Mitsuwa is a big Japanese supermarket. Mitsuwa is always crowded on weekends even though it's pricy. Real Japanese go there regularly to buy the grocery.

Huge Japanese supermarket 3/21/2006

Mitsuwa is a huge Japanese supermarket with a stoneware store, restaurant, perfume store, vitamin store, etc. Check out the sake sets near the entrance. I love browsing here and can always find any specialty ingredients I am seeking. People comaplin about it being expensive. There is a very cool Japanese bookstore int he same parking lot. more

Familiar foods 10/21/2005

It's always nice to find a place that sells foods and goods from overseas. Though a bit on the expensive side, you can find almost everything you might miss about being in Japan. Imported snacks (they even have Calbee), raman, and beauty products. There is also a full service Sheseido counter at the front of the store. I normally just buy dry goods here like Panko and furikake, but they are always well stocked with what I'm looking for and it's definitely cleaner than other asian markets in the area. more

Nice place but expensive 9/30/2005

Mitsuwa marketplace is a large japanese store in this neighborhood. Besides typical japanese groceries you can find in other japanese supermarket, they also have deli section, cosmatic store. The deli is good but expensive. If you like japanese groceries, this is a good place but be prepared for the high price. more

High price, high quality 9/30/2005

Mitsuwa sells a lot of products imported from Japan. Those products seldom show up in the other grocery stores or shopping malls. That is one reason why prices in Mitsuwa are higher than the similar items in other places. The other reason is high quality. I like to buy cosmetic made in Japan there in my opinion, the high prices in Mitsuwa is worthy. more

a pricey find 8/18/2005

Mitsuwa is a large japanese grocery/department store. It changed ownership relatively recently, but it pretty much looks the same and carries the same merchandise. Inside, you will find not only groceries, but also a full service fast food/deli restaurant, a stationery store, a cosmetic counter, and a housewares store. The products and food here are quite expensive, but that is not surprising because it is the only specialty japanese food store for miles and miles. more
