Food is stupendous 2/25/2011

This place is amazing, for all those people who have no knowledge of how this restaurant is truly rated, I suggest you go and visit. This is flled with history.. the food is amazing if you want to try something new. I applaud this place for giving young college students an opportunity to get experinence in the hospitality field, the owner truly has a heart for helping the young and inexperience he is opening a new world to these young people cheers to him. I highly recommed this place to anyone. Food is stupendous, the decor is awsome, the service is to be improved but again AI give this young kid LOTS of credit !!!!!!!! more

I fell in love with the restaurant 2/22/2011

I've read some of the reviews, anybody who doesn't like this restaurant doesn't know good and properly prepared arabic food. This is an exceptional restaurant in all aspects. The cuisine, the service, the ambiance and the entertainment is all 5 star. After my first time, I've been a number of times where I entertained my guests from the Middle Easts and they too fell in love with the restaurant! To all the people who gave it bad reviews, I'm sure you would enjoy something of much lower class... Mcdonald's is opened 24 hours a day in a neighborhood near you! more

I can't say enough good things about this gorgeous restaurant 2/10/2011

I can't say enough good things about this gorgeous restaurant. I noticed some of the one-star reviews on here, and perhaps this place does not give the same amount of attention to their casual guests as they do to their wedding clients. I have no complaints. The lavish, authentic decor inside solidifies the desire to transform our guests to a place very distant from Chicago. The memorable food was delicious, plentiful and prepared authentically - one that comes to mind that I loved on my wedding day was cumin crusted salmon over a mountain of caramelized couscous and vegetables. The staff made me feel like a queen that day. My friends and family both near and far talk about my wedding everytime I see them, and we still get constant compliments regarding Alhambra. more

Very tasty food 2/8/2011

That place looked like a real palace - both in terms of size and splendor! Very tasty food and a variety of live entertainment on select nights, including belly dancers, Arabic bands, and salsa lessons! more

Great 2/4/2011

So my friend was having his birthday dinner here and I read some of the reviews before going-and I was seriously worried....but it all ended up being for no reason! I thought Alhambra Palace was a great place to go for a different type of atmosphere than your standard restaurant plus the added bonus of live entertainment! Alhambra is great for big groups (we had about 20 in ours) but they also have quaint tables for 2. They have a pretty big bar that greets you when you first walk in and they do NOT mess around with their wine pours-filled to the top every time, such a nice change from the tiny overpriced glasses I've had other places. The food was also really good-I am by no means a Middle Eastern food expert, but I'm no amateur either and everything we had was very good. Our table got some hummus and falafel as appetizers and my boyfriend and I split the Filet Kabob for dinner. All were very good, no complaints whatsoever. The entertainment was, well, entertaining....a little salsa dancing followed by some belly dancing really made our night here more of an experience than just a meal. If I had guests in from out of town I would definitely consider Alhambra Palace for a little out of the ordinary entertainment. more

  • The Scene
Imposing curb appeal includes copper-clad turrets, glowing red letters and decorated doors--perfect for receiving the nightly phalanx of six-figure cars. The first two rooms are modest-marble arches, mosaics, fountains, arabesque detailing-in comparison with the breathtaking stage hall. Two floors accommodate nearly 1,000, every inch outfitted with Moroccan artifacts and crystal-laden chandeliers. Large groups gather around drinks, hunks of roasted meat and aromatic hookahs.

    The Food
A familiar pan-Middle Eastern menu has few deviations despite the previous chef's French roots. Appetizers are traditional; thick, tahini-heavy hummus and zingy dolmeh are both delicious with baskets of warm pita. The one oddball, a grilled scallop plated with marmalade, is succulent and balanced. Kabobs come in chicken, filet, salmon and kefta (ground, seasoned lamb) and two tagines--chicken and lamb shank--both arrive steaming and fragrant with cinnamon. To finish, honeyed baklava stands out.
