Jade Villa

Jade Villa is a pretty average dim sum place. The prices are a lot more expensive than some other dim sum places in Oakland, and the taste isn't anything spectacular either. However, it has a couple good things going for it; the service is pretty good, as they have a pretty large staff to handle all the customers, and it's a lot cleaner and "classier" than some other dim sum places. Probably a good place to go if you're introducing someone to dim sum, who isn't as accustomed to the cheaper restaurants with tons of crowded people, heavy aromas, and dirtier surroundings. more

Growing up in So-Cal, I got spoiled by really, really good dim sum. Jade Villa doesn't really come close to that. The service is slow and their dim sum doesn't really have much flavor, nor is it very clean. It's definately better than some of the other places I tried in Oakland Chinatown. A lot of their dishes are very greasy...the kinda of grease that tastes old and unchanged. But check it out if you're in the area...and DEFINATELY check out the dim sum in LA if you're ever down there. more

Most Americans have not tasted these tiny morsels of goodness. Jade Villa is a great place for dim sum. Most of the food are pretty cheap and have a good vairety too. It is a great place to be with family and very lively too. I think anyone should go there for the dim sum! Dinner is good too! more

Jade villa is a great place to eat any time of the day. From breakfast to lunch, you can eat dim sum. They have many types so you won't be bored. Usually you need to wait awhile. For dinner you can order seafood, beef, chicken, vegetables, pork and much more. There are so many choices that it's hard to choose! more

Everytime I go there it will have a line and you probably have to wait atleast 15mins before getting a table. The parking is also ard and crowded because it in Chinatown, but its still a good place to go. once you get in the food taste great, but you do also have to wait awhile before someone dim sum carts get to your table. One of my favorite dishes is the Chicken feet. Mayb sound weird but it taste spicy and good.... more

Jade Villa is in Oakland's Chinatown at the corner of 8th Street and Broadway. On weekend mornings, it is always packed with people wanting to have dim sum. On these days, you have to take a number and wait. The wait can be long, up to twenty minutes. I found that the food at Jade Villa is very mediocre. Typical Chinese dim sum entrees include ha gau (shrimp dumplings) and sil mai. The service at Jade Villa is slow and rude, which is also typical of a Chinatown Chinese establishment. The last time I went to Jade Villa my aunt found a fly in her chow mein. After that incident, I have vowed to never return to Jade Villa. Another problem with Jade Villa is parking. There isn't any parking nearby except the streets. If you want to go to Jade Villa, you'll have to either pay and park in a garage somewhere or park blocks away and walk. I would not recommend Jade Villa. There are better places for dim sum in Oakland. more
