So Disappointed 9/20/2010

I wish I could give a 0 rating. Our cake was freezer burnt, and came undecorated. We had to wait around at our tasting because they double booked our appointment and no one was friendly to work with. We had to use this company with our wedding location and I wish we had paid more money to have a better cake. And then I found out their cake is a mix from a box...I wish more people would do their research before signing a contract, we will do that from now on. more

Horrible! DO NOT USE BUTTERCREAM! 2/16/2010

My sister was forced to use this company as part of a hotel package. Shame on reception sites for forcing brides to use certain vendors so you get a kick back! It's about the bride and her day....not forcing them to use an awful cake company so that you (and the cake company) make money off of them. The cakes photographed on their website looking nothing like they do in real life. And they claim they are Buttercream but there is no butter in their frosting! It's a processed whipped cream....like cool whip. My sister is my best friend and having to choose this awful cake nearly ruined her day. Shame on you Buttercream and sites that use them! Pros: None. Cons: Freezer Burnt, Tastes Horrible, Bad Service more

WORST SERVICE! I WISH I WOULD HAVE GONE SOMEWHERE... 1/24/2010

We went there twice for appointments because the first time the lady just drew up a design and put details in. However, the first time--we were greeted and then ignored for 30 minutes past our appointment TIME! I was furious! The second time I called two weeks in advance and guess what?! I talked to the manager in fact and when we got there---again nobody noticed we were standing by the small entry door (St. Paul location) and just looked at...finally someone came up and asked can we help you. I replied yes, please we have an appointment at 12:00. They couldn't FIND us in their appointment book!!! I was extremely mad because this happened to us before. I was mad because I made sure that the man put us down such my trust level with them was already in the mud. Our wedding is coming up and I hope that they do what they say. However, I really wish we would have gone to Muddy Paws or somewhere else where hospitality is considered important--treating their customers with respect is thought about---here--it seems like they tend to overbook and ARE extremely unorganized. It beats me why they are voted the best in magazines! I will for sure talk about this to other couples and steer them away from this awful place! This is said because I know they do make cakes well--they are quite tasty but to me--running a business is also how you treat your customers...they NEED to work on that! The worst experience ever! I was and still am furious. Now I feel I have to babysit these people and call and make sure before my wedding date that we are-in their unorganized pitiful system and that everything is set and they do know the TIME that they are suppose to come?? GRRR! Pros: I am hoping our cake turns out for our wedding... Cons: Very unprofessional and extremely unorganized! more

Delish! 2/18/2009

Our cake was great! It tasted spectacular - moist and flavorful! It looked exactly like I wanted it to. We also had flowers on our cake, but our florist added them after the cake had arrived. Buttercream and the florist spoke to ensure their timing was correct so that the flowers could be added. Also, I thought Buttercream was VERY reasonably priced. \r Pros: taste, decorating, execution Cons: location is a bit hard to find. more

Delicious 6/13/2008

If the decoration of the cake would have been done well I would have given this place perfect 5 star. The taste is the best but the decoration fell short. \r \r During my consultation I was told they have someone to deliver and finalize the placement of my flowers to look like the picture I gave them, full cascading flowers in a spiral. I was worried that they couldn't recreate the look. I had two consultation sessions and I was assured that they were professionals and have been doing this for years and the cake would be fabulous. \r \r Imagine my dismay when I came out of my dressing room to see the Buttercream guy stick calla lillies into the cake like he was poking a balloon. It looked nothing like the picture. The flowers stood straight out awkwardly in a sinlge line down the cake. One of my friend had to fix the flowers so they weren't sticking straight out of the cake and she made the flow fuller. \r \r The guy told me he was not an expert at decorating and mainly just delivers the cake. If I would have known that is their ""professional"" person, I would have hired a florist or gone somewhere else. I already provided my own expensive flowers. For almost $600 I expected more from Buttercream. \r Pros: Great Taste Cons: Bad Decoration, False Assurances more

DELISH! Best Cake Around! 5/15/2008

I ordered a cake last minute online for a friend of mine's birthday party. I received an email notification back immediately that my order was received and when the cake would be ready. They also called me to verify my order. The cake was a huge success and very delicious! They are a little pricey but for the taste and size I would order again! The customer service was great and the store was clean and the people were very nice. For that, the price is worth it! Pros: Delicious Cake-Great Customer Service Cons: Higher priced cake if you are looking for something cheaper more

I still get weak in the knees 7 years later when I think of our fantastic wedding cake 3/22/2008

Our 7 year wedding anniversary is coming up next month and I still remember what our cake tastes like when I think back on that day. It was the most beautiful, luxurious, decadent cake I have ever tasted. It's expensive but it's SO worth it. You can't go wrong with these guys. I still to this day can't describe in mear words how much we loved our wedding cake.\r \r Cheers! Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

68 year old comments on the best cake ever tasted! 10/18/2007

My landlord and her mother work for a catering company for corporate events worldwide, and after tasting my husband and I's wedding cake at the reception they both commented on it being the best cake they've ever tasted! Buttercream does not charge more for 2 flavors in one cake; we managed to pick out two of our favorite flavors and have two tiers of one and one tier of the other. What a bonus. Pros: Free parking, friendly staff, wide catalogue of options, free samples of the most popular flavors, free sample of their truffles more

