Best

I am a medical practice manager and I have been Dr. Wadsworth's happy patient for about twelve years now. My husband is also her patient and he has been pleased with her as well....

Worst

Virginia Highlands Primary Care is in a very convenient location, in the midst of the restaurant/bar scene. The office generally has openings available if you really need to see ...

Dr. Wadsworth is rude, incompetent, & neglectful 7/29/2009

I visited Dr. Wadsworth after injuring my ankle to the extent which I was pretty concerned. She didn't take me seriously. I felt as though she wasn't listening to what I was saying, and had already made up her mind that it was just a sprain the moment she walked in the door. She would cut me off and interrupt me while I was explaining what happened and how it felt. She was rude. She didn't take x-rays, or refer me to an orthopedist. Instead, she spent most of our visit lecturing me about proper footware and suggested I see a podiatrist about bunions. I walked on it for two more days, before deciding to find an orthopedist on my own. They did x-rays, and my Talus (ankle) bone was fractured all the way through. \r \r I was put on crutches, not allowed to put any weight on my ankle. Pros: location Cons: rude, inept physician more

No care, no comfort, inept physician 7/20/2009

I tend to prefer holistic treatment to straight up meds myself, I have no problem with that. The problem with Dr. Wadsworth is her attitude towards her patients, which is simply horrible. No matter what ailment brought you in, she will act as if you are the biggest time-wasting hypochondriac, question you mercilessly about your ""ailment"", then scoff at your answers. I avoided going to her unless absolutely necessary, but when I got pregnant with my son, I experienced such severe morning sickness that I had lost 18 lbs. by my third month, and couldn't even keep water down. I tried ginger ale, ginger pills, and saltine crackers (her recommendations) but nothing would stay down and I could barely walk for the dizziness and nausea. I went to her begging for help and she turned me out with the comment that I wasn't trying hard enough to get over it. That was it, I switched doctors who freaked at the weight loss, got me on Phenergen (an anti-nausea med) which got me back on track in less than two days, I could eat and 6 months later gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The point is, we go to doctors when we are sick, sometimes scared, always seeking SOME kind of comfort and release from discomfort or pain. Dr. Wadsworth clearly has no use for a bedside manner or sympathy. She will inevitably make you feel like some junkie looking to score free dope even if you are dying of swine flu. Only go if you have extreme masochistic tendencies. Pros: location Cons: horrible, soul crushing experience more

Dana Wadsworth - quite possibly the worst Dr in Atlanta 8/21/2008

Here is an account of my history with Dana Wadsworth. Years ago I developed migraines and finally decided to see a Dr. about them. My roommate at the time had gone to see Dr. Wadsworth and promptly dropped her as her PCP because she was so rude. Dr. Wadsworth actually called our house and demanded to know why my roommate had dropped her. I thought it was odd but as I generally can get along with anyone, I made an appointment with her because 1. she was a member of my hmo and 2. the office was very convenient. I left my first appointment in wide-eyed shock. She kept peppering me with questions about my headaches and it truly felt as though she did not believe I had headaches and was trying to trip me up. ""I thought you said you DID NOT have nausea with your headaches!"" She gave me a prescription for 6 imitrex pills (a regular package comes with 9 in it so that meant they pharmacist had to open the package and remove 3 pills from the blister pack!) When I went back for my follow up she was so rude I actually laughed out loud. The woman should not be practicing medicine. Anyway- I love the location of the office so I switched to Dr. Parry and he's wonderful. Pros: Dr. Parry Cons: Dr. Wadsworth more

Highly recommended primary care doctor 5/10/2008

I am a medical practice manager and I have been Dr. Wadsworth's happy patient for about twelve years now. My husband is also her patient and he has been pleased with her as well. No, Dr. Wadsworth isn't always ""warm and fuzzy,"" but she has never been anything short of professional with me. Dr. Wadsworth is also probably not the doctor for you if you already ""know"" what is wrong or which medications you need, which I'm sure is frustrating to some patients. To me, though, this shows that she is responsible in her medical decision making. I would (and have) recommend her to anyone who needs a good primary care doctor. \r \r Also, as a medical professional, I would remind anyone reading the postings on this site that there are two sides to every story. Healthcare is a tough profession and there is no way to make everyone happy all the time.\r \r \r Pros: excellent doctor Cons: I have not experienced any more

