We've been visiting Uropa for several years now, and it's never been a letdown! It can be a little difficult to find if you've never been, but definitely worth the search! Frida...

Very Poor Customer Service 4/30/2011

There is no doubt that Mercer has a nice venue, however I have been to my share of lounges/bars and the treatment I received here was by far one of the worst experiences I have had. A group of 11 college students and myself went for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived on Latin Night and felt that we were bound to have an enjoyable time, when in fact it was the adverse effect. To my utter dismay, the lady who was ushering people inside allowed everyone inside expect one of our close friends. Not only that, but 3 of the 8 guys were not allowed entrance merely because they chose to wear colored v-necks and not button downs. She also requested that my friend pay triple the cover fee and it was understood that her sole intent was merely about making a profit and not building clientele. I, for one, am all about customer service. For one disappointed customer (more like eleven), the effects will be tremendous and word of bad service will spread like a grassroots movement. The bouncer was okay with letting us in by paying the average cover charge, however because the lady felt she had the authority to heighten the cover for one of the girl's, that to me was very disappointing. When I asked to speak with the lady in charge, she denied to speak with me. That is when I decided to leave the club to accompany my friend outside. My advice is that if you want customer service and equal treatment then do not do yourself a disservice and avoid this place. Even the bouncer admitted that it was unfair, but you just have to deal with it. Sadly, I'm not one who takes unequal treatment. Therefore, ruining that one night by resisting to pay heightened charges was was well worth it to me. The city of Houston has a variety of spots to choose from, let this place not be one. more

Good Place to Hide from the Regular Scene 12/29/2010

If you are dying to go to a dark club and don't want to go to downtown, this is your best alternative. It kind of has a warehouse with low ceilings feel to it. There are plenty of rooms to hide from your ex if he/she is there. They have always played great music here, and this place has wild memories from its Uropa nights. more

Horrible Experience 12/20/2007

We tried to book a table the week of our birthday party for 20 people. Called on Tuesday and sent an email. No response. Understandable, the General Manager who books the tables could be really busy. Then called again on Wednesday, no answer and no call back. Finally on Thursday the General Manager calls back and tells me the table is this and that...at that point the party is two days away. The General Manager was quick and didn't explain a thing. We booked the table, then within the hour for other reasons decided to cancel the table. The General Manager was not very helpful when we called back to cancel. Then we called back because we never heard back from her and she said she would call us back. A day later no call back. She never mentioned there was a cancellation policy when we booked the table. If it is a busy, great club there should be no cancellation policy because there would be others that want the table on the main dance floor with the main bar...I could understand if I was cancelling the day of the party, but not two days before the same day I booked it. I have been going to Uropa for years and have had a good time, we felt it was a special occasion and that a table would be nice for our large group because it gets so crowded...we will never go there again if this is how they treat their guests. She was rude when my husband tried to call her and we want to have a nice evening and if the General Manager isn't very good with the guests we can't imagine how the other staff will be. We will stick to our other places close to everything and closer to home...besides this place is far away from anything good anyway. Cons: Terrible customer service more

Hated It. You couldnt see anything. 9/14/2007

My friend and I payed a $10 cover and were there for litterally 5 mins before deciding we wanted to leave. People go to clubs to see and be seen, here you couldnt see anybody. It was so dark and they had smoke machines and constant strobe lights so you couldnt really see what anybody looked like. Not a good place to meet people. Its like they tried to mask how small the dance floor was by making you not able to see it. I got a headache after about a minute. Would only suggest this place to people with nightvision or people that dont want to be seen. more

Slowly went down hill 6/17/2007

I was at this place for the second time. The first time was great. Good crowd great music. The second time had similar results but that was until the bartender in the red room decided to lose my CC. The staff pretty much ignored me and my request to look for it. So i left and cancelled it that night. Good thing is i didn?t pay my tab. that?s what you get for being lazy! Pros: Nice crowd Cons: forgetful staff more

I have never had a bad time at this club. You can take any mix of friends and it offers a little bit for everyone. If you like the dance floor or to hang back and chill on in the lounge area. Pros: great crowd, great music Cons: smoky more

Uropa has never lost its appeal! 3/17/2005

We've been visiting Uropa for several years now, and it's never been a letdown! It can be a little difficult to find if you've never been, but definitely worth the search! Friday nights are slow until around 11, Saturday nights get busy around 10. It's always packed with attractive people, the music is great, the bartenders are generous with shot portions. There are lots of great little "nooks and crannies" to sit and socialize. A++! Pros: Attractive crowd, good music, competent bartenders Cons: valet parking only more

  • In Short
A packed dance floor spills out to the main bar area where 20-something singles mingle over cocktails and throbbing DJ beats. The multi-roomed club also includes the red room for house, trance and '80s music as well as ample room for dancing. Couples should check out the candle-lit library room or the Sinatra room with wall-to-wall couches, Rat Pack tunes and plenty of lounge flavor.