Couldn't have done it better myself 2/21/2007

I would like to think of myself as a cake coinsurer, I have been to about every bakery and sweet shop in the Twin Cities searching for the best cake. Although Buttercream Collection was not on my radar, until I attended a family friends wedding and there it was the BEST CAKE I have ever tasted. It was the Bailey?s chocolate a rich chocolate cake with a touch of Bailey?s Irish Cream, and the buzz this cake created was like no other. Shortly, after the wedding I had a small party at my house and ordered the Bailey?s for my quests. Although I first told them I made it myself the truth can out. The staff was helpful and friendly, the quality is always great. I have found my bakery! Pros: 30+ Flavors more

Best cake ever! 2/21/2007

The cake was delicious! I got so many compliments on our cake it was great. The service was amazing. The wedding consultants were very helpful also. I would definitely recommend Buttercream to anyone who is getting married or just needs a birthday cake!\r Pros: Helpful consultants more

Two Thumbs Up. 2/13/2007

Buttercream created a wonderful cake for my daughter?s birthday party. The kids love the Cookie n?Cream. We now call them for all of our cake needs and always try a new flavor. I haven?t found a bad flavor yet. Two thumbs up. Pros: Flavor selections Cons: I can't eat it every day more

Best service Best product, Just the best!!!!! 12/14/2006

My wedding cake was one of the most important accepts of my wedding, so I had to go to the best. Buttercream?s staff is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and not only delivered the most beautiful cake, the best tasting too. \r \r P.S. I was looking for a different party favors so I ordered truffles in boxes from Buttercream and they were as big of a smash as the cake. (I just wished they would there was one left over for me) Pros: Flavor selection, staff, quality Cons: I'm only getting married once! more

you should know... 12/13/2006

If you are planning on buying your wedding cake here be prepared for some of the most delicious cake you've ever had. The pastor that married us said he had officiated 637 weddings and been to just as many receptions and ours was the most wonderful cake he had ever tasted. All my guests went on and on about it. We had the tiramisu with white cake. WOW. If they're delivering it to the reception site MAKE SURE you tell them you want cake boxes or they won't leave any. \r My husband and I are ordering the same cake for our friends? birthday this weekend. 29.00 and feeds 12 but it's well worth it. good luck!! Pros: staff, flavor, price Cons: location more

fantastic cake 7/12/2006

We were introduced to Buttercream via word of mouth for our wedding cake. It was described as French cake that is not too sweet and delicious. So we went and did some taste tests, and it was indeed, one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We ordered the cake for our wedding, and at the end of it, everyone commented on how good the cake was. Even after 2 years, people still tell me how good the cake was. Now we order these sheet cakes for bdays, anniversaries, and other special events. My only ""complaint"" would be there aren't more of these places thoughout Minnesota. :) Pros: Non-super sweet frosting; cake is extremely moist. more

Terrible problem resolution 10/6/2004

The Buttercream Collection is supposed to have such great service. Their service is horrible. My wedding cake I received was not the one I ordered. The only resolution they would give would give was a gift certificate or a $ 37 refund. This was not acceptable to me. The owner of the company ending up hanging up on me at the end of the phone conversation. Very unprofessional! I would not recommend them to anyone! Pros: poor service, rude owner more

The Best 12/4/2003

We had Buttercream Collection do our wedding cake this past August and were more than happy with the results. We were hooked after meeting with them to do a taste test at the Minnetonka store. My husband and I cleaned the sample plate and later remarked that you could almost eat an entire tub of their frosting. :-) We had been to multiple taste tests at other bakers and their buttercreams didn't hold a candle. I would suggest that you try other places first and save Buttercream for your last stop before deciding on a baker. more

Buttercream - Nothin' But Butta Baby! 5/15/2003

My husband and I used The Buttercream Collection as the provider for our wedding cake last year, and it was WONDERFUL!! We ordered a two-tier number 32 lemon-strawberry flavored wedding cake, and it was DEEEELICIOUS! We took the top portion of the cake home and let our guests feast on the bottom portion, which was more than enough for everyone. We recently placed an order for a 6-inch version of the cake we had for our wedding to celebrate our one-year anniversary this year (May 24th). We are really happy to use the Buttercream Collection again! I highly recommend this establishment to every couple getting married!! Price was $100 for a small two-tier cake, but it was worth it! YUM, YUM, YUM!! Pros: Excellent flavor, Gd customer service, On-time delivery Cons: None really! more

Yummmm... 4/29/2003

It's been almost a year since our wedding now but people are still commenting on our wedding cake! The staff went out of their way to be helpful and let us taste a little of everything. The prices were a little higher than other places, but once you taste it you realize it's worth every extra penny. Pros: YUM, YUM, YUM more

Excellent service, fantastic cake 12/30/2002

Personally, I didn't even WANT a cake for our wedding. We set up cake tasting at Buttercream because they have a contract with Nic Island Inn, where we are having our reception. Then I met David, at Emporia/Buttercream in Minnetonka. He gave us fabulous cake samples, walked us through prices and decorating ideas and provided exemplary service. He was charming yet not condescending, helpful and not at all pushy. He is well-connected with top florists and catering directors, and we walked out with centerpiece ideas that perfectly completed the ""vision"" of what we wanted for our reception (as well as a split chocolate/Bailey's ganache/fresh raspberry cake followed by chambourd truffles). David made wedding planning fun again. I highly recommend working with Buttercream and with David for any major personal or corporate event. Pros: presentation, taste, service Cons: cost more

Perfect Cake 10/18/2002

We selected Buttercream for our wedding cake. It was exactly as advertised and the cake was delicious. There was very little left over, even though we had ordered extra cake. We will definitely consider Buttercream for other events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc... We highly recommend them. Pros: Great Flavor, Nice Presentation, Great Sales Staff Cons: Moderately priced more
