I called several places around this area and found Charlie's Hair. Elizabeth answered the phone so I booked an appointment with her. I did not know exactly what kind of highlights I wanted nor what kind of cut, so I relied on her expertise. I was afraid of how my hair was going to come out. She was very pleasant and fast. She gave me a really nice haircut and super nice highlights. The highlights seemed as though they were part of my natural hair color. The next day, I saw several friends who complemented my new look but they could not tell what it was I changed. I told them I had highlights and a haircut. They all wanted the name of the Salon and hairstylist (Elizabeth). My sister, who has the same curly hair and length, plans to call Elizabeth. The only drawback was that the price for the cut was not $46 (like other reviews) but $55 and the highlight charge was $10 higher in person than what I was quoted on the phone. I was a previous customer of Lanos, the place that used to be there but when i walked in, it was completely different. But i figured what the heck, I'm already here, may as well give it a try. I was directed to Elizabeth, who to me is a little ""off"". She has way too much going on for me to deal with and she was very distracted. i went in for some highlight (burgundy) and I had virgin hair so the color should have taken very well. Not so much the case when she did it. she messed up the first time and then had to make me stay while she tried to fix it. I was getting so nervous the more she touched my hair but I didnt want to leave with it the way it was. once she put more bleach and more color and washed it all out and sat me at her chair again, i looked at my hair and it was ORANGE! i looked like i had put peroxide on my hair! it was horrible. the whole time i was there, she made me feel bad for wanting my hair right and made me feel very out of place. i didnt even let her dry the rest of my hair as I had already been there almost 3 hours! i just got up, paid the 150 bucks and cried when i got home! then my boyfriend convinced me to call them and have someone else fix her goof and so i did. i called, spoke to charlie and he told me to come in so he could fix it. i went in and he took no more then 40 minutes to cut, color and dry my crazy thick hair and i walked out feeling amazing! His brother Eddie finished drying my hair and I loved it! Both Charlie and Eddie are amazing. If you go here, just make sure to ask for either one of them. They will make you feel gorgeous!! I went there yesterday and am so annoyed I hadn't been going there all these years. It was fantastic! By far the best cut I've ever had. I had Lindsey, who is new, and I thought she was doing a great job. By the time she was done cutting, my hair was beginning to dry and I could see how well it fell into place. Already I thought it was the best cut ever. But then Charlie finished up his customer and came over to see her work. They began going back over it, before and after blowdrying, to account for my natural waves and cowlicks and how I might wear my hair up. I'd never had a salon experience like this. I usually hate it and so don't get my hair cut as often as it should be.\r \r They specialize in long hair and a woman's cut is $42. more

I'm now living in AZ, and cant find a comparable stylist! I use to have my hair cut by Charlie at Charlie's Hair Productions. While in college, my On-Camera Tv-Instructor, designated a day for us to go to this salon. That says a lot when the head UH Media Instructor recommends this over the many other Houston salons. After a while, i decided to give Charlie's a try and went to him religiously. I always got EXACTLY what i asked for and never felt pressured, and left feeling like a million bucks! So happy, I honestly didn't have to adjust my newly styled hair do. That says a lot when you're THAT satisfied. The salon is always clean and has an upbeat vibe. Great products too! I moved to Austin and never found anyone comparable. Now i'm in Arizona and have given up till I return to Tx. When i visit for the holidays I'll be scheduling my appt. with Charlie WITHOUT A DOUBT!! more

Charlie convinced me to gradually go all natural with my grey- or what he called platinum so we cut it short and he blended in neutral shades of blonde- he managed to keep my demarcation at a minimum- and after a few months Charlie had weaned me off my need to cover my grey- My color has never looked better and I never have to worry about roots again! This method is so low maintenance and such an affordable way to handle grey in an appealing way. I have never seen a hairdresser that actually saved me money on my hair! Charlie saw potential in my natural color that I never wanted to accept before and it has never looked better. I get compliments on my hair all the time! I was never loyal to any stylist until going to Eddie. I even have my husband and mom going to him now and they love him too. He's not a typical styist. He doesn't want to do crazy styles or colors- just what looks good on you, and has never been pushy with products. He's great at correcting bad cuts, too. I love it when he shows pictures from the most recent trip he's gone on (Costa Rica was beautiful). The salon is simple (wood floors, tasteful decorations) but very comfortable. Even though it's in ""River Oaks,"" you won't find the typical snooty atmosphere- all of them are just really nice and the prices are more than reasonable. I think my last cut was $42 w/out tip, but I always tip more than avg. just because he's worth it! Absolutely a must for anyone. Pros: fabulous cuts, very friendly Cons: Eddie books up fast! more

I've been going to Charlie's for the past couple of years and absolutely have no reason to ever go anywhere else! I'm terrible about keeping up with my cuts, but I always look forward to setting my appointment with Eddie. He's really sweet and very knowledgeable about hair. When I got my bridal portraits done, I went to Charlie's for an up-do. Charlie himself was my stylist and he did a remarkable job putting my thin hair into a beautiful twist. Charlie did just what I asked and made my updo look fluffy, elegant and natural...not slicked down to my head and coated with hairspray. My bridal portratis turned out beautiful and I am looking forward to having Charlie do the updo's for me and my bridal party next month! I would HIGHLY recommend Charlie's for updos! I've been looking for someone that can cut guy's hair for a reasonable price and do a good job for over a year. I've been to Toni & Guy, ULTA, and other high price places and they don't even compare to Eddie. Not only can he cut guy's hair, he's cool and tells you what he's doing throughout the cut. Got one of the best hair cuts of my life today at Charlie's Hair Productions from Eddie. He was easy going and very nice. It was fast but not too fast. He spent good solid time working with my hair. It looked great when I left, and I didn't feel like crying once. He even explained everything he was doing at every single step to set my mind at ease. I started thinking about how I would save my haircuts for when I come back to town to visit my family after I move away from Houston. They also accept walk-ins and used a white cover so that I could actually see what my dark hair looked like before I left. Woo hoo!!! Pros: affordable, nice folks, free parking more

I decided to try Charlie's based on the reviews I read on Citysearch, and it was definitely the best thing I've done for myself in a long time! It's been a difficult process trying to find a new hair stylist and I found Brett at Charlie's. Brett is new at Charlie's (and new to Houston) and he's great! I couldn't be any happier! I went to Charlies based soley on reviewer 2's comments. I also have curly/frizzy hair and I requested Eddie. Best decision Ive made in a long time! He knew exactly what I wanted to have done without me asking and was extremely knowledgeable about curly hair and its maintenance. My first visit has convinced me not to even attempt to go anywhere else. Two Thumbs Up!!!!!! more
