Best

i reserved a table 4 my bday, paid 4 wrist bands to drink all night n when I arrived they did not want to give me my table and the wrist bands for my people all they did was take ...

Worst

A must for every suburbanite in the Chicagoland area! While the place in its hayday was an awesome site. Today it seems to focus more on looking impressive than being impressive. ...

A must-see Party Stop! 10/7/2005

Crobar is by far one of the best clubs to visit ever! Be sure to get there before 11PM to by-pass the $20 cover, or you can call ahead to asked to be put on the guest list for free admission. The music is house, trance, techno-infused with hip hop and old school rock. If you like to DANCE in any way shape or form - this is the place. The performances of the dancers on platforms were AMAZING and something to be appreciated...PARTY AT CROBAR! Pros: beautiful atomosphere, inexpensive drinks, great music more

not fun!!! 5/24/2005

We went on a Saturday. Frist, they couldn't find my name on the guestlist, so we stood there a while before we were asked if we wanted to come in , of course paid $20 each. we were so ready to leave at that point. The inside was not even crowded. My friend and I looked hot, so we felt stupid that they made us stand outside that night in the rain. They played the type of music we likeed, but the DJ kept stopping and we had to stop dancing every 5 minutes. The intervals were too often and too long. terrible! Pros: music Cons: line, cover charge, smoke more

The only true super-dance club in Chicago 4/10/2005

If you like BIG SOUND, LIGHTS and Dance floor Crobar is the only place in the city to go. more

Not for everyone.... 1/21/2004

It was my first time there a few weeks ago. Cover charge is quite pricey at $20. Coat check I believe was $4. It looked pretty good in there. Not my kinda music, but still ok. The service is great.....very friendly! If you go, be prepared to spend $$$$. I think there are better clubs out there. Pros: Friendly service Cons: Pricey, Parking more

Mr. 11/25/2003

this place is borring, nothing exiting, way to expensive and no place to park - a tip for you - do something for the customer, don't ask to pay for everything !!!!! Cons: very expensive, bad parking, not interesting more

This place rocks! 11/3/2003

They've done an awesome job at revamping this place! The energy in this place is also out of control! I've been to clubs in NY like this and I will definitely be back very soon! It is trendy, so if you're not into the "scene" probably best you look elsewhere. more

Best Underground Electronica 2/27/2003

Hip-Hop/Rap lovers stay out...Crobar is loud, loud, loud...you can get a "culture shock" for the first-timers. For the reviewers who did not like crobar, I quess your not a big fan of urban-electronica music(progressive-house), the loud-dark ambiance when you walk in...or for your other people who generalize the club music, as "techno...raver music" You can say that it does have that type of crowd...but besides the people..its the MUSIC, AMBIANCE...you go to Crobar for(NOT FOR SOCIALIZING), IF YOU LIKE TO DANCE NON-STOP TIL DAWN. Crobar has been the areas "underground" club-goers friend... I have been going to crobar since the early 90's, and it is still the best club for that "underground" feel-ambiance. (DANCING ONLY) Pros: MUSIC-AMBIANCE, A-LIST DJS, FREE ENTRY-GUEST LIST Cons: PARKING SUX more

Needs to get over itself 2/4/2003

A must for every suburbanite in the Chicagoland area! While the place in its hayday was an awesome site. Today it seems to focus more on looking impressive than being impressive. With an outrageous cover and drink prices that seem to very bartender to bartender you better make sure you just got paid before you walk up to the door. The best part of Crobar is the space and the music if you can stand everything else you'll have a great time. Pros: Atmosphere, Music Cons: Expensive, Attitudes more

CANI-Constant & Neverending Improvement 1/29/2003

Overall, Crobar is very well put together. The people are free to enjoy themselves, the music is out of this world (Just Love It), the drinks are too expensive which is a deciding factor in the frequency of visits, however, it's still a great place to hang out at. more

overrated 1/22/2003

this club overrall is cool , but it lacks value for how much u willl spend goin there. The line getting in can be a hassle and long. try getting on the list or getting there early. Still doing either may not get u in promptly. once inside its easy to see why thers a buzz about crowbar. trendy dancing and somewhat of a cool layout. Nothing thats blows u away from a sceneery standpoint but still cool. DJ's are good if all u want to hear is power tech dance. Can get crowded. The woman are above average for downtown clubs. Dont expect to hook up though =) bring your A game players. Will be fun until u realize how much u spent the next morning. . Thers bang at crowbar , but it lacks those perks u get elsewhere. I prefer other clubs with similiar style. Pros: peeps, classy techno dance Cons: value, service more

