi Gras. Where Mardi Gras is traditional, Seafood Shoppe's preparation is as spicy but takes advantage of Latino seasonings as well. The added citrus also makes for a bottom of the bowl puddle I can't resist mopping up with some bread. You can get access to the same preparation for crab and shrimp. All three can be had in the combo appetizer. Being on the SW corner of Westheimer and 8 makes it very easy to get to. If you consider yourself to be a boiled crawfish connoisseur, you can't miss trying out the Seafood Shoppe's boiled seafood style preparation and maintain your credentials.
Pros: friendly, convenient, tasty, distinctive, seasonal
Cons: ambience? think funky light, seasonal
