Great food! 7/1/2008

I'm not a vegeterian, but I love Cosmic Cafe. The food is great. You definately have to be adventurious, but its totally worth it. I'm a Starbucks fan by far, but Cosmic Cafe's chai tea is WAY better. Try the pizza! Parking can be difficult and the sun can get you hard if you are there at a certain time, but this place is a definate must! Pros: Food Cons: Parking more

Awesome Find in Dallas 6/28/2008

What an unexpected and wonderful experience in Dallas. I found it on the internet and at there 2 out of 4 days while visiting Dallas. Many choices of very well-prepared food. Friendly staff. Excellent ""vibes"" in both the restaurant and meditation space. I'll go back there everytime I come to Dallas. more

Cosmic Cafe yoga is back! 2/29/2008

Just an addition to an earlier positive review I posted - for the many people who miss the free yoga at the cosmic, they have a temporary home - cosmic's teachers are using the Chi yoga studio in fair park, with many of the same classes, hours and teachers. Chi is even honoring the ""$5 donation"" pricing. This is wonderful news for you cosmic yoga fans and I have to hand it to chi for letting our favorite teachers stay with the ""free"" pricing of cosmic cafe. Yoga in dallas really is a ""community""! They are on fletcher street, near the main fair park entrance. Pros: the pizza rocks! One of the few places in dallas a liberal hippie-type can feel at home Cons: Can be tough to park... oak lawn, y'know... more

Cozy warm place, but currently closed. 2/16/2008

This was one of my favorite places. I would order the Buddha's Delight. After a long drive from Plano after work through the cold weather, it was a warm, cozy environment in which I could warm up with the dahl and the green tea.\r \r Upstairs were a lot of empty rooms where people had meetings and meditated. This is not so much an Indian restaurant, but an Indian-themed American restaurant. Which is all fine by me.\r \r I went yesterday, and found it sectioned off by ""fire do not cross"" tape. I wonder when they will open again. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, great service, self-serve green tea Cons: currently closed due to fire more

Definitely not for Desi (Unless you want to read OSHO books) 12/20/2006

The first look at this place, we Felt it was WOW!! the whole place has a Indian setting to it. I liked the water fountain they had in front of the restaurant a small elephant with a umberalla on it and the water overflowing overit :) . That's it!! One look at the Menu we felt we are at the wrong place, though its of a Indian setting the whole menu is customized to American style. So if you are a Indian don't expect any spicy or tasty food here. the whole setting is really good, I liked the outdoor setting of this place and there are lots of OSHO books, so if you like to read them good place to visit. The Service is good and they are courteous no compalins there, Jus' that the food tastes horrible...... Pros: outdoor setting, Service Cons: short of parking space more

Nan pizzas are the best. Wine is cheap. Service is excellent. 11/4/2006

Skip the bland hummus and head straight for the truly unique (at least to me) stuff on the menu. The waitstaff is nice and accomodating. The wine, though nothing to write home about, is only $4 per glass. The place just looks cool from the outside; and it is not surprisingly really cool on the inside too. Pros: Healthy, delicious, inexpensive. Good place to try when you are tired of the chains. Cons: No meat. If you are into that sort of thing. more

delicious with a great atmosphere 7/16/2006

I have to say, I don't like Dallas. But, it is nice to feel like I'm not in Texas even if it is just for a meal! Great food, excellent feel. I enjoyed my experience and if I have to go back to Texas I will try to make it to the Cosmic Cafe everytime. Pros: Great food! Cons: a little more expensive than I expected more

Great place 7/14/2006

This is not your typical Dallas restaurant, but that is what makes it so awesome! The food is very good, I'm not Vegan, but I found Buddha's delight to be enjoyable. The chai is off the charts and I can't wait to go back for more. Pros: Great food; love the atmosphere Cons: parking? more

Great vegetarian restaurant 6/15/2006

The Cosmic Cafe is a nice vegetarian restaurant that is well suited to the Oak Lawn area. People there don't care who you are or where you're from, mainly because it's right next to Dallas' official gay area. The atmostphere is decorated with books and various unique middle-eastern artwork. The place has an open and free atmosphere that overflows with welcoming energy. The only drawback to the place is the location is a little small, and parking is virtually nonexistant. Frankly, if you can take a bus to get there by all means do.\r \r People looking for a TGI Friday's plain white-bread atmosphere should look elsewhere, as they might get weirded out by the unique mediterranean dishes. They have great Indian dishes, including a falafel made from garbonzo beans that tastes a lot like beef. Great mango smoothies, and vegan desserts finish up an excellent meal. Pros: Great vegetarian food, nice atmosphere Cons: very small parking lot more

A bit of Hawthorne Ave (Portland) in Dallas 10/26/2005

Expats from the Pearl and especially the Hawthorne District of Portland (OR) will love this place-- it'll be just like home. Put away your visas to the Texas Republic here! Cosmic Cafe is Vegan Fusion with bits of Indian, Vegan-Mex, Middle-eastern, etc. GO FOR THE CHAI! The best I've had at any restaurant-- the soy chai is absolutely perfect--honey to taste and yum!. The only better I've had is in India-- the Mothership itself. MAIN MENU--Looks Good, but not too flavorful. We had hummous, Buddha's Delight (vegetable curry), stir fry, and squash bisque. The curry was decent but too mild, the stir fry might have been great... and the squash bisque... well, my friend was quick to share. The surroundings, a restaurant in a craftsman styled house, lots of colorful murals, creative decor, and absolutely INCREDIBLE CHAI make it a place we'll return to, just to drink chai! Pros: Colorful decor, Outstanding Chai, Atmosphere+++ Cons: Blandish food more

Tofu made tasty! 5/10/2005

Great little spot for vegan food. I had the Cosmic stir (tofu and fresh vegtables with ginger served over rice ans salad. Seemed to be popular dish among the patrons. WE also had the humas plate served with nan. The chai/soy is delious. Food came out fast and service was promt and friendly. I am not a vegan but this was really good and I will be back. Pros: food Cons: parking more
