Never Again! 1/3/2012

I have tried this salon a few times b/c of promotions etc. and always leave feeling ripped off. SOOOO expensive and not at all impressive. A half foil without a blow dry or cut was $97 - and I left with wet hair! I feel like they are trying to be "upscale" but, they really are not, they are just overpriced. While this time, I was ok with my color (the last time was a disaster) and my stylist was friendly, all the other employees seemed 'put out' or snooty. I will stick to me Clayton salon where for LESS money I get a foil/cut/and style. Never again - no matter what the promo may be, will I do this again. I feel ripped off. And cold, from wet hair.... more

Good place, but expensive 5/9/2011

I get my nails done here and they always turn out good. Every now and then they run half prices specials, which makes their great services such a deal! It's hard for me to go and pay full price though cause their prices are high. Last time I checked $57 is the cheapest pedi. Similar salon/spas in the area offer the same pedicure for $35-$45 and many places do offer pedi's of the same quality for $25 and under. So to me, the prices are a rip off and they seem to always be going up. I notice a dollar or two extra has been tacked on my past couple services here. I also received keratin treatment here. I thought the price seemed ok because you got the free shampoo and conditioner. Well, I was wrong. Some places have it for $100 under what I paid and you can get the sulfate free shampoo that you have to use at even Walmart now. I was disappointed because my keratin did not last nearly as long as it said (3-5 months), which is disappointing for paying what I did and having it only last 6 weeks. I have also gotten my hair dyed here and have been very satisfied with the results. They use high quality dye that lasts and doesn't fade out. Yet again the price is outrageous though. I can get it for $40 less elsewhere and it will include a cut/style. The services are good, but make sure you have the $$$ to go there or book when they are offering 1/2 price. more

Very Happy! 1/13/2011

I had a great experience and very happy with my service. My aesthetician was very professional, friendly, and on-time. I will return to see her again. more

Entire staff is so nice 12/20/2010

I seriously refuse to go anywhere but here for my hair. Crystal has done my color for me for about 2 years now and is AMAZING. If I have an emergency need I get worked in and if she is not available the rest of the staff goes out of their way to contact her to find out about my color and to make me feel at home. I would not trust anyone else to touch it. In addition, the entire staff is so nice to talk to and always stops to catch up on my life. more

Great experience 12/13/2010

I've been to this spa for two separate girls pampering days, and had a great experience both times. The massages and pedicures were wonderful. Services are a little pricey, but it was worth it for a clean spa and friendly service. more

Well worth the price 12/9/2010

Their pedicures are well worth the price (around $50). The price varies depending on what type of pedicure you get. I had the basic one. It is soooo relaxing. They offer you drinks and magazines to read while you soak your feet in a warm foot bath. The manicurist who did my pedicure was very nice. They give you a great leg massage. The polish they used lasted a really long time too. If you go...make sure you wear sandals (so your polish doesn't smudge) and shorts or pants you can push up past your knees. They offer gift certificates if you want to give a great gift to someone. more

Pleased with all 12/7/2010

My sister and I made appointments for our first ever visit to a spa. We were pleasantly surprised with the services we received. We had facials, pedicures, manicures and haircuts and we were pleased with all. More recently, we took our mother there for her birthday (also her first visit to a spa) and she enjoyed a facial as well. We will certainly choose this spa when we decide to have another "Girls' Day Out" again! more

Rude staff and horrible service 8/27/2010

My mother and I both got our hair cut there during their back to school special. Our haircuts were on different days y different stylists and both of us are extremely unhappy with how our haircuts came out. I just asked for a shoulder length cut with layers and angled bangs. My hair is so uneven and there are lines with each layer. She also cut my bangs completely wrong and too short so there is no way of fixing them. I have been happier with my cuts and beauty schools and custom cuts. I thought because Glow was running a Special I would try them to get a more professional cut, but I was wrong. The staff is also very stuck up and make you feel uncomfortable. When my mom was asked where she usually got her hair done and she replied Custom Cuts. The employee stopped and looked at another employee and snickered. That was super rude. I definitely do not recommend going there. The servives are definitely not worth there expensive prices. more

