We've been members of the Discovery Place for 2 years now and it never gets boring. They have a kids place for younger children between the ages of 12 months to 6 years. It has a water table where they can dam up the water to hold back water and then flood the remaining table. Nature areas for them to crawl through, a barn to teach animal sounds, a "fossil" area to make and tons more JUST in the kids play area. Then there are the exhibit halls with a weather area showing how tornadoes are made, a gem and mineral area, an aquarium area with a touch pool, a rain forest with tropical birds and tortoises. That's just on the first floor. The second floor is the science floor, teaching kids how magnets work, levers, axles. They also have that floor the human body and it's organs. And every few months they have a new huge exhibit. Right now the exhibit it Grossology which teaches about the not so pleasant things the body does. A few months ago it was If These Walls Could Talk, which was about building structures. Before that it was the Dinosaur exhibit etc. There's a gift shop and snack area. Downstairs is an eating establishment. You can't go wrong at the Discovery Place.

This is a very unique and fun museum. You can tour an old-time home and really get a good feel for the way things were done ??back in the day??. There are plenty of exhibits to see here, the age of which spans almost a millennium. There is something for everyone at this museum, highly recommended!

Recently while waiting for a delayed flight I stuck upon this place located at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
The museum has a commendable collection of aircrafts. I did see around 20 of them only due to time constraint.
Some of them are maintained in flying condition. Located near the US airways terminal you can observe aircraft take-off and landings. One of the biggest assets is the library which has extensive collection of books, photographs and manuals and periodicals. This is the biggest and best one which I have seen.

The charlotte nature museum is geared towards a younger age group of kids but where they can have fun and learn about Nature. At the museum they have a lot of hands on activities that will keep the kids interested and they also have puppet theater show teaching them about nature. And then they have a science trail that they take them along. There is a live animal room there too that the kids always seem to like.
