Excellent restaurant 5/18/2012

This is a delightful restaurant. We had a delicious meal with terrific service. The food is exceedingly fresh and cooked to perfection. The portions are generous and the price cannot be beat. It has a beautiful interior and is very clean. My family has eaten there for years and we have never been disappointed. The wait staff has always been very attentive. We eat there every chance we get because we always enjoy ourselves whenever we go there. more

Best Thai Food I have found in Houston 4/15/2008

I ordered lunch to go at the Westheimer location. While I was waiting, I got to the the beautifully painted walls and wonderful atmostphere inside. The waitstaff seemed pleasent enough, and my food came out in about 15 mins-not terrible. I had the Phad Thai, and it was delicious. Light and flavorful, not spicy at all. Garnished with a little extra peanut sauce and it was fantastic. I'm having to sit on my hands to not go eat there again tonight! Pros: Great food, great atmosphere Cons: Kind of pricy-but good value more

Moms Day Out....(disaster) 11/26/2007

Moms Bonding time ...turned disaster... \r We've been standing and waiting for about 3minutes..nobody wanted to greet us .... we called their attention twice...thats the time the crew turned her head... she told us to wait for 2 minutes... but when they noticed that we have a 2yrs old and a baby.... the other lady told us to wait for about 15minutes.... we pointed a vacant spot near the window... and they still insisted that we'll wait for 10 minutes... THE TABLE IS VACANT.... IT CAN ACCOMMODATE US .... but they refuse to give the spot to us.... What kind of service is that.... If you planto go there with your kids... don't bother or attempt ....THEY DONT LIKE KIDS. more

Best Thai Restaurant in Houston 4/26/2007

I love the crispy spring rolls and Angel Lady.\r My Husband loves Tiger Cry\r and my brother loves the beef pad thai\r I tend to always order the same things when I eat out but with the variety of choices here I \r have been willing to try new things (as long as it's not too spicy).\r So I am writing yet another review to promote a family owned business that provides great food\r in a great atmosphere. more

Nope, never again . . . ""non ethnic"" Thai food 1/9/2007

The ambience was nice, if not a bit kitschy. We walked in expecting a good experience, but no one greeted us, so after a few minutes we sat ourselves. After 10 minutes of sitting, someone finally took our order. The spring rolls were filled with nothing but cabbage, which was dissapointing. We ordered the ginger fried rice w/chicken and the coconut curry. The food was hot, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it. Presentation was great, but I have never tasted (or not tasted) food so bland. This restaurant definitely does not cater to people who like good service or food with authentic flavoring. more

Good food, great price 3/13/2006

I've dined for lunch and for dinner. Lunch they have an excellent bargain - for the price it's a tasty meal that fills you up. I love the spring rolls (rice paper rolls that are not fried) appetizer! I've had the generously proportioned beef salad that was full of zesty flavor. They serve an excellent Thai ice tea. Every time I visit Houston, I try to have one meal here. Pros: Tasty food, Inexpensive, Nice decor Cons: Crowded - lunch more

Terrible Service 3/6/2006

I mean, what service? Nit Noi has really good food, and we were SO looking forward to having a good dinner. We were there for an hour and only once did the waitress check on us, and then disappeared after that. It was supposed to be a special night for my family but was ruined by awful service. We eventually got up and left. more

My mouth waters whenever I think of this place 6/10/2005

Always good, never disappointing. Be sure to order the Toam-Yum-Goong soup; its my favorite, and I always order it without fail (feeds 4+ people). Other faves are their curry dishes and the beef satay with the peanut sauce. YUMMMMM. I had never been a fan of Thai food until I dined at Nit Noi. Now I am hooked. Pros: Delicious!, friendly, reasonably priced Cons: parking lot cramped more

Pretty Good 4/6/2005

I've heard mixed reviews on this place so I wanted to try it for myself. I thought it was pretty decent. We ordered the spring rolls (fried and soft) and they were delicious! Especially the fried. They are huge! I could have eaten them for my dinner alone. After the apps. we ordered a chicken dish which was also pretty good. I would definitely go there again. Pros: Free parking more

Non-authentic Thai 9/13/2004

I was on business trip and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff. I was very very disappointed at the food quality. If you are looking for true authentic Thai dishes, this is not the place. The only thing I liked was their fried spring roll. Pros: Easy parking Cons: , Service more

