McGee's Tavern & Grille

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! The delivery was quoted as an hour and a half and took 2 and a half hours! The food was ice cold. The only thing that did not matter if it was cold was the salad and it was disgusting. Our order totaled $45 for three things and the salad ($11) and the mac and cheese ($6) were essentially side portions. Don't waste your time! more

I'm so frustrated with this place. They always miss something. It's never anything huge - drinks, condiments, sides. I've let it slide multiple times because the food is great. But for a $20 minimum and $5 delivery charge, somebody can double check the order. This still wouldn't be too much of an issue if you could get a hold of them. You have to sit through 5 minutes of extensions being listed before you're transferred to someone's cell, who never answers. Grubhub was kind enough to issue me a credit once they couldn't get through either. It's a bummer, I'd give them 5 stars if they'd get it in order. more

Above average bar food. Good scene for games and the food doesnt disappoint. A bit of a collge-crowd that can get a bit annoying on the weekends but otherwise worth the stop if nearby. more

WORST PLACE IN CHICAGO HANDS DOWN. okay so i was here for my boyfriends friends birthday he's not really a club type of guy more like a bar guy, so we come here the door guys TAKE MY ID FROM ME THEN PASS IT AROUND INSIDE, 5 MINS LATER another guy comes out by the name of PACO or something like that he asks me for a second form of ID of course i didnt bring one all i brought was my phone and ID no credit card or anything because my boyfriend obviously was paying for everything. He refuses to let me in, fine so I said alright we'll just go some place else please hand me back my ID he acts so immature a GROWN MAN confiscates my ID card are you serious im 25 fucking years old you're going to tell me thats not me in my ID picture really? So he runs inside, i wait outside while I call the cops. 30 mins later a cop car comes the ""manager"" hands my ID to the officers. Immidietley the officer hands me back my ID card and says ""here you go hun just go some place else this place sucks anyway"" i said "" lol thanks"" the ""manager"" is watching the whole thing watches me put my id back in my pocket, I walked by him and called him an asshole. and heard from my boyfriend too. this bar missed out on a $500+ tab we had a big group and we all had cash to spend. never coming back. even the officers said this place SUCKED lol. DONT COME HERE. watch out for paco. i almost missed my train because the officers took so long to come here. i've been to plenty of places downtown and this by far IS THE WORST BAR IVE EVER BEEN TO. more

Came here on NYE and my friend had a drug slipped into her drink after only an hour!!! Had to leave in an ambulance. Management was no help, they had no security and I had to call 911 on my own. When I called the next day to get a refund for the $160 we spent on special New Years eve tickets, they hung up on me after saying she got what she deserved! Pros: ! Cons: Not Safe more

Had never been there before New years Day this year but I've heard alot of people say the go there for brunch so we thought we'd check it oout. Apparently they have a Pajama Party on NY Day and it was a riot. We had so much fun, and the owners were there in robes and hot rollers throwing confetti and t shirts. It was a great group of people and a great atmosphere. It'll be a new sunday spot for me and my friends for sure!! more

I love coming to McGee's whenever I have the time to actually come down to Lincoln Park on the weekends. I'm not just saying that because I too am a DePaul student/alumni, but it really is a great place to just unwind and have fun. I usually come here on weekends where the place is packed with a DJ playing in the front of the room, a live band in the back room, a back patio open in the summer time, and a small room with a side bar too. It's also a good place to eat in the afternoons when the front patio is open and a menu full of pub grub to sink your teeth into. You'll find about 12 beers always on tap, several in bottles, but come for Jagerbombs that are made the best and correct way. This place will always hold a place in my memory banks, not just because it's a cool place, but of what happened on the eve of my 24th birthday. I was just havin a good time when all of a sudden some random girl came up to me and started making out with me...now THAT'S a birthday present I will not forget ; ). I BS you not, it happened for real and I have the pictures to prove it (haven't seen her since though =( ). But anyway, even if you're not a DePaul student, hop on the Red line to Fullerton and walk on over to Webster and Sheffield and come party with us. McGee's is me and my girlfriends favorite bar to hang out at. There is a great mix of crowds, from DePaul students to business men just getting off work. Plenty of TV's to watch the big game and great tunes. I definantly suggest going here if you're looking to chill out and have a great time! If you know someone at the door it's an easy way to skip the lines... or just slip him a $20. Pros: Easy Parking, Great Crowds, Plenty of room more

This is one of my favorite places to go and grub for Sunday brunch or to watch a sporting event. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I love the food ( I'm a picky eater) and the Bloody Mary Bar on Sundays. I would reccomend this bar for 20 somethings. more

This is the best bar in the city for people in their 20s when it comes to fun and value in a relaxed setting. Staff is beyond nice, food is good, you can dance to a DJ or live music or watch any sporting event you want on the ridiculous amount of TVs. McGees has tons of great daily specials and special events, and you can't beat the free happy hours. Always a good, fun crowd. (My only issue is the bathrooms could be kept in better shape...especially late night!) Pros: Fun People, Great Staff, inexpensive Cons: bathrooms, occassional line more
