Fun way to pass some time! 6/3/2006

Whenever I have guests in from out of town, I enjoy taking them over to the Château Ste Michelle Winery in Woodinville. It's located on a beautiful piece of property with lovely buildings and roaming peacocks. Take a tour of the winery to learn a little about the place, and then make a stop at the bar for a tasting. Be sure to ask if they have any wines available to taste that are only sold there at their retail shop. They have a lovely collection of items for sale, so save some time peruse those. Pick up a little snack in the shop, get a bottle of wine and picnic on the grounds after your tour and tasting. What a way to spend an afternoon! more

Wonderful Place for an Afternoon Stroll & Great Wine Too! 3/27/2006

Chateau St. Michelle has a beautiful facility in Woodinville. Although the grapes are grown elsewhere in Washington, there is a token vineyard on the grounds, along with wandering peacocks & a flock of ducks & geese. The setting is beautiful, making it a wodnerful place to stroll on a nice afternoon. Wine tasting is free so it's a great outing to do on a date. If you've got kids with you, that's alright, because they're quick to poor some grape juice for the little ones. The tour is fun, and it certainly is the local winery most like something you'd fine in Napa. more

Wine and a Concert 9/24/2005

This is one of my favoite concert spots. This venue holds outdoor summer concerts. Plan ahead, pack a picinic, get there early and buy a couple of bottles of St. Michelle wine to go with your picnic and you are set! Here is a list of what you may want to bring for your concert expeience at St. Michelle. picinic folding chairs, you just have to make sure they are the kind that sit low to the ground. blankets flashlight and friends, the more the merrier! In an outdoor concert it is lots of fun to meet-up with friends and hang-out toghether. more

nice tour, good wine 8/19/2005

This winery is my favorite of the big wineries in Woodinville. The grounds are beautiful, the tour is pretty fun and has a free tasting at the end, and there is a really nice wine/gift shop. You can also have a tasting in the shop for a small fee; I think it was $5 for four pours. The shop has picnic type foods in it as well as a great selection of wine, and so you can also have a picnic right on the grounds. Sometimes they have concerts there as well. It's definitely a good place to take guests or to visit if you are a guest in Seattle. more

Bold, yet Fruity 8/18/2005

For those wishing to live out the Falcon Crest fantasy, this is your place. No Jane Wyman, but the grounds are impeccable and the building is beautiful. This is a great place to take out of town guests, a unique Washington experience. Plus, if your company is getting on your nerves, you get to drink! Private wine tasting is worth the modest expense and translates well to even the most junior wine novice. I can hear that theme music now. more

Local Wine Tour 7/18/2005

I not really a wine expert or anything, but one weekend I wanted to plan something unique and fun for my girlfriend and I to do. I decided to take her out to nearby Woodinville and go on a wine tasting. As I searched through the Internet trying to find a good place to go, I stumbled upon Chateau Ste Michelle and discovered that they offer a winery tour each day at 10:30 and 4:30. The tour lasts about 40 minutes and you get to see how they make the wine and store it. Pretty fascinating stuff. At the end of the tour you have the opportunity to taste some different wines. Good fun experience that is semi-romantic and free! more

Great Wine, Nice Winery 6/12/2005

The setting for St Michelle is gorgeous. They are well known for their great wines and I recommend making a visit if you havent before. You can do a tasting and explore the area. The Columbia Winery is a stones throw as well which is also a great place to do a tasting. In the summer St Michelle has outdoor concerts in a large field on the side of their lot. I have gone to a few and they are pretty amazing. You just bring a blanket and some wine glasses! I highly recommend a vistit! more
