The Cottage Lake Pool is a local, public swimming pool. Now, it's not the most fancy, and it is outdoors, but in the summer time, King County offers swim lessons here, and I've been pretty pleased with the lessons. Sometimes the groups can be large, and certainly over the last 10 years, it doesn't seem to be as busy as it used to be. It's harder for your kid to learn in a larger group, but I think it's the daily lesson that really makes the difference. The constant exposure to the water really helps out.

Kids love this place. The games, the excitement and the tickets! Got to admit, even for adults, some of those immediate pay off games can really suck you in as you find yourself dropping quarter after quarter in. The laser tag is also fun for the kids, but these extras are expensive. If you've got yourself an Entertainment Book, be sure and use the coupon for the arcade games because you will get at least double your money for one visit!

I can't put my finger on it, but I've been to this place maybe twice now, and I just don't care for it. The sushi seems institutional--sort of like the kind you get at the grocery store. It's bland with not much variety and overall just strikes me as way too institutional. Not worth the price. The idea of the buffet is good, so if you're looking for that, try Todai in Redmond. Not much to hoot and holler about here.

Well, when you're in need of party supplies, this place has the stuff! They have a good selection of disposable dinner ware, decorations, balloons, etc. I liked the place that was here before, Party Universe, as the name implies, I think they had more selection back then. Anyhow, the place is still good for what you need. Pricing is ok. If you need a balloon bouquet during one of the popular balloon bouquet holidays, be sure to pre-order or they won't help you out.

Turning Pointe has some good facilities for a dance studio. (There can be much worse!). The place is clean and there is some seating for parents. The teachers are professional and good with the kids. Good variety of classes and competition teams. The worse part of the studio, when my daughter was there, was the end of year recital in Everett. This is a difficult location to get to, particularly with dress rehearsal being held during the worst traffic rush hours. Definitely a big headache and contributed to our finding another dance studio despite the good teachers.

Great variety in performances and some good high quality productions. Love the children's performances, which my kids often attend on field trips. A little more difficult to get to because of the downtown location, as well as a little on the expensive side. But nonetheless, a lot of fun. A worthwhile adventure on a rainy day. Parking is also pay, so you're aware.

Definitely shadowed in size by today's superstores, but sometimes you just can't beat the good, old fashioned customer service angle. The staff is extremely helpful and goes out of their way to help you. The inventory is a little lacking however, but at times, they carry items that the bigger stores don't have. If you need some extra help with things, this is the store for you. Some staff works outside as contractors and can often help you with installs.

My son went to a birthday party here and had a great time. Definitely a unique idea, and a great indoor birthday party place, which there can't be enough of around here. Would definitely host a party here ourselves, as all the kids seemed wildly amused. A little on the expensive side, but probably worth it for the unique experience.

If you're a dim sum conniseur, try Noble Court. I can't seem to find anything better in the area, so if you know of one, please let me know! The variety is good and the overall food quality is pretty good. It doesn't even compare to the dim sum that you can get in Vancouver, B.C., but it beats anyplace downtown for sure (and feels a lot safer too!). Best to come after 11:00 am for best variety in selection.

This is the best rural pumpkin patch to visit. Old fashioned--get your wheelbarrow and head out to the patch to pick your favorites. They have a ton of pumpkins and the patch is huge. You can get some great pictures here. They also pop fresh Kettle Corn, so it becomes a holiday tradition. A corn maze is here for your pleasure also. I like this patch because it's not as commercial as "The Farm" or Remlinger. It's got a great feel to it. Has the pumpkins and hot popcorn--what more could you want?
