Unwarranted discrimination 8/26/2011

Unfortunately, my friend who was in professional clothes, wearing high heels, a silk blouse and cropped professional pants was denied entrance because her knees were showing. They ended just above the knee They were very expensive pants with a wide cuff and ironed pleats. They said she was wearing shorts, and even though other patrons had skirts that clearly showed much more leg than her, they told us they would not serve us. I understand policy, but typically common sense makes up for rigid policies. I will not return, as my friend was extremely embarrassed. Be careful if you do not plan to eat here without being in a suit or short skirt. more

For dessert you'd be better of with a fast food chain... 7/30/2011

The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Ice Cream), Kerry Vincent ""Pecan Ball - Cafe Pacific, Dallas"". This was on par w/ hot fudge sundae at McD. The host of Cafe Pacific was pretentious. Willing to deal w/ that until the desserts we ordered were so mediocre it made me angry. FYI: Key-lime tart's crust tasted old/ frozen...ICK! more

Horrible customer experience 6/25/2011

Don't waste your money, staff is rude, food isn't worth the price. Stay away for here! more

Beware of Dessert 10/28/2010

We had a wonderful lunch at Cafe Pacific today. However, the dessert was awful. I do not recommend the banana bread pudding. It was lots of bananas with a strange sauce and tiny piece of white bread in the center. If you wanted bread pudding, this is NOT the dessert you should order because that's not what this is. more

Special Place for special occasions 5/18/2009

From the time you walk in the door, you feel like you are very special. We only go on special occasions -- perhaps four times a year, but we are greeted like we are the best customers in the city. From the moment we arrived, we have always been treated like royalty by everyone--management, servers, even the bus boys. The food is superb. My personal favorite is the marvelous sea bass, but everyone always enjoys whatever entree they select. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Pros: Food, wait staff and management Cons: Absolutely none more

Best Restaurant in Dallas 3/2/2009

This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in the Dallas metroplex area. It is a place where we go to several times a month and not just for special occasions. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. Take the sour review about not getting a window-seat with a grain of salt. The dining room is small, so not being able to sit at the window does not take away from the dining experience. It is not like you are being blind-folded down a Seine river-cruise. You are looking at the parking lot of Highland Park Village, for goodness sake! Yes, there is a group of tried and true clientele at Cafe Pacific who probably have been going there for years, and yes, they will get their choice seats. Get over where you are sitting and enjoy the wonderfully prepared food. Relatively speaking, Cafe Pacific is NOT pricey compared to the Tollway steakhouses and other restaurants, including Breadwinners. If you go there once, try the scallops or veal oscar. Enjoy a bloody mary or bellini. If you cannot get in for a weekend dinner, try the Sunday brunch. We so enjoy Cafe Pacific and are definitely a fan! Pros: Food, easy valet Cons: Make a reservation in advance or you won't get a seat more

Rude host and manager cast a shadow on otherwise nice restaurant 1/28/2009

Cafe Pacific was recommended to us by a friend. The reviews online sounded great so I felt confident making a reservation. One review recommended requesting seating by the window to enjoy a view of the fountain outside. I requested window seats while making my reservation and the woman on the other end said she would arrange it. When we got to the restaurant and mentioned that we had requested the window, however, our hostess shortly replied, "" if one becomes available"". I was taken aback by her lack of customer service (she should have said something akin to ""sorry for the inconvenience, but we can only provide those seats on a first come, first serve basis"". Surmising that a miscommunication had occurred, my husband stayed back to explain that we had specifically requested the seats while making the reservation. My husband also asked to speak to the manager who very rudely and flatly replied, ""we can only give you that table if it becomes available"" and walked away. This put a damper on our moods for sure. After receiving such poor treatment, we should have just walked out but we were joined by our in-laws who had just flown in from Baltimore. Needless-to-say, a window seat did not become available to us so we sat in the middle of the restaurant. My husband did notice, however, that the manager appeared very familiar with those he did seat by the window. I could be wrong, but it appeared that the reason he was so resistant to honoring our request was because he saves window seats to schmooze VIP's. There's really no point in mentioning the food because poor service has a way of leaving a bad taste in your mouth, regardless. That said, we did enjoy our waiter; he was a complete professional. Cafe Pacific is definitely upscale and pricey, a place we would typically reserve for special occasions. Think twice before you reserve a special night at this restaurant because the treatment you receive may leave you feeling insignificant and unimportant. Pros: wait staff, food Cons: rude manager, hostess more
