This doctor is past his prime. He really should seriously think about retiring. I found the office to be very unprofessional. They have no computers and can only accept cash or checks. Billing is done by hand. His health records consist of 3x5 cards bundled with a rubber band for each patient.. The nurses in the office seem burned out and frustrated. The wait times are too long. Others agree with me that he over-prescribes meds. There are much better pediatricians out there. more

My brother, sister and I were patients of Dr. Hess since birth. He was our only trusted Pediatrician through all our childhood lives. Now 34 years of age my five children, ranging 3 yrs. to 18 yrs. old, have been blessed to have Dr. Hess as their Pediatrician as well since birth. I wouldn't have it any other way. Even when specialists in the ER at Hermann Childrens couldn't quite determine why my son was ill, Dr. Hess saw him the very next day in his office, was able to diagnose his illness and start medication immediately after. Fever went down by the time we arrived home and all went well from there. To be honest there are so many office visits I can describe and tell of, just rest assure Dr. Hess is, in my opinion and my family ONE OF THE MOST ACCURATE, CONCERNED, DETERMINED & RELIABLE Doctor of all time. By the grace of God it is an honor & blessing to have my children as his patients and I would not have it any other way. Private insurance, Medicaid or even out of pocket he is well worth the time and distance I travel for my children's visits. Yes he is a ways out from where we live (Deer Park). From well-check ups to sick visits Dr. Hess is the only Pediatrician I trust to care for my children! His staff is as remarkable and caring as he is. Especially his long-time, head nurse Linda!!!! Can you believe she was my nurse from birth as well? From all my experiences, Dr. Hess has NEVER been wrong in the care of my children. Dr. Hess you are loved and commended by many....You are one of a kind. He too is an inspiration to our children and their future. That is why my daughter who has just graduated from HS with honors, is already registered and in the process to take her requiring requisits and attend Medical School. I can go on and on.... Giving Dr. Hess the opportunity to be a major part of your childrens lives is the best gift you can give them! My parents took me to Dr. Hess starting at 3 weeks old, I am 19 now, and I trust him with my life. He is the most knowledgeable and thorough doctor I have ever come across. My family moved from Houston to Austin when I was 8 years old, if I got sick my mom would still drive me to Houston so that I could see him. When I have children I hope that I will be able to take them to him. He gives every child unparalleled care no matter what their background. He is wonderful with children, and his patients are his life. His care, concern, and kindness will never be matched by anyone. Having seen him care for children for over two decades, he inspired me to go to medical school. Dr. Hess is the best Doctor in the world. He was my husband's Dr. when he was a baby. Now I take my boys to see him. When the Insurance Dr.'s couldn't figure out what was wrong with my 5 month old son my mother-in-law told me to take him to see Dr. Hess. I did and he found a hole in his heart. When my youngest son was 4 months old and got sick and the insurance Dr. couldn't get him well. They kept telling me he had an ear infection. We went to Dr. Hess and he told me he had pneumonia. He was in the hospital for a week. I always take the kids to see him even if I have to pay out of pocket for the full amount of the office visit. We are now on an insurance plan that he takes. I have thanked God many times over the years for Dr. Hess and I hope to be able to thank him for years to come. more
