Family Hotel 7/7/2010

They Hyatt is rated as a 4-star hotel on Priceline. My family and I usually bid for $50 and stay here for the 4th of July.\r \r They always upgrade the room and give us a nice view. \r \r The staff here is friendly to children. The Spindletop restaurant is a blast for families. Call for reservations is advance.\r \r There is a great sandwich called ""The Houston"" sandwich in the snack shop. It's an ""adult"" bologna sandwich, and you have to try it. Pros: Pool Cons: Spindletop restaurant is often closed more

Great Hotel 3/8/2010

I recently stayed at the Hyatt and was surprised at how nice it looks. The lobby is inviting and looks nice and we had a great stay with outstanding customer service. All the employees we came across were friendly and went out of our way to make our stay enjoyable. We will be back! Pros: Newly renovated, Ideal location, great staff & service more

My Horrible Hyatt Experience 12/17/2008

I attended a party at the Hyatt and was told that there would be valet parking available. In reality, upon arrival we were routed into their parking garage to self park and we parked on the 4th level. At 10:15 pm we left the party so that I could pick up my child no later than 11 pm. The childcare provider asked that we not be late and there would be a per minute charge beginning at 11:05. After starting the car we found ourselves in a line of cars that wasn't moving. We sat in one place with the engine running for 1.5 hours without moving an inch! When the line began to move it was after midnight, and it took another 30 minutes to get to the ticket gate. It took 2+ hours to actually get out of the Hyatt parking garage, and that is more time than we spent at the party. I was 2 hours late to pick up my child and was fined 10 times (yes, 10x) the original charge! A simple evening out with my husband turned into a living nightmare.\r \r I called the Hyatt to complain about being literally trapped in their parking garage for 2 hours, and they said that they were busy and I just needed to understand that. I responded that having to wait 2+ hours to get out of any garage is way past ridiculous, and they said ""have a nice life"" and hung up on me. They never acknowledged that they had a problem and they never apologized for the gross inconvenience and hardship that they caused not only me, but many others I'm sure. I'm just glad that I didn't have a medical emergency. \r \r I guess the Hyatt has been in business so long they have forgotten that everything matters. Boo Hyatt. I'll never get trapped in their parking garage again because I will never have anything to do with them ever again! more

JFK Hyatt Regency Rocks! 7/21/2005

My husband and I decided to stay at the JFK Hyatt Regency the night of our wedding. Our flight was at leaving 7:30 the next morning from Bush Intercontinental, so the locations was key. We got to the hotel at around 1:30 am and, while speaking with the very nice lady at the front desk, realized that we had booked our reservations for the wrong day. The lady was extremely nice and fixed the problem for us. The room was awesome. It was huge, had a great bed, and was beautiful with a great corner window. Really great for the price -- way under $100!! When we were leaving the next morning the staff was really nice and offered to help us in any way possible. The JFK Hyatt Regency was great and the service was top-notch!! Highly recommended!! A+++! Pros: Great Value, Beautiful Rooms, Nice Staff more

Still the best 5/2/2004

I first came to the Hyatt downtown during my senior prom way back in '79. My date took me to Spindletop...WOW! I thought that was the coolest restaurant I had ever seen. I decided to bring my husband to Spindletop to see how it had changed. It was superb. We enjoyed a fabulous candlelit dinner and watched the buildings and cars below go by. It was just as I remembered it only updated with a much better menu. The funny thing was seeing at least five other couples experiencing their prom night there too! Pros: great menu, free valet parking, quiet more

night of love 12/23/2002

This is the place to bring you new love or someone special. the romatic Houston sky line and the romantic atmosphere will make your love one feel like a queen. Pros: open lounge, inexpensive, great food Cons: expensive parking, some old rooms more

Elegance but a bit aloof 12/12/2002

The Hyatt does a great New Year's Party...but I thought the crowd was a bit aloof, and my date and I wanted to talk to other people! The food, room, and entertainment were fabulous though... Pros: Very festive, Lots to do, Diversified crowd Cons: some snobby people, expensive, Lost in the crowd more

  • The Scene
This 30-floor, high-rise hotel looks right at home among the gleaming monuments to capitalism that line Houston's downtown streets. With almost a thousand rooms, it's a perennial favorite for both leisure and business travelers seeking reliable comfort in a convenient location.

    The Details
A turn-of-the-millennium renovation brought new furnishings and enhanced luxury to meeting rooms, public areas and restaurants, as well as updates to all 30 suites, with new wall coverings, furniture, carpeting and granite in the bathrooms. Custom built-in closets replaced the freestanding armoires, which some guests found limiting in terms of space. Standard guest rooms are decorated in earth tones with a soft chair and reading lamp (what better place to put to use your complimentary robe) and a small work area--convenient for business travelers who don't need to spread out. Turndown service is available.
