Salon Nouveau

I've been a customer of Teresa for a number of years. Once I find someone who knows how I like my hair cut I don't usually change. Reasonable prices and free cleanups make it even more of a value. As far as the pet issue goes, their dog was a charming little pug mix. But as is apparent here not all to everyone's taste. I actually thought it made the atmosphere a whole lot more relaxed. Irrelevant now since I understand the owner found him a new home, although the shop remains pet-friendly. more

Stylists and customers as surprised to have the owners aging dog now a daily addition to the cheerful, fun upbeat salon. I no longer enjoy going as the dog barks at other dogs passing by, sniffs pant legs, purses and shoes. He is even allowed to get up on the leather furniture! Although I am not allergic to dogs I am sure other customers and at least one stylist have allergies to dogs. The dog really takes away from the spa like atmosphere as it is hard to relax on the furniture knowing that the dog is allowed to be on it as well, and it is hard to relax when listening to a dog bark non-stop at other dogs as they pass by the salon. Also, I have cats at home so naturally the dog makes a point to sniff my legs and purse while I am getting my hair done! I hope the owner soon realizes it is not the economy that is changing things at her salon but rather the fact the clients no longer want to go there because of the dog. Hate to see the business close because of a pet. Why she thinks the two go together is beyond belief for employees and customers alike. Sad to have to look for a new salon because of a dog but I am done. Pros: Great stylists, services and salon Cons: Owner now brings dog to salon everyday! more

I got a haircut from here. I decided to go here because I was just dropping in the neighborhood and I am happy I did! Usually I go only after getting feedback or reviews. I have thick hair with bounce and volume. I was happy with the haircut. It looked great! more

I have been going to Salon Nouveau for about four years now. Started there because they are close by AND on the metro bus route - easy and nice with gas prices going up. Was also tired of the fuss and hassle of salons that can often times give you a lot of ""fluff "" and then very little actual value for your money. Salon Nouveau has the upscale look and feel of a ""fancy-schmancy"" salon yet retains a warm, comfortable atmosphere that lets you feel like you're at your friend's house for a chat. \r \r My Colorist is Shannon - I adore her! She's so good I just let her ""point and shoot."" Sometimes I feel like I want all over color, next time it's highlights, or maybe it's neon-bright pink bangs. I'm not a young kid - but I'm not dead either! Regardless of what she does - I get loads of compliments (and from complete strangers!) I've had young, hunky GUYS come up to me and say - ""LOVE your hair! Love the PINK, and Great Style!"" Which comes to the stylist - Sheryl! She always cuts my hair just right - makes great suggestions for changes - and really knows what she's doing! \r \r BUT - here is the part that brings tear to your eyes (at least for me) I had brain surgery a year ago...and these ladies not only helped me get a hairstyle ready BEFORE I went in for surgery...they didn't freak when I came in the week after - asking them to help fix the mangled head/hair that the surgeons had left me. My head was a misshapen, bruised and swollen mess. They didn't miss a beat. They went right to work and gently, and ever so carefully worked around the incision (and its staples) and reshaped what was left of my haircut into a funky do that actually looked like it might be sort of intentional and made me feel happier to be seen in public with the grow out. These are not only talented people - but a salon with huge HEART!!! \r \r Call them - but call ahead - you may have to wait for an appointment - they book up fast! Pros: Wonderful, friendly service. On the bus route. Great value for services. Cons: Maybe hard to get appointments! more

I went to this salon because it was in the neighborhood and thought that it would be great if I had a convenient ""go to"" place right by home. Unfortunately it hasn't turned out to be the greatest experience. I am asian so I was confident that a mostly asian staff would ""know"" how to work with asian facial features. The first time I went the shape was fine, but WAY thinner than I asked for. I decided to give them a second chance, because it's SO close and affordable but this time i was left with choppy uneven eyebrows. Out of one last attempt to find a neighborhood place I went one last time. While the staff was very friendly and eager to please I was again left with misshapen eyebrows that did not compliment my eye shape. Sadly to say I will not be going back and this didn't turn out to be ""my"" salon. I have not had any other services done here so I can't say anything about the other services. Also, the staff is great so it's nothing personal, I just was not happy with what I ended up recieving. The minute I walked in I was greeted with a friendly staff and lots of smiles. I was offered coffee and tea and waited but a minute for Shannon to come get me for my appointment. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but she had great ideas. She talked to me about how much time I'm willing to spend on my hair, what products I use and gave me tips on how to make styling easier. We talked about my skin tone and eye color before we made a decision on what kind and color of highlights she'd be giving me. She's a great people person and we talked the whole time about our lives and the many similarities we had. She made me feel very comfortable in her chair. I absolutely LOVE my color!!!! She's the first person to make my eyes ""pop"" as she calls it. The red highlights I got look amazing. And I also saw another client that she had worked on before me and her blonde highlights were perfect. So close to the scalp and so natural looking. The prices are actually really reasonable for the upscale salon atmosphere. I paid $75 for a full foil and will be back in a heartbeat for my re-touch. Shannon only does color, but there are 3 other stylists in the salon that cut hair as well. Check Shannon out. She's awesome!! Pros: Free parking, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, available 5 days/wk. Cons: Books up fast, Saturday appts fill quickly. more

My family gave me a gift certificate for the full meal deal at Salon Nouveau which included: a haircut, facial and a massage because I sort of stopped maintaining myself after having my 3 kids. The stylist was so patient and she had excellent ideas that really inspired me. The esthitican gave me the most effective and satisfying facial ever - PLUS, she helped me re-shape my eyebrows and I'm forever changed as a result. The masseuse had wonderfully strong hands. I came out of there floating and glowing and I took the world's longest nap ever when I came home. Now that I've had this experience, I really want to go on a regular basis and treat myself. I highly recommend Salon Nouveau - it's the perfect neighborhood spa/salon. The receptionists are competent and friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Ask for Christine when you book your facial or waxing treatments. She did an amazing job in helping me reduce my fine lines and dehydrated skin! Her 80-min facial treatments completely relaxed me, I fell asleep! She's really speedy, gentle and thorough at waxing too!
