I was reminded once again how much I like the Garden Court. It is right in the middle of Palo Alto and with the renaissance of the center there, there are fewer t-shirt shops and many more classy restaurants.
The Garden Court is de rigour for the Stanford MBA events, but it is really a nice hotel. Free wifi and Internet and they are now part of an exclusive chain.
The service if anything is better than ever and I really like the winebar and the morning coffee and danish they serve. Also this is one of the few places with parking in central Palo Alto.

It is my idea for relaxation. Lounging around the pool, take a quick dip and then recharge with a couple of fresh-baked cookies and let go all the worries of a high tension job. What?s more the staff is quite understanding and helpful and takes good care of you. Amazing place to rest your nerves.

Heavy doors, beautifully appointed room, antique bathroom fixtures add a unique touch, so quiet I slept until 10 a.m.! Coffee service in the hallway was very classy and the coffee was very good. Il Fornaio makes the whole place smell great. I listened to smooth jazz on the Bose stereo in my room -- absolutely perfect.
Pros: lovely amenities, good restaurant, beautiful courtyard
Cons: expensive

I recently had a business breakfast at Quattro and found it to be a very nice restaurant in a great, convenient location on the first floor of the Four Seasons (right off 101) in East Palo Alto. The setting is open and pretty, the food and service were great. I'd love to go back to try it for drinks and dinner.

I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza Cabaña in Palo Alto a few times because of its comfortable rooms, amenities, and convenient location near company headquarters. This trip, I had misplaced my hotel bill upon returning home. Nuts! It would be difficult to file my expense report without it.
"To the Web," I declared, quickly locating the hotel Web site. I emailed someone named Josephine with identifying details and requested a duplicate bill. Imagine my delight when I received a PDF copy of my bill attached to an email...in less than an hour. Wow! I'm impressed.

Is your long lost cousin / uncle / mother-in-law coming to visit? Put 'em up here instead of at your place to get a good night's rest. Kids like following the koi swim near the pool outside. There is free WiFi access in the lobby and at the pool.

This Motel is completely shady, and I had one of the worst experiences EVER with them.
I called on a prior week to book 2 nights for some friends flying in town. They quoted me a rate of $78/night. On the day I show up with my friends, the hotel clerk claims he could not find any trace of my reservation, and that if I had wanted a room on the night it would be $238/night. At the time, I decided not to waste my time with the incompetent clerk(who had a terrible attitude as well) and walked away to find another hotel.
The week after the event, I find that they had charged my credit card for the full amount of those booked rooms. I call back and explain that THEY lost my reservation and I was forced to cancel the room. Ridiculously enough, they check the system, and tells me that the reservation was in there the entire time and that they would not refund me the money. I had to go through my credit card company and waste a bunch of time just to get the charges reversed.
There are so many other hotel/motels near by in Palo Alto and Mountain View, why would you risk going here?
Cons: The motel is simply shady and extremely unfriendly

OK, it is convenient as it is just across the street from Stanford, but it is amazingly expensive. Use expedia.com or some other service if you want a room there. For $400, you get a very basic and depressing room. It tries to have a nice ambience, but it is right on El Camino a super busy strip.
The health club is pretty good and there's a heated pool, but otherwise, it should really be called the Westin Motel. There are better choices like the Garden Court or the Stanford Park...
