Excellent Food, But... 1/30/2005

The food at Blue Nile is amazing - that's the only word for it. It is delicious, wondefully presented, and reasonably priced. The service was also very gracious and attentive. I felt very at home there and greatly enjoyed my meal (as did my two companions). The ONLY drawback is that the restaurant is in a decidedly scary part of town. Very shady surroundings and people made me glad I wasn't there alone. During our meal, a transient came into the restaurant and was pestering people at their tables for money!!! Unacceptable. My advice is to take a tip from their old neighbors - Erawan - and move to a nicer part of town PRONTO. They'll be much better off for it. Pros: Delicious food, Great service, Inijira bread Cons: Scary neighborhood more

mmmm 11/23/2004

this is a great ethiopian resraurant i always leave happy and full. I always order the fit fit and sometimes the doro wat. It is always great as well as the service. Dont be mislead by the thoughts of ethiopian being strange or bizarre it is deffinately not. By the way, you get to eat with your hands, its an ethiopian thing. Pros: great food, great service, huge portions more

The best for 9 yrs and counting... 11/15/2003

Traditional Ethiopian art and interior design set the stage for this authentic North-Eastern African cuisine. Dishes are served with nutrient-rich injera, which is like a spongy sourdough. Tear a small piece of injera and use it to pinch bite-sized morsels of meats and veggies from your plate. Try the zesty vegetarian combo (voted best vegetarian sampler by the Houston Press). To compliment any selection, ask for off-the-menu specialties like kick (yellow bean curry) and honey wine. The atmosphere is always cool and casual, perfect for lunch. Youre welcome to take your time here, and if youre in a hurry just as for the check or pay at the counter. The waitresses are warm and friendly, and especially helpful to first-time visitors. Weekends are busy, so call ahead if you have a part of 5 or more. An Ethiopian singer entertains at the bar on a biweekly basis (call for schedule). Pros: Great Value, Friendly People, Amazing food more
