Yeah, the Thai Elvis is as talented as he is incongruous, but the real star of Palms is the food. My girlfriend is Thai which means I've eaten at every imaginable Thai restaurant in the LA area, and nothing even comes close to Palms for quality, freshness and variety. The duck curry absolutely blows me away, the Tom Yum seafood soup (all of their soups, really,) is a whole world of flavor. Thai food is among the healthiest ethnic cuisines, so while you will walk out of Palms stuffed, you will not pay for it with a destroyed diet or the kind of cholestrol and greasy junk that will lay you on a slab later in life.
I could eat here every day and never get sick of it. The only downside: it's always packed. In June 2005 they're moving a mile west, so the new digs should be bigger.
Pros: Phenomenal food, Reasonable prices, A Talented Thai Elvis
Cons: Usu. crowded & noisy, Oktoberfest seating, Cash only
