i stumbled upon this salon last sunday when they were doing a cuta-thon for a local charity. i didn't have an appointment, but they were so helpful and managed to get me in even though they were PACKED! the stylist recommended that my hilites be taken to a liter blond to remove some of the gold i had along with adding in some lolites. she then cut my hair, updating my look with the most precise haircut i've ever had...love it.... Pros: salon that helps local charity! good color more

I read the last review and decided to book an appointment on saturday! I've been to places where the offer doesn't seem to exist once they get you in and add on all sorts of hidden charges! NOT HERE! I was treated so nicely, from the latest mags to herbal tea and cookies and that was before my appt even started.....My appt was with Jennifer who did beautiful hilites along with a new, updated haircut. Awesome deal! 3/6/2008

Love this salon, first of all- got beautiful creamy hi-lites (not brassy at all, which I had been getting lately from my old hairdresser) and an awesome new haircut. my hair was supposed to be $220 for cut and hilites, I'm used to paying around $300 but after my discount for being a first time customer they knocked $44 off the total. Nice! they even have customer incentives! Very nice salon. When you're finished with your appointment make sure to take a walk over to the country mart, cool, upscale stores with celeb sightings.... Pros: Very cool, upscale area that I didn't know existed more

I'm a little nervous about trying new salons, so I sent my husband in first :) His appointment was with Sonya, who did a really nice job on him, even trimmed his ear hair..... Anyways, I went the following day, got a cut and color and love it.. She really takes time to listen to what you want and I could tell she enjoys what she does. Pros: nice vibe more

I had my first appointment here yesterday and would like to say how all-around wonderful it was! My appointment was with Sonya, a very talented haircutter! She began my service with a complimentary conditioning treatment and then gave me a beautiful new haircut. A loyal and ALWAYS happy client of Terra!! 2/28/2008

After reading the previous review about my wonderful stylist I felt I must respond. I have been a client of Terra Nieto (not Tarra) for almost a year now and have always left the Gillian Bissett Colour Salon extremely happy, so happy that pretty much ALL my friends now see her! Her prices are very competitive within the area and worth every penny. As the saying goes, if you need to ask the price, you probably can't afford it anyways! I had an appointment yesterday with a girl by the name of Sonya! What a blessing she was. First of all she stayed late just to accomodate me, and I received the BEST color and cut you can imagine! Sonya is definitely the one you wanna see! I loved the fact that they are willing to stay a little later to accomodate your schedule all in all Great Salon! I found this salon on citysearch and booked an appointment. Unfortunately, the stylist I was supposed to see was sick, so I saw Jennifer instead. Well, my hair looks awesome. I just had a really nice experience at this salon on thursday! My appointment was with dulce, who is wonderful. She took such great care of me and my hair. I could not be happier, honestly. My color is beautiful and very shiny, even my husband noticed!!!!! more

Best Haircolor & Cut on the Westside! 11/30/2007

I've tried a lot of the salons here in Santa Monica and although was never unhappy, I never felt that WOW your'e supposed to feel until now! I entered into the Gillian Bissett Color Salon with blah hair and came out with honestly- the most beautiful haircolor/ hilites and cut ever! She wasn't even horrified that I had from time to time thrown on my own color (some previous stylists have reprimanded me for that!). I will never leave, I love this place. more

i have seen this salon for quite some time and always thought it would be too pricey for me, so when i saw the deal they are offering i decided to check it out! i was booked with tara for color and cut and i love it, she gave me a complete make-over making my long straggly hair into a gorgeous a-line bob and my color ain't too shabby either, she has given me body and shine that i never knew my hair could have.........i got my cut and color for $136, normally $170......not too bad for brentwood!!!!! Really nice experience from start to finish! 11/12/2007

Went here for the first time Friday for hilites and a blowdry and was in and out in 11/2 hours! I'm used with an appointment at the salon taking most of the day so this was nice. I would recommend this salon for hilites, blowdrys and time well managed! Pros: Hilites, blowdry's & Starbucks! more

Terra gives the BEST blonde hair 10/10/2007

I just went to see Terra for an all-over blonde without brassiness and she did exactly that! My hair is the best color ever, I love it!!!! I consider myself extremely picky when it comes to my hair, so when booking my first time appointment I would see no other than the owner (Gillian Bissett). On my arrival I was greeted very pleasantly and offered tea OR coffee & cookies (nice touch), and after a wonderful consultation I then received my hair & scalp treatment...(heavenly). My hair was then cut to perfection and styled beautifully and in my 46 years I must say that this was the first time I left a salon and did NOT go home and style it myself! A wonderful find that I think everyone should know about! Pros: beautiful haircut! more

Great place for curly hair--even mixed chicks! 8/19/2007

Terra took me in for a same day appointment. She didn't double-book me (which I hate!!) with another client so I had her full attention and got first-rate service. She started off by evaluating my hair and asking questions to get a good understanding of my needs and desires. The scalp elixir was awesome and left my hair shiny. Terra made adjustments the throughout the whole service just for my hair type. The cut was the best part. She cut my hair while it was dry & curly--not soaking wet and straight! NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THIS! It makes perfect sense. She did it this way so that the shape and cut would be just right and no surprises when the cut was done and my hair dried. Finally, she gave me great tips and product guidance. She blew my hair out straight and it looked great. I am of African American decent and have been searching for someone to guide me and help me with my hair. Terra is superb! more
