Outrageous Billing 7/28/2010

We received two bills this month for the same billing period, the first $37.60 the other $519.21! Our average bill is about $50 per month for the two years living at this address. The service rep said bill (1) the lower amount was based on estimated usage, bill (2) was actual usage when they read the meter and we have no leak. As near as we can tell they have not checked our meter since we moved in and every bill received for two years has been based on estimated usage. Of course no were on the bill does it say it's an estimate this is what the rep told us. So apparently they can bill you for any amount they feel like without any basis in actual usage. Pros: You must be joking Cons: Unprofessional, gangster mentality more

Carolina water fraud personified 12/6/2009

This is the only company I know that in the worst economic year since WW II gave it's self rate increase rates of 15% and 25%. It's base gallon consumption is so fraudulant I'm amzed they haven't been investigated. Even when being away on vacation for 2 weeks in one month they still said my average water consumption was 44 gallons per day. I"ve taken drastic measures of doing laundry 1x week, dishwasher 1x week, 2 minute shower small stream 1x day and flushing just 2x day and yet they are forever inflating consumption of water. Their sewage price is so ridiculous they should be flushing the system every day and yet they let it build up so in the summer the whole neighborhood stinks. There are not words to describe how bad this company is. I wrote to the NC govenor to have them investigated but she just wrote this ridiculously pious indifferent response back. I think we need to continue to write to our senators about this fraud of a company because every moment of every day they are blantantly lying and stealing from all of us. Pros: None Cons: Lies about consumption and inflates prices more

i am moving into a development where you have to get Carolina Water. So I pay the 100.00 to turn it on and then We get a letter saying I am going to be anexed into charlotte city limits by the end of the year. Now we should get a break on that.... Its just terrible that they step on the little people. Cons: have to choose them more

Base rate and water usage? 4/30/2009

Ok, has anyone besides me looked at last months CWS bill? Did you notice that they are charging a $20 base rate and that water usage is now added on to that? When I moved here in 2005, my bill was $20/month. Now it's $53.00!!! Is there anyway to protest or escalate this to a higher authority in the State? Apparently this is how Mecklenburg County operates by screwing the honest, hard working folks while the rest of the scumbags get away with utility freebees! Cons: Too many to name more

this is th worst company ever..My bills are high ...the company reps if you can call them that will not answer phone calls after 5:00 and when they turn off my water (my bills are paid) because my neighbors renters did a midnight move i had to wait until the next day when someone might come out by 3:30 to fix their mistake !!!!! now i am missing a day of work due to no shower ....kid home from daycare due to no shower....and no one to pay for this situation but myself ...I have never herad of a utilites company not having 24 hour a day on call technicians ....the rep that was on the phone sounded like he was to busy playing video games to listen to what i was telling him ....and said call betweeen 8-5...15 times during our conversation ..is this what you spend my $$$ on .... Pros: sometimes the water is clear ....i said clear not clean Cons: you have no choice !!! more

Ya know there isn't an option to rate below one star, this company doesn't even deserve a rating in my eyes. This company said that in 14 days my residence used 148,000 gallons of water for a 800.00 charge. When I called in to ask about the charge after not receiving the bill for two months, they told me that it was from a water leak in the front yard. I then kindly informed the woman that if I had a 148,000 gallon leak in my front yard that I would have a over 7 swimming pools in the front yard. I still have to pay 800.00 with no change in the charge. Definitely the worst company in Charlotte. Cons: everything more

Too expensive for water quality 12/18/2008

My water has been tested several times and is full of particles that can cause kidney stones. Today the sewage backed into my showers and tubs. I am waiting for the service crew to arrive but the CS has no idea of a timeline. I am missing work but will not be reimbursed for this. I cannot continue to wash clothes until this is fixed. If I am to pay an average of $65 monlthly I should at least get better quality water and a timeline for repairs. We are a household of 4 that never waters the lawn, we have Bermuda grass and never washes the vehicles except at carwash businesses. I even use my shower water to water my small garden only in the summer. Why must I pay so much for so little? When I lived in South Florida, which experiences drought and has a higher demand for water than here, I paid half as much and washed my two vehicles in front of my house and watered the lawn. more

Horrible Water, Service and Pricing 12/12/2008

As you can see from all the other reveiws that this is a terrible company. I really, really dislike this company and have from the start. As stated in ALL the above reviews the water quality is horrible and the prices outrageous!! Now they have the NERVE to ask for a water sample to rate quality!! As if they did not know their water is really really bad. When we sale our house and move I will be sure not to buy another home serviced by this company...EVER!!! I don't care if someone gives me a house , I would dig a well, by hand, first. more
