I'm an actor (who isn't in L.A.?) who needs to look professional. My stylist, Bree, knows exactly what I want and delivers every time. And if I want to try something news for a while, she's able to give me precisely what I ask for. Reasonable pricing. The only thing that's a little annoying is that they have no bathroom. So you go before you show up. Not too tough. Anyway, from the shampoo to the cut to the product, Bree has taken great care of me for a couple years...so I finally decided to write a review. She (and Gillian Bissett Colour Salon) deserve it! more

Well after moving to LA, I started looking for new salon/ stylist but with not much luck. I finally got a referral from a girl at work whom I noticed had great natural hi-lights. And that's how I met, Justine. She really does such a great job. She was friendly and took time to listen to all my stories and took in consideration my thoughts about my hair. I had a mix of colors from different hi-lights that I had gotten from different people..... she blended them and gave me a little dimension......like magic. I've now been back twice and my hi-lights look the best they have ever looked! Thanks Justine! The salon is a cute little place with a relaxed, friendly vibe. more

I've been out of work for 7 months now so this awesome deal came at a perfect time! I was a little nervous going to a new salon BUT honestly my experience was terrific! Terra my stylist was so knowledgeable! She was meticulous with the foils and again with the haircut, explaining everything she did. Beautiful color, cool runway shows to watch while processing and yummy coffee & cookies :) They also have a wonderful referral program A+++ more

I love my my hair right now. I wish it wouldn't even grow for a while. I went in and got the best highlights I've ever gotten. So soft and natural looking and not too blond or brassy. Its a very cute little salon with a great vibe. I highly recommend it. more

I totally disagree with the previous persons review! I got the same deal today and my stylist was Hannah who was amazing! My hilites are gorgeous, very natural and my cut is FAB! So glad I have plans tonight to showoff my new do :) P.S $150 sure beats the $300 I've been paying in B-Hills more

I went into the salon because of the great coupon and my experience was not worth the discount. I got a cut and color and I'll start with the positive, the person cutting my hair was great at cutting so if you just need a hair cut then you are safe. However, the color I got was not a pleasant experience. I felt like I was her first color client ever. First of all, after she had foils in half my hair she started pulling them out and spraying them down cause she said, they were on too long since she is slow and methodical (she soaked me through this process). Then she finished my hair and put me under the dryer for the other 1/3 of my head that was in foils. Afterwards she washed my hair and then put toner on my highlights and the strange part was that she kept parting my hair and looking at it like there was something wrong and I kept asking, ""does the color look ok"" and she would reply ""yes, it's great"", but then continue to comb through my hair over and over again. Then she walks into the back room and starts mixing color and I ask what she is doing and she tries to act like it's no problem at all....just that she is ""a perfectionist"" and finally I had to say, ""ma'am, you are making me nervous that there is something wrong here, could you tell me what you are doing""....she finally confessed that there was some ""bleeding"" of my highlights and she needed to darken an area. at the end of the day, the color was not what I wanted (too dark), there are still a couple areas of ""bleeding"", and I spent way too much time at the salon to have this kind of result. I will never recommend this place or return unless I just need a haircut. more

I live in the area and after reading about the salon in Julys ELLE magazine I stopped in to buy some of their amazing products! Anyway, after chatting with a couple of the girls I ended up staying to get my hair colored and I'm very happy I did! The girls that work there are so nice and really love what they do! Justine was my stylist at PR and Partners in DC. We?ve stayed in touch since she left and when she told me about her new place, I decided to give her a quick plug. She was good to me for so many years that it?s the least I can do. BOTTOM LINE: Justine is an amazing stylist that anyone would be very lucky to have. She is friendly, careful, and full of useful hair tips. Her color work is top notch. She will have you looking sharp for weeks after leaving her chair. Visit her at Gillian Bissett Colour Salon. Jillian is one of the newer stylists at the salon. She did a great job with my hair! I wanted something edgier yet subtle. She followed my specifications but also had such a great knowledge of color and what looks good - my hair came out better than I could have possibly imagined! The salon is beautiful and there is more than ample parking. The pricing is affordable. I highly recommend her for hair cut/trim or color. She is enthusiastic and fun and loves to make her clients happy. more

I have been around hair stylists and salons most of my adult life. My Ex was a stylist at a very posh and famous salon in Beverly Hills. Everytime I got my hair done it was a completele drag-waiting forever, snotty receptionists, etc. The first time I walked into Gillian Bisett I thought to myself, ""This is what getting your hair done should be like~a treat!"" My stylist is Waylan Whelan-(she is named after the famous Waylan Jennings)she is professional, creative and fun! I absolutely adore her! I brought her a drawing of a long shag bob. She said, ""let's give it a try!"" She spent a long time w me and never once did I get a snotty vibe from her, like most stylists from upscale salons. By the end of my cut, color and blow dry I was completely re-newed, revived and re-done. And....beautiful! She is the best stylist hands down! She is also a delight to talk to;her background is very interesting. If you want to really be good to yourself, I highly recommend Waylon at the Gillian Bisset Salon. I've had long hair since i was 16 and have always struggled to find a stylist who could give me the cut that I wanted. I was recommended to Hannah by a friend and was not disappointed. I gave her a general idea of what I was looking for, and I let her go on her own and she delivered a cut that was better than i could imagine. She knows what looks good and has the skill to make it happen. It's been about 4 weeks since she did my hair and it is still looking great! I'll definitely be a returning customer more

