Beware the double trouble tree!! 6/26/2008

great central location- close to everything including the T. the problems started upon check-in. We booked a smoking room and didnt get it. I am reasonable and understand that checking in at a later hour may not guarantee me the room I wanted- fine. but my friend and I were placed in a room on the first floor with a view of some sort of scaffolding. the window was broken (almost fell on my head), the tv cabinet would not open (we had to put a scarf through the handle to pull it open) and the toilet overflowed at 1am. upon several attempts to plunge the toilet by a man who told us ""this happens often"" we were told by front desk to ""use the lobby bathroom"" until the next morning. Unacceptable to pay for a room and have to use the lobby bathroom like we were in a college dorm. we demanded to be moved and were moved that very night (after 1am) to a much better room which made us wonder they would stick us in an obviously defective 1st floor room when a better one was available. for our troubles we got a breakfast coupon each. would not stay here ever again. Pros: great location Cons: everything else more

A great hotel to stay at if 4/7/2003

you are looking for good location and savings. This hotel is located in the theatre district and on the edge of Chinatown. Across the street from the hospital, it is not in a bad area of town, as previously reviewed. There is a T-stop literally right outside the door of the hotel. The hotel is on the Orange line of the T and only two stops away from Downtown Crossing where you can pick up the Red Line. The staff was helpful and friendly, however, get your questions answered before the night audit shift comes on at 11pm. They aren't too knowledgeable or helpful. Overall this is a great hotel for the price paid. (Except for the parking rates, they are steep but on pace with the remainder of the city). Pros: Location, Nice, clean rooms more

Cheap, But You'll Pay For it! 12/10/2002

If you are looking for cheap in Boston, this is the place. Be sure to avoid the front desk (night especially) and absolutely avoid the bar. Their bartenders are rude beyond belief and seem to favor exchanging free drink favors with friends over actually serving paying customers. This hotel is right on the edge of a not-so-nice part of town. Step right when exiting the hotel lands you in scaryville. Ask for a room NOT on the lot because the noise from the theatre letting out or from arguing hobos inhabiting the lot can wake you in the middle of the night. Parking is stiff and lot attendants can be brusque. Pros: Cheap, Close to T-Stop Cons: Horribly rude staff, Shaky location, Traffic/Lot noise more
