Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this store! You think you've seen stores with a lot of shoes, but I don't think any of them can challenge DSW when it comes to variety and the sheer volume of shoes. They carry all the current styles for the season at a price that is slightly lower than the suggested retail price.
The sales people aren't annoying, though might offer you a bag every now and then to help carry all the goods. They don't ask if you need help every five minutes, but they are readily available and willing if you do need some help.
The have a fabulous clearance section all along the back wall that offers significant savings from the already low prices in the store. It's organized by size so it's easy to find a perfect fit.
I think everyone looking for shoes needs to come here at least once. Or maybe go to the San Francisco branch--I hear that one is even larger.

If you're looking for used military goods and some outdoor clothing, Stevens Creek Surplus Dept Store is a great place to find it. The prices are reasonable and they have a large selection of Dickie's, Ben Davis, and other various brands known for their work gear. They have an entire side room full of bags--old military duffels and cute girly purses. My only gripe about this store is that it was difficult to find anything because it just had so much stuff.
So, if you do need supplies, this is a great store. Only go when you have lots of time to look because you might get lost in a jungle of stuff!

Growing up, I had the same dentist until I graduated college and relocated to the bay area and I never knew finding a good dentist would be so difficult. Then I happen to find Dr Foreman's office.
I like all of his assistants--the are gentle and friendly. Overall his entire staff is genuine and warm...very much a family oriented practice. Doctor Foreman himself is conservative and forthcoming. He is also a licensed cosmetic dentist and orthodontist, so you can get almost all of your dental work here.
His practice relies on referrals, no advertising, so they know all their patients and always add a personal touch when the send out the reminders. There's also a fun newsletter he sends out monthly. He staffs two additional dentist, so they are flexible for reschedules and emergencies.
I'm very pleased i happened upon his practice and I'll continue to come back.

I was pleased with the management and maintenance when I first moved in over a year ago, but I've decided not to renew my lease after I've watch this place slowly degrade.
One Pearl Place is a luxury apartment complex located near a light rail station, next door to low-income housing. It's often noisy in the mornings and late at night. You'll often hear sirens heading towards the apartments across the way.
Parking is also a problem inside and outside of the garage. Tenants don't seem to know the difference between an actual parking stall and illegal parking. Parking outside is usually taken by non-residents.
Maintenance response time has also slowed since the complex opened and the security guard that used to roam the grounds is long gone. We are also being charged for water and sewer (most apt complexes pay the sewer and water utilities) .
Despite the problems, there are a lot of amenities. The complex has a quarter-length pool, hot tub, and a small gym. The gym consists of a multi-purpose weight machine, two bikes, two ellipticals and a treadmill. The front desk also does provide a concierge service that signs for packages. They also have a deal with directTV, so satellite TV installation is quick and easy.

It's always nice to find a place that sells foods and goods from overseas. Though a bit on the expensive side, you can find almost everything you might miss about being in Japan. Imported snacks (they even have Calbee), raman, and beauty products. There is also a full service Sheseido counter at the front of the store. I normally just buy dry goods here like Panko and furikake, but they are always well stocked with what I'm looking for and it's definitely cleaner than other asian markets in the area.

I was a little disappointed when I set foot into Eddie's Quilting Bee. I was expecting something cuter for a Mountain View based store, but was greeted with a sterile atmosphere. There's nothing particularly special about this store. They do have a good selection of high quality fabrics, tools, and books. If you happen to be in neighborhood and need quilting supplies, I certainly wouldn't hesitate stopping by.

The aptly named Granary is a quilting shop located in Sunnyvale. They offer quilting classes and high quality cottons.
The nice thing about this shop is the organization and they also have pre-cut fat quarters if you don't have time to wait for a cutting. The cotton is much higher quality than what you can buy at large chain stores, so they don't lose their integrity after one wash.
They offer a quilting class on night a week, but it's not so much a class as it is just time to sew with a couple helpers wandering around should you need assistance. The helpers were insightful and informed. The shop also sets up some ironing stations to aid with the quilting.
Overall, the pricing is a bit high, but you are paying for high quality fabric. The staff is fantastic and visually the store is a treat to visit.

I used to come here frequently for knitting related items. They have a full selection of needles and tools needed for any project.
Though I was a bit dismayed at their yarn variety, they do have quite a few colors in worsted and sport weights, but lack the novelty yarns seen at other stores in the south bay. Prices are reasonable for both the hardware and yarn.
The best part of the store is that it's always full of knitters. You can hear the click-clat of needles over some chatting from a circle of knitters camped out right in the middle of the store. Sounds weird, but it's quite friendly atmosphere and the staff is well informed and helpful.

When I first started knitting, I never imagined the flashy, fun yarns that are available today. In fact, I pictured the selection of yarns that they have at the Knitting Room. The Knitting Room is staffed by a helpful older couple and I have no complaints about the service. Though I do not go back often it's because I am not a sock knitter and this store pretty much just has a large selection of fingering weight yarns.
They are a bit difficult to find, but if you're in the market for sock yarns, then I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for right here. They also have a nice selection of patterns.

A rare find anywhere in the US, Kinokuniya Book Store offers a wide selection of Japanese literature and magazines as well as office supplies.
They magazines explore every interest and they have a selection that can challenge even the most behemoth of bookstores. Though you must be Japanese-literate to understand anything, I often have fun flipping through the craft and knitting magazines--browsing is permitted. They have a current selection of all books. The atmosphere is bright and open, parking is usually plentiful, but may be scarce on the weekends.
I highly recommend stopping buy. They also have a decent gift selection.
