I called Dr. Cohn's office for a contact lenses exam. I was charged $444. Looking closely at the bill, this is what it includes: Eye exam: $187, Fungus Photo (instead of regular dilation) $39, Refraction $90, Contact Lenses Exam $113, 2 small muti-purpose solution (2 fl. oz) $15 which I thought were free samples. Total Fee: $444. The fee seems too high to me. So I did a little bit of research. Costco charges around $100, America's Best charges $79 plus $15 extra if you want the Visual Field Test. Dr. Cohn charge $187 for eye exam, Refraction of $90 which is usually included in the eye exam elsewhere. Then he charged a separate $113 for the contact lenses exam, which other doctors usually charged an additional $30.They tried to tell me that Dr. Cohn gives special care. This is a very standard procedure and every Optometrist goes through the same training. Basically you get the same service. The only difference is the price you have to pay. more

Caring, Thorough Exams 1/6/2012

I have had glasses for 40 years. I have been seeing Dr. Cohn for the last 16 and he is the most attentive optometrist I have ever been to. I stopped seeing him for a while when I developed an eye problem that required an ophthalmologist but I have returned to Dr. Cohn for all eye care except the specific treatment only the specialist can provide. I just wasn't satisfied with the care I was receiving from the ophthalmologist?s office with regard to my basic eye exams. One reviewer wrote that he couldn't ""just get a prescription"". That is simply not true. Dr. Cohn's office has a nice selection of eyewear so you don?t have to go elsewhere. But you can certainly take your prescription to other eyewear retailers. It is true that if you order glasses through Dr. Cohn?s office you can?t cancel that order (because they can?t cancel the order themselves). My husband also goes to Dr. Cohn for his eye care and we both recommend him highly. more

Great Doctor but BEWARE 6/23/2010

My first time getting my eyes evaluated and I walked out of there feeling screwed. Was borderline needing glasses - but told my eyes will just get worse without them. Also was told I needed to buy their overpriced glasses vs. just get a prescription - AND amongst all the regular doctor papers you sign - you apparently sign something that says you are not eligible for a refund, order change, or anything of the sort. I will never go back there again. Pros: Doctor can match glasses well to your needs. Cons: FORCED to buy glasses there, no refunds, bitchy staff more

I was very happy with my visit to Dr Cohn. He was very professional and friendly, as was the staff. I have referred a couple of people to him and they were pleased as well. With other eye doctors in the past, I have felt rushed or that my questions were not being answered - but this exam was very thorough. They even did this ""eye-scan"" (don't know what it is called) which shows a 360 degree view of the inside of your eye - way cool, and a nice alternative to having your eyes dialated. They also spent a lot of time helping me choose the right glasses. I will definitely go back to Dr Cohn! more

Progressively less pleasant visits 8/7/2005

V1: Not highly unusual - lack of explanation regarding charges incurred. V2: My glasses took 4-5 days longer to arrive. I was tended to by an optician impatient w/ my questions. Dr. was on vacation, unbeknownst to me, so an extra appt was made. V3: Most unpleasant. Arrived on time & no staff checked me in. While not typically alarming, it came back to haunt me... I was repeatedly told to wait ""just a few min."" for the next 50 min. (during my lunch hr)! After awhile, I asked if I should resched. for a time when Dr. could see me. Responding defensively, she (recept.) explained of an unexpected delay w/ another patient who had an appt during mine & according to their clock when I checked in, I arrived late! Regardless, I finally saw the doctor. If you're a VSP patient, I would only recommend this office for convenience. Pros: Convenient Location, VSP Provider, Family Practice Cons: Office Staff Attitude, Poor Customer Service, Appt length/wait time more
