This bar is perfect for grabbing drinks before watching a show (The Pantages is next door) or if you just want to chill with friend and throw back a few. They have an awesome jukebox with a great selection. You won't be disappointed. more

Old School and Awesome 5/10/2011

Simply put, this is the coolest bar in Hollywood, precisely because it has gone largely unchanged since it re-opened after prohinbition in 1934. It's small, cramped, grimy, dimly lit and affordable - everything almost every other establishment in Hollywood tries to avoid. The classic style (night bartenders still wear vests and bowties) and local-corner-tavern-vibe make this old school establishment one of LA's proudest watering holes. more

Cool spot....enjoyed it 12/15/2006

Dope lil spot and the drinks were right on. The area is small and chill. I went during off hours and it wasn't packed. Great for bar hoping. Pros: wasn't crowded Cons: couldn't find any... more

Great Hollywood Haunt 9/11/2006

My favorite bar in Hollywood. Friendly bartenders, terrific jukebox, and great crowd. It's a great alternative to the trendy clubs in Hollywood. If you want to meet someone, it's easy to do there. Also, if you're looking to just drink and be left alone, that's pretty easy too! Drinks are reasonably priced to boot! Pros: Great crowd, fun people watching, best jukebox in town. Cons: Tough to find a parking spot at times. more

best beer slinger 8/18/2005

I was Frolicing at the Frolic room Monday night the crowd started small but then more people came in- a mixed croud if you will. Joel the man behind the bar was quick to remember our rounds simply signal the man and it was there. Friendly people, dont be shy strike up a conversation with an out of towner and who knows maybe you'll get luck ;) you can catch me there again when im back in town. Went there on a Saturday night...eclectic group of people, but no pretense...what a relief! The drinks are inexpensive and the place is really small but fun. It's really easy to meet people here and have interesting conversations. more

Oh, you can Frolic 6/5/2002

Just go here with a bunch of friends if you want to have fun. You can run the jukebox, have some great drinks that are under $10 each and just be yourself. The crowd ranges from theater patrons to dentally challenged regulars who could quite possibly be the nicest people I've ever met. If you don't mind the initial smell, you'll love it. more

Great Mix of People 6/2/2002

Things have really picked up at the Frolic Room ever since the Lion King's first mighty roar was heard at the next door Pantages. Crowds pop in before and after the show for drinks and adventure. Sometimes the mix of people is unreal. Professional drunks mingling with dressed up folks who only get out of the house once a year for a special occasion (i.e. big budget Disney theater production). more

If you are looking for a place to hang without all the snotty L.A. types looking you up and down this is the place. Get a drink, hang with your friends and chat. Can get pretty busy on the weekend nights but you won't have to deal with the ""Are you cool enough?"" bouncer at the door. That Rocks. more

Talking to Strangers? 5/12/2002

Have to admit the number of times I've actually had a good time in a bar are very few and far between, but some of the evenings I spent here will stay with me as fond memories for many years to come. There's a friendliness to this place that you don't find very often anywhere, much less in a bar. It's divey but not at all scarey, hip but not alienating. Pros: Atmosphere more
