Best

The absolute best salon in Seattle! I have been going to Illusions since 1992. From wearing my hair in an almost -crew-cut, style to its current long-length with a perm, I have ...

Knowledgeable and talented - great service. 2/11/2007

I just moved to the area about a year and half ago from CA. I was looking for a place that was trained in doing CHI hair straightening. I was shocked to see that only two salons in the whole Seattle metro area were listed as having this experience. Thankfully, one of them was in my neighborhood. It's an expensive process, and could potentially ruin my hair if not done right, so I really have to trust that they know what they're doing. After my initial consultation, I felt very confident in Monica's abilities. She did an excellent job. The haircuts are reasonably priced (especially compared to CA where it's about $60) if you're really looking for a good cut, or have high-maintenance hair. For basic trims, it might not be as economical. I've seen 3 stylists there and they've all done an excellent job and are quick (sorry I can't remember all their names. I will repost if I do). No spending all day in the salon. All of the gals are friendly, and they give referral discounts, and coupons in the mail on occasion. And fyi, it's not uncommon now for salons to add on for finished style. It's additional time and product outside of the intial service. more

Pretty Pricey but Good Service 11/20/2006

I just had my first cut/color experience with Illusions. The cut, as mentioned by the earlier reviewer, was $43. Pretty high, especially since I have long hair, and it was really only a trim. At that appointment I also had a free color consultation. My hair is quite gray naturally so I usually get a "double process" to be brunette with blonde highlights. When I came back after making an appointtment for the coloring, the person I was originally booked with was running late, and I was given another stylist. She seemed to disagree with the first as to how to get the desired look. Turned out the time booked was not sufficent to do a "Gloss" and "Sparklight" they both eventually agreed I needed. That's fine...I'm not complaining about that at all. Whatever it takes to get it right. So I went back today and got both done by Carolyn. It looks fine, but I think next time I would do a partial foil as the highlights are really only along my part. That's not her fault; I need to know what to ask for. But...here's the thing I want to warn people about. I was charged as the price sheet said for the gloss ($58) and Sparklights ($48) which should have totalled $106. But, I was billed an additional $25 for a total of $131. Upon examing the price list after I got home I noted "Finished Style Added To Color Service...$25". Evidently getting my hair blow-dried before leaving was the extra $25. OUCH! Good thing you don't have to tip. I will go back, but next time I'll pass on the "finished style"!!! You could really rack up a bill at this salon... more

Illusions Hair in West Seattle 9/2/2005

A great place to get your hair cut in West Seattle. This place had been around for a long time and has a good reputation in West SEattle. It is consistently selected as the best place in West Seattle to get your hair cut. I agree! The ladies there are all very nice and talented hairstylists. Haircuts are $43, which might be a little pricey, but it's nice because there is no tipping required. It's a non tipping salon which eliminiates any awkwardness. I've been going there for almost 3 yrs now. My stylists name is Carolyn. more
