Best

thanks to another reviewer below, I was able to find my long lost love.......Bombay Palace!! the lunch buffet is practically identical to what use to be offered at Bombay Palace....

Worst

After reading the reviews, decided to go all the way and try the restaurant. The Tandoori food was very dry and had a peculiar taste in all the pieces (tandoori chiken, Seekh keba...

Sometimes iffy, but always worth it 6/10/2005

I've been going to Gourmet India regularly for over 3 years now. The service can't be beat. Since the first change of ownership a couple of years ago, the food became very inconsistent in quality. However, they have just recently been acquired by the former owners of Bombay Palace. It remains to be seen what will happen, but they have been improving the food to where it used to be. I can't speak to ala carte, but you're not likely to find such a good lunch buffet for the price., particularly in West Houston. Pros: Service, Value Cons: Inconsistent quality more

Disappointing food at dinner 6/5/2004

After reading the reviews, decided to go all the way and try the restaurant. The Tandoori food was very dry and had a peculiar taste in all the pieces (tandoori chiken, Seekh kebab..). The saag panner was better. The dal had a very strange taste to it too perhaps because of the cream used. The service was good and somewhat made up for the food. Pros: Good Service more

Always awesome food 5/20/2004

The food is very good, and consistent. We really like that, as time permits, they will deliver within a reasonable distance. Although we are a little over the distance limit, Gourmet India delivers. Highly recommended. more

Love it! Tasty, right on time and romantic. The staff is very polite and friendly. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative they have a very inexspensive lunch buffet. When I get back to Houston this is my first stop! Pros: great ambience, very polite staff, unique choices Cons: hard to find, they need a uniform, need a better logo more

Great Service, Little Pricey 8/31/2002

As an Indian cuisine buff, I ordered the not on the menu authentic dish of Karai Chicken, My wife ordered the Korma. The Karai was wonderful, most Indians in Houston don't even know what it is! The Korma on the other hand, was disappointing, powdery, the spices were a little too strong, not hot but spicy... One of the better places in Houston. Also, a good curry shouldn't cost as much as a good steak... Pros: Service, Good Parking, Great Karai Chicken Cons: Poor Korma, Pricey, Distance from Houston more

If you love Indian food ... 8/8/2002

then this is the place for you! The food is wonderful, it's a very pleasant restaurant, and the staff treat you as if you were eating in their own homes. I especially like the Chicken Korma! The flavors are so intricate, and yet it's not a ""fiery"" dish at all. It goes with the basmati rice a treat, and don't forget the wonderful Nan bread. the prices are very reasonable too. Two people can enjoy a meal for slightly more than $20 (without drinks). Pros: great food, pleasant wait staff, good prices more
