Tokyo tasted 4/21/2009

I am picky about food, and simply put Jasmine has the best Sushi in Seattle. All of the Sushi is fresh and excellently prepared. The seared albacore is exceptional just like when i was eatting it in tokyo, as is the salmon. In truth, everything is exceptional. If you are adventurous, ask the chef to make you a role of their choosing. I have never been disappointed when I have done this. Pros: Shiro Maguro was fantastic more

Glad I found this place 3/5/2009

A few of my friends decided to go out and have lunch today and had no clue where. We walked along forth and came across jasmine, we figured why not. Glad that we stopped in. The food was amazing. We shared a few dishes. We've had sushi in the area before but nothing compared to what we had. The fish was fresh and the combinatins in the rolls were exqusite. Glad we didn't read any prior reviews and had the experience for ourselves. The staff were friendly and fast. Our server in perticular was helpful in giving his opinion on which rolls we should try and he did a good job in his selections. We will be comming here for more sushi.. more

A pleasant surprise 1/22/2009

My wife and I decide to try Jasmine since we never been there. When I heard the name Jasmine I thought we were going to a Thai restaurant. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised, it was a Sushi Restaurant. The look and feel of the restaurant was a clean and hip place to hang out. We ordered several sushi rolls and a bottle of Sapporo. The sushi was fresh and professional presented. My wife thought the caterpillar roll was cute. She took a picture of it on her cell phone. Overall a pleasant surprise we will go again. Pros: Sushi taste fresh and I like how it was displayed Cons: parking more

So GROSS! Watch out for non-handwashing employees 12/23/2008

Have been many times. Service is always slow even with no other customers. Most employees are on their laptops/bluetooths. Even worse, we ordered sushi and watched the sushi chef rubbing his eyes with the palms of his hands, putting in his bluetooth and messing with his ear, using his laptop and cell phone and then when he got our order, he walked to the sushi counter, stuck his hands in the rice and started to make our meal. He did not wash his hands. We even got a photo of it! So gross. We were the only customers and the waiter told us we were the only ones for five days because of the weather. We are not going back. Pros: close to work Cons: employees, always cold in there, price, portions more

Bet you never expected salsa at an Asian place! 7/9/2008

This is sooo cool! Asian food then a latin dance night! Good thing I went friday night. It was cool going for dinner then staying for a little dancing. I loved it! I especially loved that I burned off calories while dancing. Made me want some more of that tasty rice. lol Pros: Great atmosphere and staff. Cons: I hate parking in DT Seattle more

Jasmine Restuarant and Lounge, 4th Ave. Seattle 5/24/2008

I have been here more than once and I really like the food. It is less pricey and less pretentious than other nearby restaurants that serve similar dishes, like O'Asia, Wild Ginger and Purple. The sushi bar does an excellant job and the salads and entrees have been uniformly tasty. The owner, a young energetic woman named Hai, always has a nice word for everyone. It is just a very comfortable place to go for a very nice meal. Pros: The food, the sushi bar, the bar service and the ambience Cons: crowded some evenings and typical downtown parking issues more

Great place 4/6/2008

We made reservations for 6:15 on Saturday, but really didn't need them. We were there for about 1.5 hours and there were only a few other people, which we could not understand at all. The honey walnut prawns were amazing as was all the other food. We got a couple specailty rolls of which they have a large list. The sushi is fresh and tasted wonderful. The atmosphere is quiet and somewhat dark and could work for a romantic evening. The drink menu with saki mixed drinks was good as well, try the Saki Smash. The service was great. He came by and checked on us often enough and the food came fast. Overall, I will definitey be returning to this place. Would be good for a happy hour I think. more

avoid every night 10/3/2007

horrible service--do not go here. no servers and only one bartender (who's too busy talking) serve the restaurant. my friends and i waited 15 minutes before we got service and the food is overpriced. the sushi is alright, much better places if you head to belltown more

Lucky find 2/15/2007

First of all, I didn't know this place had sushi. They should really let the word out, seeing as how there is no sushi in this part of downtown, and that it's actually really damn good. I've been twice now, and will be back soon. The first time I stopped for a drink, and decided to order happy hour food. I had a spicy tuna and a california roll. The spicy tuna seemed pretty standard, the california I noticed was full of real crab meat... for 4 dollars - nice. The second time, i sat at the strange looking sushi bar so I could talk to the chef. He seemed to know a lot about everything, from the dwindling tuna population to the manufacturing of sake to the history of sushi. Some of his answers were pretty long winded, but informative. The place was pretty slow when I went, so I guess he had time. I was told the place recently went through some changes so it hasn't been that busy. That works for me, since I was getting sick of having to wait for good sushi Pros: Good Sushi, fast service Cons: pretty empty inside more

Fun place, great food 2/6/2007

Had we read some of these reviews, we might not have stopped at Jasmine. I'm not sure what happened to those other people, but our experience was great. The 'martini' was excellent, the appetizers were out before we finished our first drink, my buddy said the sushi was great, and the bartender seemed genuinely interested in hearing us rant about our jobs. The only thing that could be mistaken for bad service was the tongue lashing the bartender gave the drunken idiot at the other end of the bar. Its nice to see someone in Seattle be something other than passive aggressive! Fun place, we'll be back... more

