Consistently good 3/27/2010

Legal is consistenly good for seafood. We like to eat here for a casual lunch or dinner. The quality of the seafood is always good. A favorite of mine is the baked scrod, and my fiancee loves the arctic char. We have enjoyed the wine flight as a beverage. At Park Square we have always had good service, but at the Burlington Mall location it has been hit or miss. Whenever tartar sauce is requested only a small cup is provided. Pros: Usually good service Cons: stingy with the tartar sauce more

Something for everyone 11/12/2006

It is a chain restaurant but the menu is better than you average seafood chain. It is a pretty large menu that has something for everyone. The crab dip is a great appetizer. I've eaten at this location several times and the service has always been good. more

Really bad seafood. 3/9/2006

The food was really bad. Some of the worst seafood I've had in a long time. Overcooked & dry. Even the bread was stale. The waitress complained about the ""High-maintenanace ladies from Newton"" at the table next to us. ""You know how they are."" more

Better than Prudential location 7/25/2005

Went here last week. We were staying in Copley at the Fairmount and went over to the Prudential Center location (because it is closer) and the wait was extremely long so we hopped in a cab and were seated almost immediately. Food was excellent, Clam Chowder was very good. Service was great we had a very nice evening. The Banana Foster dessert was especially delicious. We went during the week so that may have been why it wasn't so busy either way I recommend making reservations. Pros: Food was Excellent, Servers were nice more

Try the new wine cellar! 5/8/2004

After waiting about 20 minutes for a seat, we were seated in the new basement wine cellar seating area. It had a beautiful ambience, quieter than the main area, and surrounded by the huge wine cellar. Our dinner was outstanding and the service was spot on. Our server even deducted the price of a clam chowder when one of our guests wasn't feeling well enough to finish it. Having eaten at legal's numerous times, this was by far the best experience. You can always count on the food though. Also, know that reservation times are only a suggestion of roughly when you might get seated. Pros: food , great service more

Valentines Day 2/18/2004

I had been to legal at Park Pz for the Valentines Day and the experience was disastrous. - There were constant loud announcements on the microphone for the seating. 2 every minute. - Tables were placed very close to accommodate more people. Seriously people, it was so close that I was getting constantly sprayed by the people eating Lobsters. - They literally chased people out by handing the check even before you finished eating. - Very loud atmosphere. - The chowder was anything but Legal by Legal standards. - Overall Terrible experience. Could not wait to get out and stretch. Hope this helps. Pros: Food more

Disappointing 5/5/2003

Clam chowder was bland, lobster bisque was cold and was heavily flavored with liquid smoke. Calamari was served with tartar sauce, and the waiter should have told us about the three flavor options but didn't. We were very disappointed and it wasn't worth the visit. Too expensive and not worth it. Cons: overpriced, bland, disappointing more

Seafood for everyone 4/11/2003

even if you dont like seafood you're likely to find something here. yes it's a chain of restaurants but they're quite good. an extensive selection of fresh seafood prepared every way imaginable with some great side dishes. not inexpensive but worthwhile. more

my move to boston 3/17/2003

i recently moved to boston from florida, and my friend suggested legal sea foods. it was so good, and my server was awesome. the ambiance was great, and i'm completely a regular now. Pros: validated parking, amazing food, great service more

they should be arrested 2/5/2003

i ate there recently and all i can say is that it was a terrible experience: from the food to the service to the atmosphere to the management staff to the pricing to the restaurant policies--it was the worst. on a positive note, the bathrooms were clean. do yourself a favor and do not eat at this tourist trap.....find a nice seafood place where they like their customers and serve fresh food cooked in a way that is interesting and tasty at a price that is reasonable--not legal, that's for sure!! this place must spend a fortune in advertising because they don't deserve one positive word from real people! Pros: clean bathroom Cons: food, service, staff more

service? where? 12/27/2002

This must have been a bad week or something. Service sucked at Flemings and sucked here on Friday. Waiter took a long time to give us water. Food took ages to come out. My Mahi Mahi was lukewarm; wife's mixed grill dish was good. Coconut shrimp appetizer was good. Place was really noisy. They're trying to do fancier dishes, but smaller places like Appetito does a better job. Pros: yummy shrimp Cons: service sucked, food was really slow more

MOUTHWATERING LOBSTER 8/14/2002

I HEARD A LOT ABOUT LEGALS BEFORE MY VISIT TO BOSTON FROM SEVERAL PEOPLE. I LOVE SEAFOOD SO I DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO EAT. THE SEAFOOD WAS AS GOOD AS EVERYONE SAYS IT IS. THE ONLY THING THAT ANNOYED ME WAS THAT THERE WAS A LONG WAIT, THE RESTAURANT WAS PACKED AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET OUR FOOD. I DID GO ON A WEEKEND SO MAYBE THE WEEKDAYS ARE DIFFERENT Pros: AWESOME LOSTER, BEST SEAFOOD IN AWHIL Cons: CROWDED, LONG WAIT, NOISY more
