Great food, great place! 1/16/2012

If your in the mood for delicious pizza and dont mind a little wait to get it this is definitely the place. Me and my girlfriend went last saturday during an NFL playoff game and while Vandy was in and still were seated within one minute of walking in the door. Starting off with a delicious appetizer that lasted us until we got our Mighty Meaty thats was absolutely amazing to say the least! The service was was very friendly and i loved the atmosphere i recommend this to any one looking for a delicious dinner! more

Mellow isnt even the word... 4/15/2009

My experience with this place from the time we walked in the door to the moment i bit into the slice was complete and utter disappointment. We walked in the door and the host said for out carryout order go to the bar. Well one guy was on his cell phone texting and ignored us. The other guy tried to act like he was so busy putting glasses away under the bar that he didnt see us. Pros: Cant think of any. Cons: Service. Service. Service. Service. Pizza. Pizza. Pizza more

The Pizza here is not what it used to be! 2/5/2009

This has always been my favorite pizza place in Nashville. The mighty meaty has been my pie of choice. My family and I went there on 1/29 for an ealry celebration of my birthday. I don't know if they've cutback on toppings as a result of the poor economy or what, b ut the pizza was well below average compared to the high standard Mellow Mushroom had set for itself in the many previous visits. The mighty meaty seemed to turn into the a puny meat substitute. There was far less toppings, and the few toppings on the pizza were all in the center of the pizza so that no toppings were on the outside 3rd of the pizza. I won't say that I will never go back, because I have had many great experiences at this place prior to this poor experience. But, I will be a little reluctant to go next time, and I will probably only give it more more chance. I sure hope that they have not traded their quality for living off of their reputation. Where else can you go and get Feta Cheese Pizza slices? No where in Nashville! I love the mellow mushroom for their food and interesting design elements. The crust is amazing and the toppings are generous and fresh. If you're looking for a deviation from the typical pizza chain, head to the mellow mushroom. i'm pretty shocked to not see any red flags on this site about the service in this place. i've been to mellow mushroom probably 10ish times and each time i've had the most wretchedly slow service. from the hosts seating you (count on at least 20-30 mins to get to your table), to the waiters who are, at best slow, and at worst completely incompetent. i mean, the food is good, which is why i go back, but it's not so phenomenal that you should put up with awful service. on more than one occasion, we've left before we were seated after waiting a whole lunch break. dinner isn't much faster, either. if you have a three-hour meal to burn, are especially baked, or want to hang out for a while after you eat, this place is fine. Wonderful selection 3/25/2007

I love that they have a tofu hoagie for me to stuff myself with. The hoagies are very large. We also had a cheese pizza on the table that was pretty good too. The service was just ok, not as attentive as other places... it may have been a little busy, but not packed. My gf also commented that she had asked for a few things off her hoagie, so her hoagie was not as large.... she was hoping for more pepperoni or cheese instead of using lettuce as a filler to make the hoagie bigger. more

Best pizza, sandwiches & salads - ever! 11/1/2006

I go to this place at least once a week, and I never get tired of the food. There is such a great selection, and its all sooooo good. Im a vegetarian, so its hard for me to find much around town thats really good. The Tempeh Hoagie is absolutely delicious! Their Avocado and Veggie Hoagies are awesome too. The pizza at Mellow Mushroom is delicious. They have many different varieties and options, all of which taste great. The service is always great, with friendly and efficient waiters, although it can take a while to get seated (as lines get long) and it can take some time for the food to arrive. I go to Nashville at least once a year to visit my family. Everytime I go I always visit the Mellow Mushroom. I have always been kind of a pizza hater, but this is the best(without a doubt) pizza place ever. I love the White Pizza. They have such an original way of doing it and it just works. Terrific, terrific and terrific. Easy going staff, friendly, laid back and respectful. Somehow this unassuming pizza place has better staff than 1/2 the places in Nashville. The Tofu sandwhich and the Portobello Mushroom sandwhich are excellent choices for the vegetarian and the pizza crust is the most amazing!! I love this place. Mellow Mushroom is my family's favorite place for pizza. We have two small children who have always been made welcome by the wonderfully friendly staff. The pizza is great. Do you hate pizza? I do! After working in a pizza place for a while I got extremely burnt out on pizza. My family orders pizza when I will not be home because that is the only time they can enjoy it. A friend suggested the Mellow Mushroom and the pizza was great. They have a wonderful selection of speciality pizzas and I cannot wait to try them all. They also have awesome salads. Mellow Mushroom is the second-best pizza in town - a close runner-up to Guido's. Their crust is great and they offer a wide variety of toppings. Dining in is usually a fine experience although I have had a few flighty waitpeople who seemed to take to stoned 70's decorating theme too seriously. My only complaint is their single slices - which suck compared to a whole pie. I have had the single slices for lunch twice and each time they were kind of cold and the cheese had re-solidified. Nicole the bartender is one of the nicest and most beautiful women alive. The food is great! I recommend the calzone. It is HUGE. Their hot sandwiches are also great. The atmosphere is also great.
