I believe Jim Morgan is one of the best dog trainers in the city of Chicago. I have trained six dogs with him; one mutt, two labs and three standard poodles. Some of my dogs met Jim when they were puppies, others when they were older. Some of my dogs have been smart, and others, well, not so smart. We love them all and so did Jim and his staff.
Jim has helped me train each of my dogs regardless of whether or not I paid the fee for the two week intensive training. I think the ‘sleep-over’ is the best experience for the dog and the easiest for the owner because the dog learns all of the basic commands and also has the opportunity to live with a lot of other dogs and gain confidence. When I didn’t have the resources, Jim helped me as I attended his weekly classes, on either Wednesday nights or Saturday mornings. It’s not about the money for Jim, but rather helping each dog have a big, fun life.
Thanks to Jim and some time and work on my part, my dogs can go anywhere and do anything because they have manners and are obedient. When I say ‘manners’ I mean they follow the rules; they sit quietly, they lie down and stay where I put them and they come to me when I call them. They follow the rules no matter how many squirrels or other dogs are around.
Jim and his staff have fun with the dogs and build their confidence while training. The training is simple and clear; when the dog is learning, everything he does correctly is met with a positive response. If the dog is trying and makes a mistake, there is a simple redirection. If the dog knows how to do something and doesn’t do it, the correction given is more direct and helps the dog understand what we want him to do. In the twelve years I have trained with Jim, I have never seen him be unfair or angry with a dog.
