Pluto's Fresh Food For A Hngry

I've been here a number of times and 95% of the times I've gotten the salads. It's a little confusing the first time you're there. You just line up with your paper that you hand to the people behind the counter and they fill out what you've ordered. The salads are just fantastic with the availability of toppings. Especially the sugared pecans. They also have basic Thanksgiving day food that is pretty good. It does get very crowded over the lunch hour, and can be tough to find a table because the place itself isn't really that big. more

Pluto's is one of my favorite places to eat in Palo Alto. Even when price is not an object I would choose to go there over nicer places. You pick exactly what you want on your salad, they are tossed to order and Plut's offers a ver nice selection of toppings. Sandwiches are also great, the bread they use is fantastic. My favorite is the grilled flank steak sandwich. The sides are lacking though. They all seem to taste the same and are not worth the added price. Portions are large. more

The salads are so very tastey here. I panic when I get to the counter because I find it challenging to narrow my choices to six yummy selections. Beets, seeds, sweetened walnuts, peas, broccoli, apples. I’m getting hungry. The portions are large—order a side salad and you will be satisfied. Promise. The only drawback is that it gets very busy after noon. Get there early! more

Pluto's is located on University Avenue in Palo Alto. It's often filled with hungry Stanford University students at all times of the day. Pluto's serves cafeteria style food. You pick up a tray, order your choice of items a-la-carte (there is a daily special/combo that you can get)--get a salad, sandwich, or whatever you want, and then pay at the cashier. A carved turkey sandwich costs, for example, $7 and a ceaser salad with chicken, as a main entree, costs around $10. The prices are resonable and rather cheap for the portions you get, and it's definately not "fast food" like you get at Burger King. in all, it's a good deal. The cafeteria style, while kind of strange for a University Ave Restrauant at first, but you get used to it. It's a good eat for a good bargain. more
