Ted Drewes rocks.
The fact is that I can't order an "All Shook Up," without singing "uh huh huh" and raising my lip to look like Elvis. (An All Shook Up is a banana and Reese's peanut butter cup concrete at Ted Drewes and it is by far my favorite), and for some reason that makes me really happy. I think Ted Drewes brings out the kid in all of us, and while, IMHO, there are better frozen treats to be had (shaved ice over ice cream in Kauai, Hawaii), you'd be hard pressed to find a better quick dessert experience in St. Louis.
I have wowed many a friend from out of town with the Ted Drewes phenomenon. As one poster correctly pointed out, the hype gets pretty big, but if you simply don't pump it up too big and instead let your guest discover the magic on his or her own it will never failed to please.

I am a transplant from Pittsburgh Pa. Believe me I had a difficult time finding good pizza in St. Louis. Everything was your everyday pizza chains. Finally, I found Fortel's, a family run Pizzaria for families. Fortel's is a great place to dine after the game. It is a great place to have any celebration. Fortel's takes pride in its product and always satisfies new and established customers. I just wish Fortel's would open a restaurant in Oakville, Mo. Thanks Fortel's, for making me feel at home in St. Louis!
Pros: Ample parking...nice and friendly dining room...excellent service
Cons: Not close enough... need a restaurant in south county...specifically, Oakville, Mo.

OK, one of the neatest places in St.Louis. Remember fondue? That's right people it is back! This is a very upscale fondue restaurant that serves anything from just appetizers, to a full three course meal. The dessert fondues are the best, with all different kinds of chocolate combinations like S'mores, and white chocolate with a little amaretto. The prices are high, but the service is good. And the location in the city is wonderful with lots of great shops around the restaurant.

Best steaks in town! I eat here as often as I can. I expecially like the large fillet mignon, it's not only delicious but a great value, the salad dressing is in a league of its own too .
Pros: Delicious eat early
Cons: Avoid weekend evenings, they are rightfully busy and service is slower

I just visited this restaurant for the first time. I had heard so much about it that we decided to go there for the Valentine's Day special. The drinks were superb, the employees friendly and fun. The food was absolutely incredible. When I went to the bar area to ask where the restroom was, a man who worked there didn't just point me in the right direction, he had me take his arm and personally showed me where it was. I have never had that type of personal service before. Raphael, our server, was fun, very conscientious and thorough explaining how to cook our food, what the sauces were, and knowledgeable about the ingredients and made helpful suggestions to help us pick our perfect menu.... Unfortunately for me, I got very quickly very ill sitting at the table half way through our meal (or more accurately "experience"). IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM OR THE FOOD. What amazed me was that the staff there was extremely considerate of me once my boyfriend asked the manager for a cold cloth for me. She immediately brought it over along with a bag of ice and a cup of water. We had to leave before the desert which was bitterly disappointing, however what will stay in my mind is how Raphael helped my boyfriend walk me all the way outside to the car to make sure I got there OK as I was light headed and dizzy. To say they went "above and beyond" hardly seems to cover it. They were so kind to me and my feelings of stupidity getting sick. They truly made the experience an enjoyable one (all things considered). I will go back and would recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants a special night out and experience. While it is an expensive evening, it was well worth it!! Thanks to everyone there.
Pros: Great food, service, drinks, ambience
Cons: Can't think of one!

Charming, non-slick, old-timey atmosphere with great food. I ate there twice with a woman I was secretly in love with. Nothing ever came of it, but I still remember the linguine with clams!
Pros: Example: best croissants in town
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

St.Louis's Italian community is fondly called The Hill. There are many, many restaurants to pick from but there is one that stands out above the others. Cunetto's is a fantastic place. It has a very old world feeling. When you first walk in there is a lovely little bar area for you to sit down and have a drink while you wait for your table (and you will have to wait, there is often a line outside waiting for the place to even open). The staff is very friendly and helps those who cannot make up their minds about what to order. The side salads are great, and the food is just amazing. Everything on the menu is top rate.

This little shop in St.Louis, MO is wonderful. You MUST try the BLT, I swear you get about 2lbs of bacon on your sandwhich. This place is famous for their candy and malts. The shop is very small and difficult to walk around in, however it is worth the wait if there is a line. I would recommend not going around Easter time because the line for the candy is often out the door and around the block. The staff is friendly and very outgoing.