Deserves it 12/26/2002

This bar has managed to last and last, despite any changes in music or trends or whatever. It's a pretty good place- funky music, cool crowd. Pros: a legend! Cons: none more

Crobar Forever 11/29/2002

Crobar will always be my favorite bar in this great city. The memories I have from Crobar are some of the best memories of my life. Music is great. People are fun. Always something new. If you've never been there go at least once. If you've been there before GO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Fu*k#@g Awesome!!!!!! 11/29/2002

I LOVE Crobar. Best bar in the City of Chicago. Awesome Music. Great People. Fun atmosphere. THANK GOD FOR CROBAR more

Club gets an 8, Djs get a 10 11/24/2002

My first experience at the Crobar was the Sven Vath/ Richie Hatwin event put on by Pure. The club has a LOT of atmosphere, it is very dark, almost cavernous like some kind of industrial space. It reminded me of an old-school warehouse party, though of course with two fully-stocked bars. Basically, if you enjoyed going to raves ever you will probably dig this space. The only drawbacks are that the dancefloor was over-crowded and that the sound system was not quite as bassy as others in Chicago. Needless to say, Sven and Richie were slamming and to those who GET IT these kinds of events are worth every penny. PURE just simply brings in the best talent, and if you actually know anything about dance music/club culture beyond "hey man this place has hot chicks with big hair" then I'm sure you'll just love Crobar. Pros: DJ Talent, Cool Space, Informed Patrons Cons: Crowded, Small Dancefloor, Too loud? more

CRO BUMS 11/8/2002

NOT MUCH TO SAY BUT THIS CLUB IS HISTORY. JUST NOT HIP ENOUGH. MUSIC IS STILL PUMPIN BUT THIS JOINT IS DUMPIN. OUTTA Cons: NOT CHEAP more

Gay night interesting 10/23/2002

Okay so i went there on gay night, Boy was i surprised. I didnt know it was gay night untill i walked in. Everyone was nice even though you were like the only straight guy in the joint. But there weren't a lot of girls there so i didnt stay too long. more

Pretty Good!! 10/4/2002

Friday at Crobar pretty much sux (really bad crowd mostly), but Saturday and Sunday ROCKS!!! If I wanna dance till I drop, I would go to Crobar on Sunday, where I can dance all night without being hit on. The drinks there are a lil week, I always suggest people to drink before hand, if they were to drink. oh, and GREAT staff!! They're all really nice people! :D more

CROBAR IS A MUST SEE!! 9/1/2002

I prefer saturdays, I love hearing Dj Psyhco B.... and Teri Bristol rip it up.. music is great!!. the people are lively, the light show is phenomenal. You can feel the great club vibe off of everyone in the room. It is pricey, but if youre smart, you'll look up the website. www.crobarnightclub.com I am pretty picky when it comes to music, but if you love trance/house/progressive, electronica.. you need to come here! If you dont like crowds, go elsewhere. Pros: Dj's, Spacious Cons: Sometimes crowded, no ladies discount more

Uh uh!!!!! 8/21/2002

Costs WAY TOO MUCH! The music was mediocre, and the people wanted to APPEAR like 'cool club kids', but they just looked like a bunch of friggin' idiots to me. If you want to hear GOOD house music at half the cost, check out Red Dog's instead. Pros: Lots of space Cons: Too pricey, Too many lames, Mean bouncers more

Love it 8/12/2002

Crobar is one of the best place to go in town on friday or saturday noghts. Cost is reasonable if you check the website ahead and get on the vip list or know when the reduced hours are. Also if you freguent it enough you learn of the deals. The staff is awesome, some of the best people in town and they know how to make a drink. Not to mention the most diverse people that are in town. Pros: Diverse Crowd, Great Music Cons: Cover can be High more

  • The futuristic, Star Trek exterior hasn't deterred the masses from kicking back here since the early 90s. The club continues to be an epicenter of late-night hedonism with a heavy emphasis on dancing. This intimate yet spacious bar offers themed parties four days a week, catering to the top-40 crowd as well as the techno heads. Variety here is doled out like candy, with hip-hop, mash up, mainstream and house rotating for the benefit of a diverse constituent of patrons. Long, low tables seat 15-20.