Ignore the riff raff and try for yourself!!! Amazing! 7/28/2009

If you want a relaxing experience give them a try! I have been a client to scandals for many years now and have always been pleased. It hurts me even as a client to hear people trash talking the place that houses so many wonderful employees. Sure they may be negative "hireez" at times, but they sort them out! Then they are left with only the most loyal! Which is not only a benefit to them, but also to YOU!!! Think about it... if someones loves their job and is loyal to them they will be just as loyal to you as thier client and take pride in thier work. If some salon goers weren't so catty there would never be a bad thing said! I think the true problem of negativity resides in the person who holds the grudge long enough to write thier bad review. Its sad that it could actually make someone feel good to talk bad about something or someone! They are the real problem here! The salon is a must try!!! Pros: Extremely experienced and professional employees Cons: None with the spa!!!! The badmouthing of outsiders... :( more

An Unfortunate Situation 7/28/2009

While no one can argue that Scandals has had its fair share of problems, the company has perservered and has continued to offer stylists, massage therapists, estheticians and nail artists a place to grow their careers. It is unfortunate that while we all share a passion for the salon and spa industry, there are some that would set out to sabotage the careers of others because of a grudge that is held against ownership or management of a former employer. With a hair department that has a combined The fact of the matter is, some of those "wonderful people" that were former friends and co-workers, deserve the chance to build a career for themselves at Scandals Day Spa, as others have been allowed in the past. No matter your thoughts on current owners or managers of the company, the careers of those still employed at Scandals Day Spa shouldn't be jeopardized. I sincerely wish that those no longer working at Scandals Day Spa, no matter the reason, experience nothing but success in the future, and I only hope that they are now able to allow those still employed at Scandals, to experience the success that they deserve as well. As for the concern regarding our "new and inexperienced" employees, I would like to point out that in our Esthetics department, we have a combined 29 years of experience in the industry, in the Nail Department, 37 years of experience, in the hair department, 20 years of experience and in the Massage department, over 12 years of experience. I hope this gives those that question the capabilities of the current staff at Scandals some ease that we are more than experienced and trained to handle all of your beauty needs. more

It makes me sad... 7/28/2009

It's really a shame that business makes people act this to each other. Scandals has been through some tough times, and yet we continue working to provide employment for a number of people in the industry that we love. What I find so sad is when people leave a company, as we know happens all the time in the beauty industry, and start trash talking that company. It makes sense that when you quit or get fired from a company you may hate the owner and/or manager, but what about your "FRIENDS" at that company? Do you not realize that while you are busy trying to put the hated owner out of business you are also jeopardizing your "FREINDS'" employment, and their ability to provide for their families? I can say, as one of those hated managers, that I have NEVER told a lie to a guest, not that a person has moved out of town when they didn't, and not that we had problems with an employee when we didn't. It would be nice if we could all just move on and build our careers in the new directions that we are all pursuing, and let those we've left behind do the same. more

Talk of financial problems and downsizing to smaller place 6/20/2009

Don't know for sure what's going on there, but the product shelves are bare, people seem out of sorts and familiar faces keep disappearing. WASTED THREE YEARS OF MY LIFE 6/20/2009

After spending three years of my life learning the craft of hair design, I was let go of my position because I refused to sign a contract that would prevent me from working in the area, and supporting my family. I have now overheard the management telling my guests over the phone while in my company, that they had a problem with me, makeing me sound horrible. other guests have phoned me to tell me that they said i quit. Cant keep their stories straight, when the truth is that when you disagree with their business ethics, which I have kept my mouth shut for way to long, and speak up about being treated unfairly, YOU GET LET GO!! But in all fairness, they did me the favor, because I can go back to doing what I LOVE!!!! Pros: MET ALOT OF WONDERFUL PEOPLE Cons: EMPLOYER IS CUT THROAT more

Not worth your time nor money 3/17/2009

Talk about unprofessional. Twice, twice I dealt with this place. The first time was on a gift card, good service, manicure, but terrible customer service from everyone else. At one point someone left crying. Very confusing to see while trying to relax. No big deal though since I was happy with my mani. The next time I booked with the same girl only to figure out that she had moved on (which the girl on the phone sounded like she wasn't happy at that fact). So I booked with another young woman. Very expensive, but I like to find a routine. I ended up waiting 30 minutes in the little receptionist area where apparently all the action goes down. I would say I was upset for the wait, but the entertainment kept the time flying. The older manager or whoever she may be, proceeded to hunt down almost every girl in the room, tearing into them. If you lost sight of her you could still hear little outbursts of anger and whimpers coming from the staff, it was downright frightening. I was in some weird drama film. When I actually got my mani/pedi it was fine, but the girl doing it look like she just went through Hell and back. The bottom line is that the place is a mess, the service is ok, but it is silly atmosphere with no sense of professionalism or customer service. Good for a cheap laugh, but for the price I would recommend steering clear of Scandals and avoid the embarrassment. Pros: some skilled workers Cons: price, attitude, professionalism more