Ok, I may slightly be biased, but Jamie is seriously the bees knees. I mean, I would drive to across state lines for her to do my hair... Oh wait I did! Jamie was my stylist in Scottsdale, but has subsequently moved to LA to spread her amazingness to the Cali residents.I can't help it.. I love my stylist. She always does my hair exactly as I want, with perfect colour, and in gets me in and out. Now for the salon.... Gillian Bissett Colour Salon was amazing as well. I was immediately greeted and offered coffee, which I gladly accepted during the crazy down pour! They had these really good little cookies too. I'm a sucker for cookies. They had these runway shows playing which kept me totally entertained. Everyone in the salon was so nice and friendly. All and all a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back.! I will say the only down side was the parking was a little strange, and hard to find. I ended up going into the garage which was nice since it was raining so hard. Otherwise, perfect experience! Long story short, go see Terra for cut and color. After seeing her my hair looks the best is has in 7 years. And the long story: I Moved to L.A 7 years ago, and slowly my long beautiful natural looking ashy blonde hair (which was full of dimension), started looking like it was all one color, dry, over processed and started breaking off about 4 inched from my scalp. I'm an x model who used to make great money and was willing to spend whatever it took to keep my beautiful hair beautiful. From the start I was going to places like Frederick Fekkai, Louise Lacari, David Paul (that salon was the major reason my hair started breaking off- never go there! I saw the owner (David) and he was horrible!) I was paying about 400 a pop for color only. I could not understand why It was so impossible to find a good colorist. Isn't it supposed to be that the more money you spend, the better quality hair care you get? Here's what I finally learned: In Toronto (and I'm sure quite a few other places around the world) The owners of high end salons spend their own money sending their stylists who work for them to all kinds of education seminars etc. If you look up hair salons in the Yorkville area in T.O you can read on their websites how seriously they take hair EDUCATION. You can pretty much walk into any high end salon there, and you're going to get incredible color. In L.A, on the other hand (I'm not sure if it's LA, CA, or the U.S in general) The system is quite different. Most high end salons RENT BOOTHS to random hair colorists. If you are a colorist, and you can afford to rent a booth at Fekkai for example- because daddy has money- you can work there. There is no training at all, and basically, no standards! By sheer luck I found Terra at Gillian Bissett. She is the first person I have ever spoken to in this city who understands color. She has been trained vigorously and is extremely educated in color. Excellent cuts too. And the second best part? Inexpensive, no attitude, and she has a very gentle touch- I can't stand having my hair combed through, and I didn't even notice her doing it! (Mens Cuts) I've been getting my hair cut by Hannah for a while now, she is the first stylist who consistently gives me a great cut! Even when I went from a longer to a shorter hair style she was able to give me a great style each and every time. She knows exactly what I want when I describe it to her... she GETS it! There were times when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my hair and she gave me great suggestions and had knew exactly what would work for me, its like a super power she has. Bottom line, she is great at what she does. Highly recommended! p.s. The salon is nice too... love the cold eucalyptus infused towelettes! more

I have been getting my hair done by hannah for years now, and she has never let me down. She has such a creative and artistic eye, and I always leave feeling beautiful and confident whether I have a funky pixie cut, or something classic and elegant. She has managed to keep up with my constantly changing look, and has taken me from deep vibrant brunettes, to the whitest of blonde, without ever damaging my hair. This girl definitely knows her stuff! Pros: Diversity! more

I went to see Dulce. She had very good reviews on city search and seemed confident. I went in for highlights. She suggested adding low lights so she did a combo low light /high light. My hair ended up much darker than I wanted and very drab. I went back to see if she could make it better and she did some more highlights. My hair color still looked very dull and drab. The ends of my hair have a bluish ashy tint to them in some spots. The lighting is soooo bad in the salon that you really do not know what your hair looks like until you get into your car. To make matters worse, my hair looks like it was highlighted a month or two prior as my roots were still showing after it was highlighted. They charged me for a full head of highlights but that is not what I got. You shouldn't have an half of inch to an inch of regrowth when you change the part of your hair. Especially after spending $260 (hair color, cut, and tip). On the up side, Dulce did do one of the better hair cuts that I have had and she did a great job on the blow-dry.
