We had a family function there and I have to say, we were let down. The waitress was crass and I personally had food removed while I was still eating. And my sister's unfinish...

margauxs gets my rave review!! 3/7/2003

This was truly a great evening. From the time we walked in , until we got up to leave, every detail was looked after. There is a very warm, cozy friendly feeling thru-out the restaurant. The artwork is sensational, there is something interesting to see every time you look up! The waiter was attentive and very knowledgeable about the food and the wine. The wine list is quite extensive. The food was outstanding. Everything was beatifully presented and tasted just as amazing. I look forward to my next trip there. more

An Evening to Remember 1/22/2003

I had gone to Margauxs on what i hoped to be the first of many dates, and was amazed at the evening the staff had provided for my date and I. We sat in a quiet corner booth, and our server, quiet and attentive, orchestrated the entire meal, as well as the wine selection. The evening was romantic and magical. Many thanks to Margauxs. more

new to town 1/21/2003

i Had been referred to Margauxs by a friend who has made Raleigh her home, and she said it was the only place to go for an equisite meal and truly friendly service. Well, she was right! I had gone alone, however, I had warming conversation with the bartenders as i had a cocktail before being sat, and down home service once i did get to my table by the beautiful fireplace. I will be back next visit! Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Dining, Interesting Decor more

Excellent Food Great Dancing!!! 11/21/2002

My wife and I were looking for something to do on a Friday night, so we went to Margaux's. We had eaten there before, but many, many years ago. We got there and noticed they had a band setting up. We inquired and found out the band was Soul Kitchen and they played 70's funk and R&B. Well, let me say, after one of the most delicious meals we've had in a while, we danced off all the calories we had just consumed. Kudo's to Steve, the owner, for bringing in such quality talent. We haven't had that much fun since we first started dating, over 30 years ago. My wife and I will be going to Margaux's again soon, and I hope we can see Soul Kitchen ther again too. Pros: Live Music, Excellent Food, Talented Staff more

Great Menu 10/15/2002

Margaux's provides one of the most extensive menu's , combining french and american fare with a very nice touch! the seafood is exceptionally good there! the atmosphere is nice but can be noisy! this is probably one of the best restaurants in raleigh though for overall experience and food. Pros: a 9+, excellent selection, quality food /taste Cons: noisy more

The One Who Started It All... 9/12/2002

I've been a patron of Margaux's for many years. A wide-ranging menu makes Margaux's perhaps the BEST place in the Triangle to take any and all! Steak is done equally as well as seafood. While the sushi offering is limited, it is perhaps the best in the area. The wine list is commendable, while most staff has the knowledge to present it appropriately with recommendation. Newly renovated, I'm still partial to the old mural that used to line the cornice above the kitchen reminding diners that this food has its roots in the French countryside, but excels beyond that at all levels. At Margaux's it would be equally appropriate to wear jeans and a polo shirt as it is to wear a coat and tie. In either case, your meal will be professionally prepared and presented no matter what your occassion. Pros: Food Preparation, Ambiance, Attitude more

Must see! 8/21/2002

Everytime I visit Raleigh, it is mandatory to visit Margaux's. An Icon of a resturant, with wonderful service and exceptional flavor. Their wine menu is always satisfying, with a waitstaff whom is highly educated. For a resturant going on ten years in service, Margaux's still stands above the rest. more

Service and Food Unequalled 8/19/2002

Good restaurants have better service than food or better food than service. At Margaux's you get both in abundance. Every time it has been a wonderful experience. The wait staff is talented helping those of us who can't decide on one thing. With one or two questions, suggestions are made and they have never failed to delight. The wine specialist is a plus as I am very picky about the flavors in wines. Again, I have always been delighted by the suggested choices. If I could, I would eat there every night. The restaurant gives the sense of a New Orleans cafe and a private little bistro at the same time. It also presents as a four star restaurant but also has a sushi and oyster bar. The ability to mix all of these elements without sacraficing the quality of any of the elements is a talent to be commended. Pros: good parking, excellent service, excellent food Cons: expensive, worth it more

Eclectic and innovative 7/23/2002

The food is delectable, the ambience is discerning. This is New York meets the Triangle. The presentations are to die for. more

Excellent service, great food 5/22/2002

dinner reservations for 8pm, and were 10 minutes late, the table had been given away. The place was overcrowded. We had to wait 50 minutes. When we were seated, we encountered excellent service (when you leave the table, you come back with your napkin neatly folded in your chair). The herb-encrusted filet mignon with onion-pate coating in a merlot sauce over horseradish mashed potatoes was absolutely succulent and tender as butter. Definitely worth the price tag of $27. The wine selection should be extended to include more french varieties. Then Steven, the owner, came to our table and apologized for the long wait. What a surprise, when we had finished the deserts (orange Creme brulee, should have neen warm, but was delicious) we noticed that the deserts were on the house. Who does this nowadays anymore? We will recommend Margaux to our friends, and will be back. Pros: excellent food, excellent service Cons: very busy, noisy more
