A Great Museum with a View 10/5/2006

The best part of the Great Lakes Science Center is the interactive exhibits on the third floor. It allows kids (and grown up kids) to have science come alive for them. The OmniMax Theatre is great but not for the faint of heart (or stomach). We especially enjoyed the kids area that goes to the terrace overlooking Lake Erie. It's a beautiful view as well as something educational. Add to this its neighbors, the Cleveland Browns Stadium and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and it is a great destination. more

Science Museum in our own backyard 3/16/2006

The Great Lakes Science Center is a great resource for those of us in Northeast Ohio, who for years had to drive to Columbus or Toledo to see a good science museum. The price is a little high compared to other Cleveland area museums, but it is worth it if you have never seen it before. The Science Center rarely changes any exhibits besides their traveling ones, so it gets old around the 3rd visit. The Omnimax is great and I could never tire of it, though. Bring lots of money for parking and be prepared for a good time. This would be a good first date (as long as you haven't already been there several times) or a good outing for children. It is quite crowded on weekends, but during the week, the wait for the interactive exibits is minimal. If you get a chance, go outside and see the beautiful North Coast harbor, and be amazed. more

Very Fun 8/20/2005

I took my cousins here for an afternoon of fun. It was great! Not only did the kids have a good time but so did I. Most things are interactive allowing first hand learning experiences. It was so great that the kids did not even want to leave and have been begging to go back ever since. The only downside is that we went on a Saturday afternoon and it was really crowded. Next time we will try a weekday. more

Outstanding Science Center = FUN & EDUCATIONAL 8/19/2005

The Great Lakes Science Center has so many exhibits. Right now they have Body Worlds 2 - the plasticized 200 human show. It is one fascinating show. They have birthday parties, camp-ins field trips, programs, OmniMax Theater, over 400 hands-on exhibits and when you're done, stop to have a bite to eat and visit their inside store. more

Entertaining lakefront museum 8/13/2005

The Great Lakes Science center is a very entertaining and educational experience for young and old. The science center consists of 3 floors of interactive science exhibits and a fantastic Omnimax theater. The theater is the best part; it shows fantastic movies that come to life on the huge screen that surrounds you with light and sound. more

This is a great deal for your money. It has so many fun things to do, while teaching children about science. There is an IMAX theater and a planetarium. It is located on the Lake next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is easy to get to and is sure to provide a day of fun for young children. more

Educational & Fun 7/8/2005

The Great Lakes Science Center has hands-on, interactive displays that teach students about science. It has two large sections on the environment (and the dangers of pollution) and the human body (with an interactive display showing how the heart works). It even has an indoor tornado! Kids learn while actively participating, so they build knowledge without even knowing it. The Great Lakes Science Center is best known for their IMAX theater, which is a huge dome that cost millions of dollars and takes the concept of "surround sound" to a whole new level. If only all movie theathers had this visual and auditory experience! The movies are superbly filmed and interesting, like the climb up Mount Everest, or an Outer Space feature. Their gift shop is overpriced, but has neat space knick knacks, cool glass objects, and different rocks to collect. They have astronautical foods, too, like preserved ice cream, pizza, and french fries that are edible in a zero gravity zone. more
