This place is a little overrated. Dr. Yaeger is very knowledgable and great with children, no question. He listens to parents and answers questions diligently. He was ok with our doing a natural childbirth. (Other doctors at the same practice acted like this was both child abuse and suicide.) Here's the catch: My opinion is that these issues are a bare minimum. Our standards are way too low if we think this is a good review so far................
The super-nurse, Piper, is uniformly lauded as perhaps the greatest nurse in history, and I agree with that sentiment.......................
Here's the problem: The place is too popular, which means they have a monolithic bureaucracy set up to thwart parents from potentially getting information outside of office visits. For example, we moved to another city, and they won't give us our medical records. There is ONE person in charge of such issues, and no one is allowed to see or talk to her, sort of like the Wizard of Oz. You HAVE to leave her a voicemail, which she summarily discards. We've left a dozen voicemails over several weeks, and now we have to cancel our son's 18 month appointment. This isn't just an isolated example, either. E.g, I NEVER get a person when I call -- this is because they have an automatic screening phone system that forwards all calls to voicemail. The trick is to immediately call back, which causes the call to go through to a person because the automated system is busy. Hahahahaa what fun! To be fair, if it's a child health issue, they'll call back, but if you need records or having a billing or insurance question, you might as well shoot yourself right now to save yourself the trouble...............................
I think that the wait to see a doctor is a little longer here due to the practice's popularity, but a long-ish wait is pretty standard, so I don't consider that a huge deal.........................
So, yes, Dr. Yaeger was pretty good, but this practice is WAY too popular which means you have to go through a lot of crap in order to get medical care. There are a lot of pediatricians in Dallas that are knowledgeable and attentive. I think there's sort of a mob mentality right now to go to this practice, which is unfortunate for all involved. I guess except for the doctors, who are probably doing all right.............................
Oh, and parking is ample.
Pros: Dr. Yaeger, Nurse Piper
Cons: Bureaucracy
