This library is one of the smallest district libraries that I have ever seen. It is also only open one measly day a week, every Wednesday. Sadly, the short hours are due to gradual cuts in funding that have nearly rendered the library closed. It is a shame because you can tell how much the children enjoy using the library on that one day of the week. The childrens section takes up about half of this library and the kids are usually running around and excited.

Lake Elizabeth is located in the center of Fremont. It is a very large and active park with vast facilities: boat paddling, soccer, baseball, tennis, cycling, a community center, running paths, and more. I used to enjoy going here often to feed the ducks in the lake and also every year on July 4th for the huge celebration and fireworks. Unfortunately, both of those activities are forbidden now. But, the park still has lots to offer and it's a great place for a jog or stroll.

If you want to feel as close to a recording star as you possibly can without going to Hollywood, this karaoke house has the answer for you. As a friendly bonus, with a purchase of an hour or more of karaoke rental, they give you a taped copy of your 'performance' for each person in your party. It is really fun to listen back to reminisce over the silly night and wonder why everyone sounds even more off key on tape! The equipment quality was fine and we didn't notice any quirks. The room was clean and the couches were comfy.

This theatre is located inside of a large plaza with restaurants and a couple stores. It is also just a few minutes away from Great America and across the street from Mission College. For all these reasons plus the fact that it is a really nice theater, this place is a madhouse. It is almost impossible to get a parking space on the weekend and the lines are very long. Teens run wild. It is fun to check it out once in a while, but I really have to be in the mood for the chaos.

I just stopped by book warehouse today while I was shopping at the Gilroy Premium Outlets. It is located in the C plaza. What's nice about this store is that it is rather small and personable; you don't have to worry about getting lost in the store and having a hard time finding what you want. The current promotion is buy 4 books get one free, which I wasn't too impressed with. The heavy discounted section on the left side of the store has some great picture books of travel shots and nice cookbooks.

I signed up for an accounting course here when I was pondering a future as a CPA and felt that I needed some brushing up in my skills in that subject area. The class was medium sized, but as the weeks went on it dwindled down to a smaller and smaller number of students. As for the ones that bothered showing up, many seemed to be sleeping through the class. I got a good grade, but even the teacher seemed to be bored.

Ohlone College (or "O" on the hill, as it is fondly referred to) is the main junior college in Fremont. I know many 20 somethings that attend this school to further their education in computers, programming, media (they have their own popular radio station KOHL), and theatre. They have a very good arts curriculum, also. It is a rather small campus, but it is very pretty.

This is a lovely frame store in the heart of 'Ohlone Village' or that college town looking street in front of the college. They work mostly with photo pictures and artwork. The staff is friendly, yet professional. There are services for blowing up and touching up photos, also. The frame is pretty important, as it adds a finishing touch to the photo when you put it up on the wall for display or on your mantle.

This is a modest photo lab that seems to be around for the convenience of the students or neighborhood residents who frequent the lab. It is not extremely high tech or efficient, but the workers do the best that they can with the equipment that they have. The fastest developing option can be an hour or two. They do not make any promises if they have several orders before yours. The more affordable option is to pick up the pictures in about a week.

The store is not too consumer friendly, it looks more like a crowded warehouse than a furniture store. You have to literally maneuver around packed rows of oak tables and chairs like a maze. It is hard to get a good look at everything. Some of the pieces look unfinished, like they had just been hacked from a tree and were left sitting there. The store is usually empty, once in a while there is one employee at the front desk. We were interested in buying one dresser, but the salewoman (daughter of owner, it is a family business) did not offer us a fair deal (did not follow the huge sign for 'no tax' that they were promoting).