Worst Service Ever 1/13/2007

Bad service. Below average food. Forgot my appetizer. Brought me the wrong entree. Waited 25 minutes for my beer. \r \r The rest of the restaurant was empty and now I know why. This pace will be out of business in due time. more

Beautiful decor and delicious food! 12/30/2006

We got into Seattle on Saturday evening to attend an exhibit and did not make arrangements for dinner. Seeing that every downtown Seattle restaurant was packed we decided to try the restaurant that adjoins our hotel, The Jasmine Restaurant and Lounge. What a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious, the service was good and our meals were promptly served The decor was beautiful! The bill was very reasonable. However, we were the only party in the dining room. Curious circumstance for such a well appointed restaurant in such a great city. Go figure. more

Worst service I have ever experienced 12/16/2006

By far the worst service I have ever experienced. The bar/restaurant was dead-maybe 25 people tops and it took 45 minutes to get a glass of Sprite and a pint of Pilsner Urquell. When, after 25 minutes I approached the bar tender to complain he said ""sorry about that"", handed me a business card to call the manager, and walked away. He didn't even give me the drinks. Then we got the drinks but the waiter didn't give us change. I honestly think he was trying to keep it because he knew/assumed he would not get a tip. We had to ask for the change on the way out the door. \r \r The next day I did call the manager -Hai- and she actually said ""you shouldn't get so stressed out, give me a call the next time you come in and we'll give you great service"". No appologies, no offers, just that response. \r \r Oh and I didn't get to try the food because after asking for a menu three times, I still didn't get one. \r \r There are a lot of good bars/restaurant in DT Seattle, so this one is to be avoided. Cons: Service was terrible. Never got to try the food because the waiter didn't bring a menu. more

Been there done that 7/1/2006

The food and the drink at Jasmine were nothing special. The pork that we had tasted like the one from Panda Express. The manager was loud, bossy and unprofessional. When this place was first opened (about a year ago), my wife and I thought that the reason for not seeing as many customers as they should was due to recent opening. Well, now we know why. more

LA trend meets Seattle service 5/23/2006

As a Seattle transplant living in LA for the past five years, I miss the great restaurant service one finds in and around Seattle. Trendy LA bars have their own attraction; but as anyone who has spent time in LA will tell you, the service is often lacking...(when your server is about to be ""discovered,"" serving food seems an affront to their future success as a mega-star) Trendy in all the right ways, Jasmine provides a perfect blend of ambience and service that makes for a great experience. I was in on Saturday for cocktails/appetizers in the bar, and was thoroughly impressed with the bartender and waitress' level of attention, considering how busy they were. My one criticism is that the appetizer menu could use some revision with perhaps a few more additions, but what I did have was excellent, and the experience in entirety was impressive. Pros: Staff, Service, Cocktail Menu more

Good Food, awful service! 5/16/2006

We apparently hit Jasmine on a bad night, as the cuisine was good (even interesting) although the service, which started decently, became downright repulsive very quickly...to the point were appetites evaporated and the preference was to leave rather than stay. To be fair, the staff did close the kitchen just prior to our arrival (about 9:30 PM), and were kind enough to prepare from the entree menu for us despite. The Lobster Tail was light and tasty and the manila clams flavorful and steamed just right. The rolls were average at best. Unfortunately, the plainly awful treatment we received negatively countered whatever the quality food might have delivered. Pros: Trendy, Decent Food Cons: Poor customer service more

Try it! 3/5/2006

Was there on a Friday during HHour. There was a great mix of ppl who wanted to have a drink and relax after work. The setting was perfect to wind down after a hard week, where the food was delicious and the staff was attentive. The only thing I wish they would offer is more items and different varieties on the HHour menu. Pros: Awesome Happy Hour Cons: needs bigger menu more

Trendy, but tasty 2/10/2006

I came by for dinner on a weekday around 8, and by then most of the crowd was in the bar area having drinks. Still, the waiter checked up on us reasonably often. The scallops were delicious, but the person with me didn't seem to enjoy his vegetarian entree as much. The live music in the front was a nice addition, and not too loud to carry on a conversation. more

a new hang out... 2/6/2006

Jasmine is quickly becomming a popular hang out with fellow co-workers and myself. The staff is friendly and is not stuffy as you might expect from the look of this swanky spot. The food is outstanding, I cant get eniough of the firecracker shrimp, or the dinner scallops (if i am in the mood for something more filling) over all a great up and coming spot. more

Great ambiance 11/22/2005

I went there during the afternoon on a weekday and the staff was so friendly and casual that hanging out there was just completely relaxing and fun. I'd recommend this place because it has a really good vibe about it. It's not necessarily the high pressure, packed type of bar that some people look for, but if you're looking to chill out and have a drink and meet some cool people, this is a good place. more