Prices are very high, Natalie is fantastic, manicure is a joke. 1/28/2009

I have been going to Natalie for about a year now. She is fantastic! Great hair cuts. VERY nice. Prices are outrageous. The first 3 times I walked out with a bill close to $200. One thing you have to be careful about is that they really push the products. You go to the counter to check out and there is something there that your stylist recommends. The first time I felt obligated to purchase, then I wised up. I got a manicure with a friend of mine and it was really, really, really, bad. They don't even soak your nails in water. They claim that they absorb the moisture and then the polish doesn't stick...hmm... My cuticles were not done well and my French manicure chipped the next day. I have never gone home and removed a French manicure within two days. I had even talked my friend into going out and pampering herself...usually, these are very relaxing. I was embarrased and felt bad that I talked her into it. My friend's polish had bubble spots in it and it didn't look like her cuticles had been touched. Needless to say, I am returning to my other place that charges you $20 instead of $55 and you get a fantastic job. Natalie is the only thing taking me back there. I highly recommend her! Pros: Natalie fantastic, hard to get an appointment :) Cons: Very expensive. Manicure is really poor quality. more

Cara has miracle hands! 11/14/2008

I met Cara while she was still in school and will follow her across the country if I have to. My skin has never looked this good, and people are asking me if I lost weight or changed my hair. I barely even have to wear powder and foundation after one of her facials, and ever since she has opened my eyes to glycolic peels, I swear I see less wrinkles. She is so warm and sweet, keeps me informed about the best products for my skin, and is so well educated about makeup and skincare. I can't wait to have her make me beautiful for my wedding day. Thank you Cara, you have a client for life! Pros: Cara is the best, well priced, great specials!! more

Rude, conceited, overated..... 9/12/2008

I had heard much ado about Scandals as one of the premiere salons in the area, so when my assignment from my editor was to write a review, I was needless to say, excited....and then disappointed. It was not so much the services as the attitudes. Evidently they are aware of their reputation...and it has gone to their heads. So not to duplicate my article in full, I will keep this brief. My haircut was acceptable, my color was ok (although it is fading much quicker than I am used to, I believe they use a very popular and common American brand, as opposed to the far superior Italian which I am used to) and I had an above average massage. I simply sensed so much elitism and arrogance in the air from the time I arrived up until when I left and they tried to initiate an utterly ridiculous policy of scheduling a series of appointments for me over the course of several months. I was insulted by the assumption that they had been so fantastic that I would need to plan my year around them. I will leave you with this "at least my magazine footed the bill." more

Disappointed 8/19/2008

I have been going here for awhile now for peds and mans. The first girl I went to after years of working there is now at another spa. So I started going to Sarah and she's great!! That's the only great. I had my reg. appt and my babysitting didn't work out so I decided to bring my 5 yr old. That's the first time I ever brought her in over 2 yrs. I loaded her up with books and stuff to keep her busy till her dad would pick her up. Needless to say when I checked in I had such an attitude from the front desk girl. She asked if my daughter had an appointment and was so rude - she said that children should only be there if they have an appt. I told her to cancel my appt. She asked if I would like to reschedule. I told her NO. My daughter and I left and my 5 year old cried all the way home "because she couldn't go to the spa". I was so bothered by this that I called back up there and asked to speak to the manager or owner. THe girl on the phone told me that they weren't avaliable. I asked her to have one of them call me. Well it's been 2 mos and haven't heard from either. I am very disappointed that this is how they run their bussiness. I won't be going back. Pros: Sarah was nice and good. Cons: The attitude of this South County Spa more

Mothers Day Gift 6/9/2007

I was just at Scandals Day Spa today using a gift certificate that I got for Mother's Day. I LOVED IT! The girl that did my facial was so informative about my skin that I ended up purchasing a package from her to come in for skin treatments for the next 8 months! The facial was so relaxing and I my pedicure was even better! I could have my feet rubbed all day long if someone would let me! I will definitely be going back...hopefully my hubbie will keep getting me gift certificates! Pros: incredible facialists and manicurist, relaxing atmosphere Cons: crowded front counter more