Worst experience with a doctor, ever. Total rip off. 8/23/2007

Dr. Wadsworth is the worst health care professional I have encountered in my entire life. She was insensitive and belligerent and repeatedly accused me of ""wasting her time"" with my ailment, which is actually quite painful. She was so rude I actually got up and walked out in the middle of my examination, even though I never received treatment and had to miss work for the appointment. There's no reason for anyone to put up with this kind of behavior from anyone, let alone someone who claims to be a doctor. In addition, both the waiting room and the examination room were dirty, and she was dressed highly inappropriately. She also did not wear a lab coat, scrubs, or a name tag. The physician's assistant, on the other hand, wore scrubs and was professional and caring: I can only hope she gets another job. As for Dr. Wadsworth, I don't believe she should be practicing medicine. No one should treat patients so insensitively. I complained to my insurance company. Hopefully if enough people complain they will drop her from the approved doctor list. I also complained to Dekalb Medical Center, since her office is part of their medical group. I would suggest anyone who has such a bad experience do the same. Pros: None! Cons: Everything! more

Visiting Dr. Wadsworth May Be Hazardous To Your Mental Health 8/23/2007

Dr. Wadsworth's beside manner is monsterous! She is rude, condesending and just plain unprofessional. I went to her practice yesterday for the first time was treated like I was dirt. My arm was bleeding from having tests done and she just slapped a bandaid on it, completely missing the wound. I had to take the bandaid off and reapply it myself. When I did that, she gave me such a dirty look that I thought she was going to strike me. The way that she treated me almost brought me to tears. I was even afraid for my health. I no longer trusted her and walked out of the examination! Run, I said RUN from this crazy woman! more

Avoid 7/24/2007

I found Dr. Wadsworth to be very condescending. I had hoped that sticking with her for a few years would breed some familiarity and therefore a better bedside manner. Not the case. I finally gave up and switched over to Dr. Scott Parry. I've been happy since. Cons: Lousy bedside manner, terrible attitude of office workers more

Good Doctor 6/19/2007

I have gone to her for several years and she wasn't the best at bedside manner at first but after she knows you she has been very good. Yes she will give you antibiotics if needed but she does not want to just give them out for everything lets face it, they are not the solution to everything and can be detremintal in some cases sorry she cares! As for her bedside manner she doesn't know you from the next person at first and she I believe is concerned about peoples intentions at first. There are people that are addicts and looking for Dr's that will just give them medicine and you should be thankful she is not one of them. I recommend her to anybody that is looking for a Doc that will try to do what is right for you LONG term not just to clear you up right now. more

eh ... 4/21/2007

I used to love this practice ... when Dr. Day was there. Dr. Day was truly caring and compassionate. He moved way out to the sticks, so I gave the other doctors a try. I've felt beaten over the head by this woman more than once -- quite honestly, she seems a bit self-righteous and judgmental to me. I like the fact that she doesn't prescribe unnecessary medicines, but I had adverse reactions to more than one herbal rememdy she recommended. Do yourself a favor and go to Highland Urgent Care instead. Pros: convenient location Cons: bedside manner more

Virginia Highland Primary Care, Great Service Confident Doctor 4/9/2007

I've been a patient of Dr. Wadsworth for 12 years I feel that she is very professional and has great concern and compassion for her patients she her time to take of me. She's attentive never in a rush and if she has a concern she's prompt in attending the needs of her patients. I've never had a bad experience in the past 12 years under her care. I would highly recommend her to anyone who's looking for a very good and professional doctor. She has passion for her profession and does it well. Pros: The doctor and the staff treats me with respect and dignity Cons: Could use more parking more

Dr. Wadsworth does not play around. 3/30/2007

I just wanted to state that my experience with Dr. Wadsworth was nothing like the other reviewer's. First of all, I was a first time patient and they got me in that day, which I appreciated. Second of all, I also went there for a sinus infection, and Dr. Wadsworth made no mention of her anti-antiobiotics policy to me when she filled out my prescription, which did include antibiotics, by the way. I didn't see any tarot cards or witchcraft being practiced. I trust her, and a lot of people in our office go to her. more

Waste of Time 2/14/2007

Do not go to this doctor if you are ill or in need of actual medical attention. Truth in advertising for this office would require a neon sign and tarot card readings. I'd heard rumors that her bedside manner was lacking, but made an appointment anyway since her office is so convenient for me. I was very sick and suspected a sinus infection. Little did I know, this doctor doesn't believe in antibiotics. Think about that for a moment. ""Dr."" Wadsworth ""prescribed"" an herbal remedy to clear my nasal passages--despite the fact that I didn't have a stuffy nose. I was in her office because I had severe sinus pressure in my forehead, a consistent fever lasting 3 days, and nausea. She advised me to call her back if I wasn't feeling better or felt worse after TWO WEEKS. I left her office and visited a doc-in-a-box, where I was promptly diagnosed with acute bronchitis. I was prescribed an antibiotic and instructed to take it immediately to reduce the risk of the infection turning into pneumonia, since it was in my lungs. Had I followed ""Dr."" Wadsworth's care plan, I'd have been hospitalized. Please, do not use this doctor--she should not be practicing. more
