The magic house! Say that in a room full of children and you will hear screams and shouts for sure. Each time your child will find a new adventure that they seem to have over looked the time before.
Admission is minimal - however there are coupons on the St Louis Family Attractions Card - (avail at Schnucks) - Free child's admission with a paying adult. They also offer half price admission every day to the military!
Every third Friday of the month is FREE family fun night. The magic house is then free to your entire family from 5:30 to 9:00 pm.

More
If you've ever wanted to climb in that ball pit with the kids, or jump on the giant slide, only to be foiled by the attendant next to the 'kids only' sign, this is the place for you. Kids and adults are allowed on the slides, ball pits, tunnels and ladders.
The tunnels will fit a small-to average adults, although if you're tall or broad you might not be able to get into all of the play areas. There are also alternative walkways for those who are not so keen on climbing and sliding.
Watch out for unsupervised kids, though, as there are usually a few cutting in line, jumping on slides before the landing area is cleared, and picking on smaller kids in the ball pit. While there are a few attendants around, they don't usually step in unless someone's going to get hurt, so watch your kids if you don't want them to get bullied.

The Saint Louis Art Museum located in Forest Park in St. Louis has more than 100 galleries. The building was designed by architect Cass Gilbert as the Palace of Fine Arts for the 1904 World's Fair in Forest Park. Standing atop Art Hill, it is the "crown" jewel" of the 1,370-acre park. This museum seems to go one forever-room after room! Admission is FREE! This is not an art gallery...certainly there are many paintings and drawings to see...but, there are many artifacts dating back thousands of years. There truly is something for everyone here. I wouldn't recommend this for small, tired children. I would do this first-with the promise of the zoo to follow! We found this to be very interesting-the building alone is worth going into. http://www.slfp.com/ForestParkAM.htm

The Laumeier sculpture park is so nice! It is so well taken care of and it is fun to walk around. They have trails that lead to wooded areas, and plain paved trails with gentle inclines. There is a childrens section as well with fun sculptures that have seen many a child climb upon them. It is a great place to take a stroll with a loved one.

I have a 2 year old who is obsessed with trains and this is definitely the place he wanted to go. He climbed on them, played in them, and had the time of his life. Then, they have an exploration center that's out of this world, where the kids make crafts. I think he liked this as much as the trains!!!

This is one of those unique St. Louis attractions that make the city such a great place to be, whether you're a long-time resident or a weekend visitor. As a kid, I loved taking field trips to the Eugene Field house and learned to love poetry after connecting the writer and his work with this location. The toys are enough to pull kids in, the history will keep adults interested, and before you know it, everyone has learned something AND had a good time.
Pros: Totally unique, All-ages fun