Worst Thai Food Ever 8/23/2004

Wow, I don't know where to begin. They are expensive, have very low service, and the food is more bland than dirt. I have experienced Thai resteraunts around the U.S. and this has to be the worst. It took 20 minutes to be waited on (they weren't busy) and then when we did get the food it tasted like they had cooked a frozen TV Dinner. I have to say this was my worst experience with Thai food ever. Avoid this place like the Plague! Pros: Nice Atmosphere Cons: , Terrible Service, Expensive more

throwmeanoodle 8/22/2004

This is an ok Thai restorant. the food here is good and there are tons of dishes to choose from. The walls are filled with beautiful art that evoques an almost subreal feling of being some where else. The tables are far apart from one another so that u can have private conversations. The place is clean and apealing. Pros: clean, artsy, good parking more

Wow, Hot and Sweet but crying for more. 6/1/2004

Well, I start with the praises and end with my hat off to the 1960 Nit Noi. The $5.99 lunch special that comes with soup and salad which is to die for. They have so many great dishes and I am hard to please because I get burnt out on dining out food. We've had wife and my family's birthday party's here and the service is wonderful they keep the rice coming and soft drinks full. I believe that this is the best keep secret and it a shame or maybe its not because then we wouldn't be able to get a table on those thai food craving nights. Curry chicken, su shee by the sea shore, chill beaf, or tell them to make you a special order of your liking and they will surprise you with mouthwatering spices that keep us coming back. Pros: waitstaff service, one dish feeds two, family owned Cons: , never room for desert more

Reliable Thai 7/24/2003

We regularly order take-out from Nit Noi and consider it reliable comfort food. The soft chicken spring rolls are probably the best in town, and the dumplings and noodle dishes (esp. the raad na) are consistently good as well. We've had less luck with the curries and some of the rice dishes. Table service can be a bit slow, which is why we usually do take-out instead (where we enjoy excellent, prompt service from the bartender). Prices are reasonable for appetizers and dinner entrees; parking is convenient and relatively easy to find. I do wish Nit Noi opened a little earlier for dinner and had longer weekend hours, but otherwise, this is a Rice Village favorite for my family. Pros: Great for take-out, Reasonable prices, Convenient location Cons: Limited hours, Slow table service more

Rotten service 1/22/2003

The quality of food at Nit Noi is very inconsistent. I have been there when I have had excellent, and very bad and bland food....sometimes even with the same dish! Worst of all, the service is terrible. The wait can be long, and actually getting a glass of water is a test of patience. Skip Nit Noi and find a better thai option off the beaten path. more

My Thai 11/17/2002

Wow, this is good food. The service rocks, the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet. I don't have a bad thing to say about this place. They say George Bush frequents the one by his home. Thai doesn't get any better than this. The spring rolls are out of this world, the clear noodles are just the right touch of spicy, and they will make your food any way you like it. I've never run out of water with my meal. They are polite, friendly, and ready to serve you. The atmosphere is peaceful, the food is DELICIOUS. You order your plates to share, and the quantities are enough for anyone. One just opened on FM 1960 now, which hasn't been noticed yet by many. FABULOUS CHOICE FOR THAI! Pros: Delicious food, Excellent service, Peaceful atmosphere more

THE BEST THAI!!! 10/31/2002

This place is AWESOME! I haven't had a chance to try everything. Chicken curry is awesome, and so are crispy spring rolls. Try them with the hot sauce! Also the steamed dumplings, love the sauce it comes with!!! Pros: wonderful food, great ambiance Cons: parking more

Fantastic BUT 10/30/2002

I love nit noi, it has been my favorite thai restaurant for the 3 years I have lived in Houston. However the last meal I ate there I couldn't help but taste this icky metallic taste in the shrimp and a comprable smell. This alone is enough for me to stop eating there. Because it has been one of my favorites I will give it one more chance but I am warning you if you smell something unusual about the seafood--- it'll taste even worse :( more

Bigger ain't necessarily better! 8/18/2002

Although I must compliment Nit Noi in its ability to maintain consistency in their food, they have not been as successful with their service. The servers are abrupt and very inattentive. I actually saw a fellow diner get up and refill her own iced tea glass (she had tried unsuccessfully to get any waiter or busboy to fill it for her). Pros: consistency, food quality Cons: poor service, pricey more
